Animorphs Andalite

My lovely partner has been a big Animorphs fan since forever (I being scared off by episode 1 of the show, the nice alien getting eaten was too much for young me) so I printed n painted an Andalite for tabletop purposes

Should I, a 29 year old man, finally read Animorphs? Even if I should, will I? Time will tell

Dark Angels Contemptor Dreadnought

Had this bad boy for 2.5 editions now, finally got him assembled and painted

The checkers are getting less tedious and more enjoyable, which may be a worrying sign of my mental state /s

These go so much faster than the pointellist ass coconut crab tyranids it's not even funny

Dark Angels Tactical Squad

I've had so mkiii and iv space marine bits from the plastic heresy sets from the pre covid times laying around, and dark angels bits and bobs, I finally decided to put all my spare things together to make a marine force. Here's the first Tactical Squad

Most of this stuff isn't printed, which is weird for me, so I went with the classic grassy base

I appreciate the well wishes on my last post, yall are sweet

Anyways things are stable enough for me at work now that I feel able to invest some time in art, so yay

Alright I'm not dead I guess

Maleceptor #1 complete. Hopefully by the time I'm done with these, the current edition of 40k won't have my whole army be trash

Like really I doubt this poor fellow will see a single game of 10th with how averse I am to finishing projects in a timely manner

Anyways, I feel like I'm constantly on edge and waiting for things to go pop off, politically ofc, but I'm still just, going to work every day and people are acting normal. It's starting to make me feel nuts, and the art is helping me feel less out there, so hopefully there will be more soon

Thanks! I 3D print them, I found a nice forest base set that came with some real big bases and took a hex base with hazard stripes and basically used it like a cookie cutter in blender, cutting out hexagons and merging them with the hex bases to make custom hex bases. It's time consuming but i rotate and flip a bunch to add variety. The water is just mod podge. Love your Canopians btw, I've seen them around. The warm yellow with those almost glowing gradients is super nice

A Locust, with my rethought out bases. I've been playing Helldivers lately and there are some really pretty pastel palette planets around and decided to emulate one of those

I still don't have a coherent color schemes for my mercs beyond mostly light neutrals with large color panels and decals, but I hate settling on these things, I always change my mind

My Master Grade Gramps has been taunting me at 90% completion for weeks while I fuck around with Magic card and MechWarrior so I finally finished him last night

I didn't really grasp the height difference between this monster and a normal 1:144 HG or RG kit, the sheer mass of the panels had put me off for a while after I built him

It's a good kit, but the dedication to having removable core section for the fighter means the midsection is a little iffy, I'd have preferred a solid skeleton

Anyways back to disappearing for another month or whenever I finish a project next

Phase 1 Clone Trooper

I've been leaning a lot on oil washes recently and I quite liked the clone trooper recipes by Archer Hobbies written up on the Fifth Trooper, so I tried it out on a bog standard no marking shiny boy

Pretty simple, kinda chunky with the highlights but considering how easy it was I can't complain

New Star Wars Legion update finally made the clone itch too hard to not scratch

I had to reference the art a lot to figure out what was going on, the little leather arm guards are kinda odd

Coftyran Yawdryl

One of the squad leaders for the Coftyran Quar faction, and another of the old metal sculpts. They're all still out there for sale by the original creators in case anyone didn't know

Thankfully the examples on their site are painted, and I wanted to stick as close as I could to source material, mainly for nostalgia reasons

Coftyran Cryfen LMG Rhyfler. It's quite nostalgic painting heavy metal minis again, which is largely why I'm doing "normal" bases instead of fancy 3d printed ones

Quar!

When I was a teen, my folks took me to a wargaming convention and there was this booth for a smaller company called Zombiesmith. I loved the books and art for the Quar line, picked up some, the signed rulebooks, and sat on them for over a decade.

Now, with the recent Wargames Atlantic collaboration? Acquisition? Whatever, Quar is something I've seen around on the 'net recently. So, I've dug out my old Coftyrans and given them a modern coat of paint. Here's a Rhyfler

First platoon of Jump Infantry for my Mercenary force in Battletech

This was my first time painting infantry in 6mm, and I'm very glad I opted to let the wash do most of the work and avoid layering, as I would lose my mind

The infantry models are lovingly resculpted rogue trader era imperial guardsmen, I found them on Cults under the name Retro Guard

I thought those perfectly fit the vibe I wanted, so I slapped on a generic steampunky jetpack, scaled them down, and voila

I know the leaves are pretty big compared to the scale, but I'm not planning on changing it, I like it

Shadowhawk SHD-2H

Shawks are kinda trash, but I've been doing Alpha Strike where they're much more average and viable, rather than an unfocused ammo bomb with bad jumpjets

I do adore the design, over the shoulder cannons are sick as fuck after all (Guncannon my beloved) but y'know, no props to them for that since it's just stolen from Fang of the Sun Dougram

Used some nice forest bases I bought on Cults to craft new hex bases for my mercs, and I'm pretty happy with the result, the medieval stonework look had been bugging me

To think I'm less than half done with the non armor elements of the army... thank goodness I'm just 3d printing everything

I do appreciate the base to model ratio FOW infantry offers, so much modeling opportunity for fun little dioramas
