If i see one more post describing Our Moive as a K-Trauma I am going to bang my head against the wall. Like please shut upppppppppp and stop booktoking kdramas oh my god
the only k-trauma is kdramas getting shipped off to netflix and disney+ because it ruined the vibes 10/10 but sldfjls yes i agree it's annoying but at least like 90% of people aren't tuning in because they don't wanna be "scarred" or whatever. good news for the 10% of us who enjoy quality dramas despite whatever plot they have

I don't want to jinx it but next month we might be getting dramas with decent romance ? Head over heels (she falls first and is the one protecting him), the good man (it's first love and she leaves for some reason but it's on part of the story and the long preview I saw they both seemed very in love). How's our movie btw? I can't trust anyone but you everywhere else it's : omg he's gonna be so sad when she does omg he gave her an assistant omg he's falling in love dnjdhrir so I can't actually tell anything.
so i started head over heels and fellas, it's really really fun. like very silly high school romance but the plot is totally different than the usual simpl ML x girlboss and i love both the FL and ML they are very likable people and their chemistry is divine. only 12 episodes but the first 2 were great and if you want somethin light i rec it! the good man is the new lee dong wook drama and the trailer looked very 2010 (good) so i think i'm gonna at least watch an episode of that.
our movie........is EVERYTHING i have wanted. it's beautiful and tender, slow and pointed. every line matters. and when you have namgoong min and jeon yeobeen, you know the acting is gonna hit. it's like a very beautiful 2008 melodrama movie and it's a love letter to cinema and as someone who knows nothing about what goes into making a movie i am fascinated by it. highly highly rec it truly it's gonna be an underrated gem.

it is very wild to me reading SOOO many comments of people saying they don't want to tune into our movie because it's a tragedy or a "k-trauma" because 1) kdramas were built on tragedies so it's like, ignoring the constitution of a land and 2) why does tragedy somehow = bad drama or bad ending?
if you think about it, some of the most famous novels, plays, and movies we have adored throughout human history have BEEN tragedies of lovers. and i always feel it's that way because there is something that haunts about a love ending without being totally fulfilled, despite knowing that life always ends. it's this idea that something greater than two lovers, be it the stars or fate or whatever it is, can stop something as powerful as love can be. with tragedy you get to explore the idea of "okay, but what if?" what if it's not just as easy as boy meets girl? what if, in this case jeha and daeum, were just two people who may have been better off NOT meeting if it meant they would not be hurt after meeting and loving and losing? but that bigger chance of missing out on that love story is worse than one half dying, because at least it means that love existed, which is something that we can hold on to in the after.
so, if you are hesitant to click on a drama that has a 99% chance of a sad ending, i think giving it a try could actually open your eyes to the possibility that the happy ending in a tragedy was that despite it all, these characters did crash into each other, and those moments of bliss were just more than enough.

Started Our Movie because you've been hyping it and it's so lovely and tender!
captainjoongki propaganda working omg love that <3
but yes it's beautiful it feels retro but fresh and i think it's gonna be one of those gem kdramas that goes unnoticed but more for us with high level taste. i think kdramas of this style are going borderline extinct so when we get one i have to grasp onto it and it being good is just an added bonus.

I keep seeing comments on my dramalist under almost every romance where they're like "this is so refreshing I was so tired of the cold CEO ML and the doormat FL and we finally have a green flag ml" and I just want to ask are the cold CEO/doormat FL in the room with us? It's so funny because they say it about every drama now proving just how incredibly common it is it's practically the only kind of rlsp type. And having watched kdramas for 10 years I think I've seen barely any that fit this trope. The biggest share rn goes to FLs who put their jobs and themselves first and MLs who are always ready to sacrifice everything including their careers lives etc for the women they love ??? Like where are these dramas you're gabbing about?
BWAHAHA WHAT????????? brothers if we had even had 5 cold CEO male leads this year maybe i'd be watching more kdramas but alas
like sorry but are these people still watching 2010-era kdramas? because kdramas just don't even do that anymore! like i am with you i've been watching kdramas for a very long time so i have seen the trends change and we are in the worst trope era right now like if the assholes came back i think we'd all be happier but can't even have that anymore because tiktok kids will throw hissy fits. it's basically just FL x doormat ML 1000 lately. or he's throwing punches with the other boys. whatever cba MDL is high always

Ugh did you see the drama with Our MOvie I'm glad mostly everyone is on NGM's side x com/onurscz/status/1934110726878380406
wild stuff because namgoong min is KNOWN to be like a really chill quiet guy who has never in like, a 20+ year career called anyone out so that reporter making a useless article saying "our movie's ratings fell and namgoong min should be humiliated" is gross and i'm glad he called her out even if it was way nicer than i would've been.
see the thing is he himself said at the press-con it's not the type of drama to make a lot of noise and i agree. it's a melodramatic tragedy. it's filmed slowly. it's a character driven piece. but when did we equate high ratings - which are really hard to achieve anyway in this age of streaming - with quality? because i can name 10 "hit" dramas that were truly utter shit skfljsk. and it's been like what, 2 episodes? idk i would've cussed her out but it's sweet that he said to wait for a few weeks and then he'll take responsibility of any failure - which i don't agree with bc what makes a drama a failure? if it's a good drama that even moves 5 people i think it worked. but it's all a capitalist useless world we live in but yeah. anyway our movie is prob gonna be in my top 3 faves of the year so hopefully more do tune in but either way idc i'm glad it's found whoever it needed to find.
#ask#anon#our movie#this chasing of ratings and INTL success has actually ruined the industry and i commend actors like ngm who still want to film quality work
