Happy lunar new year 2020 everybody! The year of the metal rat started just now. So I thought, a little steampunk rat would be lovely to draw! 🐀 This is my second animation I did in Procreate, ever. Animation is a totally new world for me - but it's great fun and I'd like to do it more often. :) (Sorry for the not-so-great quality, but tumblr doesn’t let me post it in high-res)

Every year, the amazing @theschlogger puts together a weekly calendar with a lot of different illustration artists (64 this year! Incredible, right?). Every artist gets to do one week - so you have a lovely, inspiring variety in styles and colour every 7 days. ⁠

I was very very happy to participate in the "2020, f*** Yeah!" calendar project❤. ⁠The awesome cover illustration is created by @susannhoffmann 😍⁠

They're A5-sized and cost 20€ plus shipping (1,55€ to Germany; 3,80€ to the rest of Europe; different shipping costs to other countries).⁠

I hope you guys have a really cozy autumn time. Today I’d like to intoduce you to the little fox. He loves books, tea, telling stories and snuggling under his blanket. So here he is, in his natural habitat: A super comfy treehouse! I‘d love to live in a place like that, too! :)

I painted these illustrations for the book series „Der kleine Fuchs liest vor“, published by #ellermann / @verlagsgruppe_oetinger

At the start of every volume, there is a spread (like this one!) on which the fox makes a little introduction to the story. The rest of the story is illustrated by another talented illustrator.⁠

The last @makeartthatsells assignment: the cover! The class was soo much fun, I’ve learned a ton, made new friends and got a huge motivation boost! Also, I’m happy I could try out some new techniques and styles.

Week 4 of my online art class was all about environments. It was so much fun creating this underwater coral reef wonderland. :)

Week 3 of #makeartthatsells childrensbook course was all about poses. I had a lot of fun making the little Pearl move - though she is such a simple shape! I feel like I’m learning so, so much right now. :-)

#MATS ICB week 2 was all about emotions!

The first big assignment for the #MakeArtThatSells Childrensbook class: Designing a character for the story “The Lucky Pearl”. I imagined her as an introvert, but highly creative ans clever little thing.

I'm a children's illustrator taking part in the @kidlit4climate campaign, to stand with the young people striking for urgent climate change! Since I make my books and pictures for young people, I want to show them support. I hope everyone’s having a cozy advent time so far! When I was a teenager, I visited Lapland to live at a reindeerfarm for 3 weeks - and it was one of the best vacations ever. Just cross-country skiing, caring for the reindeers, watching the northern lights and sleeping in an igloo. Good times! In memory of that lovely time, I couldn’t resist to draw some reindeers :-) Also, this is my contribution for #illuadvent18, an advent calendar project on Instagram and Facebook.

The nicest thing about the cold season is: Lots of book releases! So, this is my very first “Wimmelbook” I illustrated and I’m so happy about it! It was hours and hours of work on all the details, but I really like the way it came out. Thank you so much Thienemann-Esslinger-Verlag! And the most fabulous thing about it is: It’s crown shaped and gold painted! Yay! It includes seven beautiful Fairytales by Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. - Little Red Riding Hood - Cinderella - The Little Mermaid - Mother Hulda - The Bremen Town Musicians - Snowwhite - Hänsel and Gretel For more details, see here or here.
