despite it no longer being the year of shadow (rip), my fixation on these two has not ended. i've seen people draw 'baby' shadow and this was my take on that.

i've seen a lot of people talk about the similarities between sonic and maria. they both share a deep love for nature and the world, with a strong desire to protect the people who live on it. they both brought love and friendship to shadow's life. they're both blue colour-coded. i feel they would become good friends given the chance. it's truly a tragedy they were never fated to meet.

(plus i'd imagine they would team up to annoy the shit out of shadow together much to his delight)

i love the headcanon that shadow smells like lavender because of maria's influence. personally, i strongly associate lavender with my family which is how i interpreted this little factoid about shadow.

i don't know how they would get lavender up on the ARK, but it would cute if they dried it and made little scent bags together.
