"Yeah, you did." He didn't bother softening that, because he knew by now Kira was aware of what to expect from him. But that didn't mean he was being intentionally harsh on her. He could tell she was in distress. No need to make it worse.

He reached up, gently wiping away her tears with his hand. "Don't worry about it. But... what's wrong?"

Feeling movement, her eyes slowly opened. She immediately felt that soreness around the eyes that usually signified a lot of crying, but why? She was a little disoriented at first before realizing she had been crying. And that's right, she wasn't alone.

She felt arms around her small form, lips pressed softly to her shoulder. Kira instinctively moved closer to the warm presence and buried her face in his shoulder just a bit. She could still feel the tears falling... Why? "Sorry... Did I wake you.?" she murmured sleepily, her throat feeling rather raw. Just how much did she cry.?? Kira could usually remember her nightmares, but this dream felt just out of her reach and slipping further away the more she tried to remember.

Kira was getting more comfortable staying the night with him, though it was only the last few times that she'd slept with him in his bed rather than on a guest bed. He'd been tempted to sleep with his earphones, but he'd figured out she was a lot quieter at night than his roommate.

At least until now. He woke up before the sun was up to hear her crying in her sleep. It took a few moments for him to sigh and lean in, pressing a kiss to her shoulder and pulling her closer.

"Hey. It's okay."

This felt like a metaphorical pinch on the cheek, and you couldn’t help but let out a soft whine before smiling a bit.

“ You have a fair point, “ You whispered, laughing a bit as you moved to press a sweet little kiss to his jaw. “ But still! You can’t deny it’s at least a cute day, plus it’s extra special to me because your birthday’s so close to it! “

"...you've known me how long now and still think I care about romance?" He sort of did, but it wasn't exactly the thing to harp on with him to get him to care.

" Oh come oooon~ ! " You whined... rather pathetically as you set your chin on his shoulder. " I'm not gonna force you to celebrate, but you have to admit! Me coming to visit you for a holiday about romance is pretty romantic! " You're trying so hard to butter him up.

"Which you do, anyway." Because of course Alhaitham saw right through them.

"I can spend time with you and appreciate you any day of the year. I don't need an excuse."

" ...Because that means I'm coming to visit Sumeru for you specifically? " As if you don't already do that often but claim it's for work. " That... counts for something! ...Right? "

”Uh huh. I don’t believe you.” Still, it was whatever at this point. It wasn’t like he actually cared when Decima was weird. If he did, he wouldn’t be here. He wasn’t exactly known to tolerate things he didn’t like.

Just stares down at them for a moment.

“Let me guess, you were saying something unhinged again.” But Decima does get a kiss. As a treat.
