Saturday, March 26th, I was going out to dinner with my family. On the way there, we got into a significant accident. Luckily, there were a number of good samaritans on the nearby beach. They helped remove me from my chair and stabilize my mother and grandmother. Currently, I am in the medical progressive care unit with a head injury, broken clavicle, and fused neck. My mother is coming out of a coma at the same hospital, and progressing greatly. We are both headed to rehab in Northern Florida in the next few days. I am going to need therapy including psychological, nutritional, physical, occupational, and cognition therapies. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed a few days after the accident. I would welcome anyone who wants to reach out, I feel surrounded by love. Please give me grace in my response time. I will try to continue to update as things progress, but may be slow. Also, I will be writing a newsletter and a new blog at karinrecovers.com for updates, so please leave your contact information if you are interested in keeping up with my journey. Channeling definite mermaid vibes today with this super cute throwback favorite dress from @diaandco and some mermaid/sea witch inspired hair clips from @puravida . I have a special place in my heart for mermaids, because in my mind even have a mermaid did grow land legs and become part of our world like Ariel, they probably wouldn’t be able to walk, and I love the idea that there is nothing wrong with moving through the world in different ways whether that’s with legs, fins, or a wheelchair! I love this look, but I also want to just put it out there but I did not wake up like this and fashion and beauty are not effortless and it’s time that we talk more about that because pretending that actively engaging in beauty and fashion doesn’t take effort does a disservice to everyone, because it creates the expectation that people owe you being pretty or put together to have the right to exist in the world and they absolutely don’t. I do my hair and make up for me, because I want to, because it makes me feel better and more confident, but I absolutely do not owe anyone looking pretty all the time! I can’t believe I’m saying this but I disagree with Miranda Priestly‘s assessment. I think florals for spring CAN be groundbreaking, as long as you do it in a way that feels authentic to you and reflects your style, instead of looking like you’re copping someone else’s. Today I grabbed some old favorites from my closet to make this 50s pinup inspired/40s glamour workwear look. I even came up with a little formula to help you re-create this look for yourself. All you have to do is. take a classic headband and printed fit-and-flare dress then pair them with a bold lip, a cute pair of sneakers��, And top it off with some accessories reflect your personal sale, for example I chose a strand of pearls to really play up that vintage glamour look, but there are a lot of different options that would work just as well depending on the vibe you’re going for. After years of searching I finally found the perfect red lipstick thanks to GXVE Beauty by Gwen Stefani. On top of being just a generally gorgeous color, this lipstick feels green on my lips, tastes like cake, and doesn’t transfer when you touch your mouth, so it is basically perfect!

Whoever said Black dresses are boring and basic has never met me!
