This! I love tails and all, but my favorite gear are my real antlers earrings. We should make more uncommon gear, we should make more permanent gear, we should get more creative on our expression as animals in a human society.

I feel like we should normalize more "uncommon" gear in the alterhuman comunity. For example my dream gear is having cat claw nails and permanent fangs. Gear isn´t only paws, ears, masks and tail. Although I do love my tail and it makes me feel euforic and all but I would love to have more unique gear (eventhough it is hard to get for me), or for example gear to resemble avians, ungulates, fish etc. I would love to see more

My human friends recently asked me why I identify as an animal, then I gave them the basic answer that I give to anyone who asks me about nonhumanity: some people feel like their souls are more animal-like, others that their psychological characteristics feel nonhuman, etc etc etc. The type of answer you give you someone you know isn't – and probably will never be – part of the alterhuman community. But then they said "ok but why do YOU identify as an animal" and I was... Speechless.

I never had people ask me why I identify the way I do (besides psychiatrists, who are always asking about my clinical zoanthropy and never about my real feelings). I have no idea why I am an animal, that's just who I am. I can give you my theory on why people, plural, identify as such, the psychological and spiritual implications that in my opinion "cause" alterhumanity, but never my personal reasons.

Then it got me thinking, you never ask someone why they identify as human, they just are. Why can't I just be too? There is no reason why I am an elk, there is no reason to be a why in the first place.

God, please, if you actively engage in or support the censorship of certain topics, or the mass-harassment of people based on their tastes in fictional content.. please never engage with me. Never.

If there is one silly thing I absolutely despise — it's people who believe things like fiction dictate one's morals, or that for consuming certain types of fictional content your doings are comparable to that of real offenders. This sort of thinking is nothing short of cowardly, childish and, honestly, dangerous.

That is the first and only post I'll ever make about this. It's silly, but yet, once I dig deeper into the doings of the pro-censorship community (or as they call themselves, the "anti" crowd), the more I realize how absolutely rotten and harmful that community is. From causing young people to develop some sort of a moral OCD, to even making people commit acts of extreme self-harm out of fear or panic. From silly posts meant to harass a group, to beliefs that mirror those of actual far right communities (preaching puritanism, oftentimes harassment of minorities by accusing them of things like "degeneracy" (oh hey, a word really loved by a certain group of 20th century Germans!), and many, many more...)

That is disgusting, and I want none of this on my profile.

The name "slashkin" was chosen so it couldn't be misinterpreted as an objectkin, but also to recognize the historical importance of the term slash to the shipping community.

This term can be used by anyone who identifies as any ship, including ships that are deemed "problematic", since it is an involuntary identity.

Man idk, most of the time I don't even notice I'm doing "deer stuff" bc I'm just living. Something I needed to consciously change was my diet tho, and it is something that gives me a lot of species euphoria.

The thing is: this is not happening only in alterhuman communities. Every label-based community that exist is facing this trend of younger people trying to fit everyone in neat boxes and make everyone that identifies as the same label be literally equal. Oh you say you are goth but you don't use only black? Fake. You are a lesbian but is currently dating a transman? Fake. You are a communist but you haven't read books of neither agree with Marxism? Fake. I hate to sould like an old guy saying "in my time it was better", bc it certainly wasn't, but this new generation lacks a lot of nuance. Every community that was about going against rules and revolting against society norms just became about conforming to the status quo, about being weird but not THAT weird. We talk a lot about conservativism growing, but we talk the most about extreme conservatism and forget to see the small ways people are being pushed into boxes.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm actually kind of obsessed with the recent trend of definitions including not only "therians are earthen animals" (not true, but understandable misconception considering how long people have been saying it) but also "otherkin is for mythical creatures only", which has never been true and which I've only seen popping up in the last year or two. Where did that come from? Is it just a function of people wanting these to be neat, divided boxes instead of the messy, overlapping Venn diagram they actually are? Is it an assumption being made that if therian is for earthen animals otherkin must naturally be for the other option? Is it the fact that mythical species are the most common kintypes you see using the label otherkin leading to an assumption that that's all it's for? Who was the first one to spit that definition out and why?

I am trans because I am a therian

(this text is a repost of a post I made at r/therian 4 months ago talking about my experience with transsexuality and transspecisim)

I've got back to therapy recently and in the sessions me and my therapist have been trying to find the origin of my gender dysphoria since I'm a trans man who performs femininity, has a femme identity and doesn't have any problems with biological body parts. I started looking deeper into my whole life to find it after our last session, traumas from childhood and disorder linked identitys, but I think the one thing that makes me a man is that I'm a therian.

The animal I kin has sexual dimorphism, one of the most known cases of sexual dimorphism actually, and through my whole life I felt that in myself, the antlers, the size difference, the thicker fur on my neck, my body was never one of a human and never one of a female. When I got into puberty those same feelings bacome more aparent, but I didn't had the understanding I wasn't human. The distress about not being as tall as an elk became not being as tall as man, not having fur on my neck became not having a beard, not having antlers became not not being masculine enough. All my gender dysphoria was actually species dysphoria I couldn't understand as a 10 year old who didn't felt right in their body.

Theriocide: therianthropic suicidal ideation

Recently I went through an almost death situation where a car almost hit me. Nothing happened, the car didn't hit me, no one was hurt and no damage was made, but after that something inside me "woke up". I've always been suicidal and thoughts about it are normal to me, but the way I've been thinking about it changed completely. I'm an elk therian and that moment when I almost got run over I felt like a deer in headlights. It was so euphoric in a weird messed up way! I felt like that was how I was supposed to die, like the animal I am, like the deer I am. After that my suicidal thoughts shifted from the normal "human" deaths to the most animalistic ones, being hit by a truck, being hunted by wolves, getting my head split in two while competing for a mate... The thought of dieing like an elk makes me happy, makes me look forward to it. I won't actually act on it, of course, I'm not actively suicidal and have a support network I don't plan on abandoning soon, but it is weird to think the happiest I've been in a while was when a car was coming my direction and my life was passing through my eyes. Alterhumanity can be a little fucked up sometimes!
