Headcanon: Navi Is the Reincarnation of Link’s Mother

During the chaos of the Hyrulean Civil War, a young mother fled into the Lost Woods with her infant son. Fatally wounded and desperate to save him, she entrusted the child to the Great Deku Tree before succumbing to her injuries. Her soul, however, did not pass on.

Recognizing the strength of her love and the purity of her intent, the Great Deku Tree made a decision that defied the natural order. Using ancient forest magic known only to the spirits of old, he allowed the mother's soul to be reborn—not as a Kokiri, nor as a spirit of the dead—but as a fairy.

She became Navi.

Without her memories of her past life, Navi still felt an inexplicable bond with the boy she had once cradled in her arms. She watched from afar as he grew, guided by something deep within her. When the time came for the forest to choose a guardian for Link, there was no hesitation.

She was chosen—or perhaps, she chose herself.

As they journeyed together, she became his voice when he was silent, his compass when he was lost, his light in the darkest places. Her persistence, her protectiveness, even her occasional frustration—these weren’t just traits of a fairy. They were the instincts of a mother watching her child walk the line between fate and danger.

And when the battle was over, and peace restored, she whispered a final goodbye—not just as a guide, but as a mother who had done what she set out to do: protect her child, one last time.

Then, quietly, she left.

Zelda - The Great Reveal

The 3DS version of Ocarina of Time has an interesting animation when Sheik reveals herself to Link as Zelda. She creates a Triforce symbol with hand motions before the Triforce of Wisdom reveals itself on her hand. Anyway,

Halo GIF - Nova Boop

Eris: 'You have a blind spot... riiight... there.'

I managed to make this in just under 2 hours and it's my first raw animation. No pre-made animations or puppet scripts. It's also my first animation of two characters interacting with one another. A simple boop for some practice.

Zelda Animation - Helmaroc king

Being a fan of Zelda and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas I couldn't help but use one of my favourite scenes to practice my animation skills in Source Filmmaker. Granted this animation is about 90% complete as I lost steam towards the end. I'm been working on this, on and off, since the end of February. I'm VERY new to lip syncing and running animation, hence why they look pretty wonky in areas.

I'd like to thank Taco (The creator of the Hero Shade model for MajorLinks videos) for helping me.

Zelda - Queen Gohma

This boss used to scare me as a child to the point I had to get my older brother to finish the fight for me. She was indeed an easy boss, but she left a heck of an impact being the first 3D boss ever in the Zelda franchise.

Huge shout out to Mattelodeon for the inspiration for this. They are a hidden artist with a treasure-trove of beautiful hand-drawn animations.

Zelda - Bound by the Crown

As the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda is bound to her duties to her kingdom. Thus education of the land and its peoples' history is of importance. Side note I have a little head canon that young Zelda was often snuck out of the castle and posed as a peasant girl to enjoy what the town market had to offer. (I believe the Manga also shares this too)

Inspired by a short on YouTube of a horse forcefully nudging their owner towards them for cuddles, and filiana's adorable artwork of Link and Epona. Its a pretty clunky animation as it's one of my earlier works and I was, and still am, learning animation :) Larger GIF found here
