What’s the point, when the religious-right is obviously using money and power-plays to control what goes on within the Internet?
✊ Today is an Internet-wide day of action for net neutrality ✊
Tumblr media
There’s been a major development over the past 24 hours: another member of Congress just came out in support of the House Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s net neutrality repeal.
This is a big deal and could help push other lawmakers do the same, but we have to act fast because the deadline is just over a week away.
Today is a massive day of action to show lawmakers that people still care about net neutrality so we’re asking everyone to click here and tell Congress not to let their chance to save net neutrality slip away.
We’ve been fighting for months without seeing any movement in Congress, watching the clock ticking down to the deadline. But Rep Joe Morelle (NY-25) his support for the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution could change that.
If we act fast, we can leverage this new momentum to unleash a small landslide of other representatives coming out for net neutrality before the December 10th deadline, which will make a huge difference in the battles ahead.
Today we’re asking the entire Internet to sign this open letter to Congress telling them to do the right thing and support net neutrality before it’s too late.
Your voice matters. As part of today’s Internet-wide day of action, thousands of others are speaking out, along with celebrities, musicians, and websites like Tumblr, Postmates and Etsy.
You can join them and show your support for net neutrality by submitting an ‘I support net neutrality’ photo. We will be flooding lawmakers’ social media feeds with pictures, so if they decide to vote against the open Internet we will make them look us in the eye as they do it.
Click here to sign our open letter and then submit your ‘I support net neutrality’ photo into our gallery:
Tumblr media
We can’t let this deadline come and go without making Congress remember that the whole Internet is watching. We’re still fighting for net neutrality. And we won’t forget if they betray us.
Tell everyone you know to take action at DeadlineForNetNeutrality.com and spread the word any way you can. Click here to find ideas on how you can use your slice of the Internet – whether that’s your Tumblr blog, a website you run, or any of your social media accounts – to help get the word out. We’re counting on you!

Actually, there’s a better way to handle this situation, and you already have had it in place: the block button.  I haven’t noted your guidelines for parents, but it is up to parents to monitor their kids’ online activities.  It’s not up to everyone else to raise children that aren’t their own.  You don’t have to bend to the will of the religious right.  Their “comfort zone” is none of your business, nor none of mine.  You can see for yourself, in my account activity, that I “religiously” block all those porn-star types who choose to follow me.  I can’t figure out -why- they follow me, as I have nothing to do with the sex industry at all.  I generally post political stuff.  But whatever.  I block them because I don’t like what they post, nor their profile pictures!  But you’ll notice that I never complained about them to you.  Why?  Because I’m a mature adult and I know how to deal with people who just try to pimp themselves out for a fast buck (or whatever those peoples’ goals are). I don’t feel that I was “engaged in conversation” about this, prior to this decision being made.  What I do know is that obviously, my voice was not heard before you decided to make this rule.  Do you realize what a slippery slope you have put yourselves on?  Today, it’s “adult content.”  Tomorrow, it’s admissions about abortion, being LGBT, and more, because the Christian-right will convince you that it’s too “uncomfortable” for them, and threaten to boycott you and give you a bad name, blah blah blah.  You can’t seriously believe that bending to their will can ever put your company in a good spot in the future!  This is akin to removing the real purpose of Freedom of Speech from your platform.  Just because some people (including myself) don’t like what’s being posted, that doesn’t mean it aught to be banned from being able to be posted.  Adult content isn’t illegal nor violent, nor does it encourage illegal or violent activity, it’s just annoying for some (but not for all).  Banning it is the same thing as banning certain library books from schools which use the “N-word.”  That’s wrong too. Why don’t you focus on banning things like posts that encourage DIY guns/bombs/etc?  That stuff is violent, and in some cases, illegal.  If you’re just rar’n to pull out the ban-hammer, it seems to me that that’s where it should land. Just my 2 cents worth.  Hope it’s understandable. Thanks for listening.  I hope.
A better, more positive Tumblr
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).
Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So what’s next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

That, and he was a spoiled white male, probably straight/cis, and accustomed to everyone bowing down to him.  Where does that start?  In the crib.

I’m so grateful it went to someone who needed it and who deserves it by virtue of being a responsible, decent, caring human being!

Why did he turn you down?
Simple.  He realized he couldn’t gaslight and use you, suck you into his own world while ignoring yours, etc.  He moved on to someone else who’s an easy whore.  That’s completely OK.  Be grateful!

Those two are saints, and we should all follow their lead, indefinitely.

Jeff Sessions was interrupted by a priest who just directly quoted Jesus at him. Jeff Sessions was speaking about not allowing refugees and immigrants into this country.
The priest was removed. Another religious leader stood up and defended the priest, and they were also removed.
Powerful video. Jesus loves that priest, and that priest knows Jesus.

How ‘bout not using little girls to do the work of PRISONERS?????  There are other forms of community service that DON’T put them in obvious harm’s way.  Whether the road is safe to DRIVE ON isn’t the point.  NO road is safe for children to be doing slave work on, especially with their backs turned to traffic.  DUH.

We don’t need “no government interference”...
Rather, we need our representatives and lawmakers to do their jobs appropriately.  That won’t happen, so long as the GOP is in power.

I literally had to look this up before I would believe it.  You know what?  I’m damned proud of the Green Bay Packers.  They were never my favorite team, even when I lived in WI eons ago.  But damn!  That’s the way to win!  Anyway, the underdog finally got on top!  That’s what I love <3

You wouldn’t tell a PTSD victim to “just get over it and move on.”
So why would you say that to a victim of sexual misconduct???
IT’S THE SAME FUCKING THING, MORON GOP.

Unless you did something really shitty, something you knew you shouldn’t do (or you didn’t do something you knew you should have), it wasn’t you.  You just met a lot of really shitty narcissists with major personality disorders of all sorts.  You didn’t do anything wrong.  You don’t have to be “God” or a mind-reader.  You don’t have to try to please every asshole who crosses your path.  It’s ok for you to be yourself, whoever that is, at all times - you did nothing wrong.  You aren’t stupid for having given them a chance, for treating them like a valuable human being.  You didn’t “deserve” the shit they handed you.  You didn’t “earn” it.  It’s all 100% their own stupid fault, and it’s their bad for missing out on you, your life, etc.  There will be others like them down the road, as well, because that’s life.
That’s this world.  It’s a pretty planet, but it’s chalked full of shit-heads.  There’s nothing you can do to help that, so don’t try.  Just be yourself, know your limits, be ok with your limits, don’t try to please others, don’t blame yourself when it falls to shit (if you know you did nothing wrong), and don’t think of yourself as “stupid for having bothered.”  If you didn’t know any better, that’s ok.  You shouldn’t have needed to know anything at all.  You shouldn’t have to go doing wacko background checks on every human who crosses your path, and like hell should they all be doing that to you.  It’s not your burden if others are shitheads who choose to continue being shitheads.
Your only responsibility is to dump their little asses off on the side of life’s road as SOON as you realize they’re full of shit.  But that’s all.  Don’t expect one more thing of yourself.  Don’t even chalk it up to a “learning experience” or whatever, because again, that’s just victim-blaming. You’re not the one who needs to learn something from those situations.  The people who fucked those situations up are the ones who need to learn a few lessons.  Which they probably won’t, because they’re just fucking stupid little shitheads.  Even if they can ever admit that, they’ll still not learn, because admission doesn’t change anything.  Even promises made don’t change a thing.  A shithead just is as a shithead does.  Period.  End of story.  Consider yourself free from them all and move on.

You don’t answer questions this way if you’ve lied about being sexually assaulted.  I stand with Ford.
