I live in a Burlington that isn't where this takes place. This takes place in Burlington North Carolina, but I live in a different Burlington in a different state.

The town of Burlington, North Carolina has always been a bore. Nothing interesting really happens, nothing changes. The only event that gets people excited is the fair. One day every year, the entire town population shows up to have fun. Kids go on ride, teenagers hang out and make out behind rides, parents and adults watch their kids on the ride and even go on a few themselves. It’s fun for everyone who shows up. This year, though, there’s something different. There’s a new tent at the fair. Madam Lockwood, Fortune Teller. Everyone is intrigued by it, and it’s something new for the never changing town. However, there’s something odd about this fortune teller. Something about her predictions. The next day after the fair, a girl is found dead. She had been at the fair the night before. She’d had her fortune told. Madam Lockwood had predicted death. The people of the town don’t know what to think. What if all of these predictions come true?

And more importantly, can you prevent them?

Bio:

Reese is Ebony’s sidekick. The girls met in middle school, Reese getting close to her to get popular. Now, the two girls are joined at the hip. The redhead is just as mean as Ebony, if not meaner at times. She looks stupid, but is one of the smartest in the class and will outsmart you in anything you want her to. The girl doesn’t really know what to think of Ebony at times, though. She knows the brunette is hiding something, but has no idea how to get it out of her. And the marks on her best friend’s body? She knows something is going on. She doesn’t know how to react to what she sees. Reese will do anything for Ebony and doesn’t want the girl sad. She will do anything to put a smile on the girl’s face. And knows that being a bitch to other people makes the brunette smile. If there’s one of them, the other is usually around.

Best friends with Ebony.

Knows Ebony is hiding something but has no idea what.

Lives with her grandmother.

Reaction to her fortune:

Reese was stoked when she found out she will become more popular than what she is already. Her only concern was that if she was becoming more popular, that meant that Ebony is going to fall off the ladder and Reese doesn’t want that to happen to her.

Prudence Lockard || 19 || Taissa Farmiga || Community College Student || Open

In your future, I see fame.

Bio:

Meet once of the nicest people the town has ever had. Prudence, named after the Beatles song, is a sweetheart. She loves talking to people and helping them out, giving her the nickname Mama Pru. Watching her parents go in and out of jail, Prudence learned to not be like them. She didn’t want her life to be like theirs, so she changed it and went in a completely different direction. Volunteering at homeless shelters and animal shelters, the girl kept herself busy and had her cousins help out with her. Living with her aunt while her parents were in jail for fraud, Prudence took her cousins to help volunteer with her. Prudence is going to school for Writing. Her favorite thing to do is write poetry and she wants to write a book in the near future.

Lives with her aunt and two cousins.

Friends with everyone except Reese and Ebony.

Reads her Poetry on Fridays in the local cafe.

Reaction to her Fortune:

Prudence was confused on how to react to her fortune. She was happy, knowing that it may be her writing that makes her famous, but if it wasn’t her writing, what else would it be? And would it be a good thing or a bad thing?

In your future, I see you losing your job.

Bio:

Nicki is cursed with the mind of a reporter. She has to know the truth about everything, and she doesn't fall for lies easily.  You have to have hard evidence to prove her of anything. She's also not very trusting. She's seen people at their worst, and she expects it from people. Her career path was obvious to her as soon as she joined her first school newspaper. TV news was all lies, the truth was in the print. She knew that she wanted to join the Burlington Press as soon as she graduated, and luckily she knew someone on the team. From there, she only went up. She became head editor after working there for a few years. She probably only raised so highly because not too many people worked at the Burlington Press, but she was grateful for being put so high up.She knows she can be trusted, even if she makes mistakes occasionally. She lives and breathes the news, and she's always the first to know everything. This is where she's happy and this is where she wants to stay.

Reaction to her fortune:

Nicki just shook the thought of that happening away. She would never lose her job at the press. It's simply impossible. No one works harder than she does there. She's the one that pushes everyone to get the truth. She also doesn't want to believe it because if she lost her job, she would fall in a downward spiral. She doesn't have anything other than the press. No friends, her parents moved out of Burlington a long time ago. What is she supposed to do if she loses it? She doesn't have anything else.
