A "Science" Blog!
6K posts
Hello, Mainlanders, I'm Char Ivanov! Ex-scientist of GEAR Science, a small genetics company off the coast of... somewhere, that's private. The company/island kicked me out because I did too many "self-experiments," which is bull-shit, because I honestly don't know how I got this way. I just remember an explosion and waking up with part of my DNA... fox-like. So, they kicked me out. Sucks for them though, because, unfortunately for me, this transformation has been the most successful so far. No deterioration yet. Ha! Suck it, GEAR. So, right now, living in a lab underneath a house in the middle of nowhere. Hey, once a mad scientist, always a mad scientist. (Searching tag: charivanov. Multimuse. May occasionally have NSFW) M!A: Open.

So, thought I’d take a look at the article in question and give a quick tl;dr:
“For example, extensions will no longer be able to load code from remote servers, so the extension that's submitted to the Chrome Web store contains exactly the code that will be run in the browser. This prevents malicious actors from submitting an extension to the store that loads benign code during the submission and approval process but then switches to something malicious once the extension is published.”
There’s currently a security issue with extensions being able to do more than they should. A new API should be rolling out soon to prevent this security issue as well as increase speed.
“ The new API also offers no way to modify the response at all. “
When you ask a website for everything to display, it returns a file that is what you see. Many ad blockers modify this file to show without ads. However, malicious look-alike extensions can also do this while giving you malicious code. The new API will not allow this modification to take place.
“  Not every ad blocker will necessarily fall afoul of the new restrictions. The syntax for declaring blocked URLs for the new declarativeNetRequest API is very similar to that already used by AdBlock Plus, for example, so that blocker should be able to adapt to the new API easily enough. “
Some adblocks will still work because they are already close enough to the using what the new API will be using.
“ Developers of other blocking tools have also expressed concern. The same API is used by a range of anti-phishing/anti-malware extensions. “
This new API probably won’t kill the old way things work anyways because it would kill a lot of security features, so there’s a chance it won’t roll out anyways.
so uuuuh google is planning to break adblockers so if you block adds you might not wanna use chrome forever

Technically, this is a haiku:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku_in_English
“"Haiku" is a term sometimes loosely applied to any short, impressionistic poem, but there are certain characteristics that are commonly associated with the genre:
a focus on some aspect of nature or the seasons[1][2]
division into two asymmetrical sections, usually with a cut at the end of the first or second section, creating a juxtaposition of two subjects (e.g. something large and something small, something natural and something human-made, two unexpectedly similar things, etc.)
a contemplative or wistful tone and an impressionistic brevity[3][4][5]
elliptical "telegram style" syntax and no superfluous words
imagery predominates over ideas and statements, so that meaning is typically suggestive, requiring reader participation
avoidance of metaphor and similes
non-rhyming lines“
This is all that’s really required for a haiku.

This month’s tutorial thing, tails, specifically! I know it’s not a super deep or lengthy topic, but they all can’t be. Specifically focusing on anthro tails, their placement, anatomy, etc, how I do them.

Do this four times repeatedly and you’ll be out. But how does it work? There’s some real brain science behind it.

I’m watching a playthrough of Bioshock for the first time… I thought it was a straight-up horror game when it first came out, so I stayed away from it for ages.  I was missing out.
So far, Atlas is my favorite character.  He seems a little morally skewed, but he’s at least being helpful.
