I must avoid silicones in skincare at all cost - though I can't avoid it in makeup and shampoos unless I splurge. Alcohol - I try. I realized that I can't take any derivatives of myristic acid in my cleansers.

I should seriously go and look for hard-to-find items at the airport. Only a straight bus ride from home :)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
I just watched this movie yesterday. I was totally looking forward to it. The movie wasn't as exciting as I expected, except for the battling part. The whole movie took on a tragic feel, with the exception of some weak attempts at humour by Ron and Neville. I was expecting something longer than 130 minutes, thought it ended too fast. One more thing, the ending skipped a lot of dialogue in the book - I was particularly looking forward to 'give love to Neville' (now Herbology Professor). Oh, and I seriously think they got the wrong actor to portray Neville Longbottom.
But well, all in all, it's a so-so ending for my favourite movie series.

Burnt out?
This is my sixth week of internship, and I'm feeling exhausted. I am slipping into familiar mode at work, and don't worry as much. However, I do feel that being familiar goes together with being mundane. I haven't been heading out on weekends as much as I should. As an example, I slept till evening today, and napped for another 4 hrs till 10pm, and I still feel like turning in now '-.- I hardly got anything done for goodness sake!
There's nothing much to rant about the internship, really. My colleagues are nice, and there aren't any office politics around. Somehow, though, I don't feel satisfied with the environment, and can't imagine staying there for long-term. This stint gives me an experience of how my future worklife is going to be. No matter how much I wish my future job can be linked to Japanese things, I don't have the relevant qualifications. Time to start looking for potential jobs.
Exhaustion...lethargy....leave me alone...

Hanjuku Tamago. Firm exterior with creamy yolk. This is the simplest recipe I found online, though without the marinade.

http://www.siamyoko.com/index.php
I finally found my holy grail body scrub, after months of searching since last year (I admit I wasn't very steadfast in searching :x) I ended my search last Thursday when I chanced upon YOKO in the medicated products section in Mustafa Centre. So exhilarated when I saw the familiar round tubs that I've seen umpteen times in beauty books, as well as online sites.
I was introduced to this brand of salt scrub from a book of a Taiwanese blogger which I bought. The Yahoo blogger, Su Hua Hou 苏花猴, strongly recommends the product, reviewing that the salt made her skin baby soft and silky smooth. From what I heard, the Taiwanese beauty show Nu Ren Wo Zui Da (Queen) has raved about it before, further supporting its status. So when I finally found this product (at long last - you can imagine my extent of relief, mixed with sprinkles of euphoria) I ripped off the packaging and used it immediately upon reaching home.
Selling at S$5.80 each (roughly the same as Taiwan), they are a great steal. They work really well, despite their simple ingredient lists. I bought two tubs - Yoghurt and Green Tea. I hate having too many synthetic chemicals on my skin, so I took a good long look (to the extent of staring down the ingredient labels) before purchasing. There are in all four flavours available in tub packaging - Green Tea, Yoghurt (apparently their most raved product, inferring from the company profile http://www.siamyoko.com/profile.php), Cucumber and Papaya. Green Tea, Yoghurt and Papaya flavours settled well with me; the only one exception was Cucumber. There is actually sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) in the ingredient list! In case you didn't know, SLS is a common substance found in (almost all) shampoos, shower foams, skincare products etc. Basically it is the foaming agent and cleans off oil well - that's because it's also an ingredient in floor detergent! Hence, I wash off my shampoo real quick in the shower since I can't really avoid it, but I NEVER ever use it on my face. That's a sure way to sensitize your skin (note that I said sensitize, not sensitive skin - a lot of times I feel, people are not born with, but rather sculpted into sensitive skin, due to usage of overly harsh chemicals, such as SLS)
The end result? Velvety smooth and soft skin. The effect is subtle, but it's there. I don't feel it immediately after usage, but rather over the days after using the bath salt. I will continue using it since I like the smell (Green Tea smells like being in a fresh grassy field, very invigorating) and its effects. Another rave is that the salt crystals melt on your skin quickly upon contact, its texture resembling massage oil, yet without the oiliness.
Well that's all for my review, not the best, but I hope it does give peeps out there an idea of this product's functions. For the convenience of people who have a preference for natural products like me, here are the ingredient lists:
Green Tea Spa Salt Shower Bath : Sodium Chloride (NaCl), Glycerine, Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Green tea, Fragrance
Yoghurt Spa Milk Salt Shower Bath: Sodium Chloride (NaCl), Glycerine, Texan N28L, Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Vitamin B, Collagen, Milk, Yogurt Extract
*P.S. There are loads of shops in Lucky Plaza that sells Yoko bath salts in packet form, but I'm not sure if they are exactly the same as those in tubs that are raved about. Both are manufactured by the same company, though I mistook the packet forms to be a spin-off imitation label of the original YOKO (they look really cheapskate).

Green Juice (青汁)

(Pictures are not owned by me: found through Google Image Search)
