In chapter two of my Encanto fic, there's a diary entry that I really need into another font because italics just won't do. So I've been learning HTML code and practicing them on a HTML playground.

In my Encanto fic, Mirabel, now 16-17 years old, learns magic through pressed flowers. Each flower grants a different ability and she stores them in a sketchbook. Mirabel also now has a better relationship with her family, especially her sister.

Kinda feeling bad right now because a while ago I posted a poll on what something in a chapter should be but ended up going in another direction due to discovering a small inconsistency in the chapter's outline. I had posted the chapter already but didn't mentioned anything about the decision I had made, assuming my readers would just go on with it but one of my readers did in fact notice and now I feel like shit. But now I'm feeling worse because probably my other readers who are also on tumblr did notice as well but were probably too nice to say anything 😩.

I already apologized in the comments but that reader whoever you are (still haven't figured out your identity yet 😭) I am super sorry and it was super incompetent of me. I'm new to ao3 and fanfiction in general so I didn't think these sort of things were such a big deal but I have learned my lesson and will definitely do better in future chapters and AUs.

Update on the update

Okay...This Encanto fic is taking way too long and I'm dry out of ideas. It's not abandoned (not yet anyways) but I figured it will be best if I focus on finishing my Among Us AU which only has three chapters left.

A few days ago, I decided to outline the rest of the chapters. What I really love about Google Docs' new feature TABS is that I can work on multiple fics in the same document. I've been using it ever since, including the planning and writing of my upcoming AUs.

How I outline is by just writing the major plot points that will happen in the chapter with bullet points but today I decided to use an old favourite of mine Milanote to plan. It works a lot like a flexible mood board where you can add pictures, notes and even playlists to your project planning. On Milanote, I'm planning the next chapter like a mind map with notes and arrows, like this:

It's not much since I'm still getting used to it but that's basically it 😅

I recommend Milanote for those who like to plan in a non-linear form. It's not only for writing, it can be used for any creative project!

Currently taking a break from my Among Us AU (hope my darling readers don't mind!) and want to write a (possible) Encanto one-shot, in hopes to getting used to writing in more rigid lore fandoms. I also like a lot of series (like Spider-Man) but I think I'll be writing fics more for movies since that OCD part of my brain just can't function without following canon and I've only like two episodes to one season into said show lol.

So my idea is that Mirabel gains magic through pressed flowers. She's 16-17 years old now and has a better relationship with her family, especially with her sisters. Each flower grants an ability, and work a lot like glyphs from The Owl House ( my new fav show!) so probably Mirabel can keep them on pieces of paper or in a small sketchbook so that she can can whip 'em out and activate them when needed. Still, decided on a title. Maybe something like "I Have Magic!" or 'Flower Power' or something lol.

So that basically the idea for now and as you can see it is very much still in development but Encanto has always been one of my favourite movies and writing this fic would seriously help getting me out of my comfort zone so I'm super excited!

I didn't write much today (barely 200 words yikes) but I did play the game a bit since chap 5 is set in a new location (Polus, like in the actual game). I played in practice mode so I could fully immerse myself and get the location right to fully convey them in the chap.

Spoilers: there's another murder. So I'm still deciding where the body would be found. I took these screenshots:

Coding Genius 😎💻

So firstly, I've decided that my Among Us AU will be 8 chapters long since I have already gotten the ending in mind. Speaking of which, the ending would include a news clipping so to get prepared I went to a few websites to see if it was possible.

I am relatively new to ao3 but I was surprised of how easy it was. I mean, I already have a bit of knowledge on HTML and Python since I'm the coding and robotics club at school, but the website provided EVERYTHING for me, from the steps to the actual code. So I did the necessary and tada! I uploaded the workskin.

I don't know if it will work because I was surprised that it was just so easy that I am endlessly grateful and --admittedly-- a little bit suspicious (quirks of being a mystery writer, I suppose 😩)

I was writing chapter five of my Among Us AU in the night when I started having some chest pains. I took some pills but it happened AGAIN when I was just thinking of continuing what I was writing in my notebook. This time it was a full blown period-pain-when-you-forgot-you-took-a-buttload-of-sugar-the-day-before but in my stomach, and I was sent home early, where I am currently writing this.

To be honest, it was probably less of the curse and more of the fact that my health has been deteriorating since I started high school but if I said that, this post would be all medical and pitiful and be sounding like I'm a kicked puppy, and that's boring.

So it's definitely the curse 😁👍

I think the only 'disadvantage' of writing fanfiction about a piece of media with minimal lore is that you have basically nothing to work with. For the next chapter of my AU, I'm setting it in a new location that's also exists in the actual game. It's the planet base Polus (which is also one of my least favorite locations to play in the game due to how much I get killed lol).

The location is actually a pretty good concept. In the game's lore, Polus is a planetary research base that has both freezing temperature and volcanic activity. And due to it's low visibility, you can hardly see where your going (or when you get killed wink wink). It feels like a very isolated, unpredictable environment which I really want to convey in the next chapter. So as reference, I made a moodboard to represent what I wanted Polus to feel like if it existed in real life.

I played the location in the actual game on practice mode to really get the feel of it. It's actually quite modern, ig due to the fact that it has an entertainment system, living-room-esque hallways with picture frames, lockers, a bathroom and even coffee cups and donuts! But it kinda felt like squeaky clean but in a really creepy way? Like visiting an uncle's house that doesn't feel quite right...
