Shipping rarepairs is so wild because people who are, yk, normal, will see two characters with chemistry in the source material and go "yeah."
Meanwhile I'm spending days in the lab cooking up the most perfectly niche little ship that no one else has ever even come close to thinking about and then just sit there because there's literally not a single person I can talk to it about
