Hello mr boss man! Is The Magnus Protocol going to have 40 episodes per season like The Magnus Archives did?
The Magnus Protocol will have three seasons. Each season will have 30 episodes. Thanks to generous Patrons and Kickstarter Backers there will also be the following bonus content on a per season basis: 1) An Epilogue episode 2) A Fluff episode 3) A What If episode 4) Actual play episodes There will also be other bonus materials but to my knowledge the above are guaranteed whereas the rest are negotiable. There will also be a short spin off podcast and some other fan facing stuff. That means the "core" story content will run at 93 episodes but you should expect significantly more than that if you include all the bells and whistles.

Something I try to keep in mind when making art that looks vintage is keeping a limited color pallette. Digital art gives you a very wide, Crisp scope of colors, whereas traditional art-- especially older traditional art-- had a very limited and sometimes dulled use of color.
This is a modern riso ink swatch, but still you find a similar and limited selection of colors to mix with. (Mixing digitally as to emulate the layering of ink riso would be coloring on Multiply, and layering on top of eachother 👉)
Tumblr media
If you find some old prints, take a closer look and see if you can tell what colors they used and which ones they layered... a lot of the time you'll find yellow as a base!
Tumblr media
Misprints can really reveal what colors were used and where, I love misprints...
Something else I keep in the back of my mind is: how the human eye perceives color on paper vs. a screen. Ink and paint soaks into paper, it bleeds, stains, fades over time, smears, ect... the history of a piece can show in physical wear. What kind of history do you want to emulate? Misprinted? Stained? Kept as clean as possible, but unable to escape the bluing damages of the sun? It's one of my favorite things about making vintage art. Making it imperfect!
Tumblr media
You can see the bleed, the wobble of the lines on the rug, the fading, the dirt... beautiful!!
Thinking in terms of traditional-method art while drawing digital can help open avenues to achieving that genuine, vintage look!

I need to talk about Jonathan being like the lamb in Book of Revelation so badly because I am incredibly autistic about both TMA and the Book of Revelation but I don’t know if I can do my thoughts justice.
For context, the Book of Revelation is a book in the Bible that essentially details the events of the second coming of Jesus, or the biblical apocalypse, which is nothing short of absolutely horrific.
Now, the apocalypse itself is started specifically in heaven, if I recall, by a seven-eyed and seven-horned lamb that is said to have been slain. It’s believed that this lamb is meant to represent Jesus in some form. The lamb is then given a scroll which bears seven seals, and, because it was slain, is deemed worthy to open the seals.
The seals are the first stage of the apocalypse, with each seal releasing something new upon the world, sending it into a state of disarray.
I find the interpretation of the lamb being Jesus especially interesting, because it is Jesus who ends the apocalypse.
I don’t think these parallels are intentional, but Jon definitely fits the role of the slain lamb, instead of being slain, he is worthy because he has been marked, although you could argue his death and rebirth as an Avatar counts to making him worthy as well. With only a piece of paper, he ends the world, and it is him who, to a degree, then ends the apocalypse as well.
His original plan somewhat aligns with Revelation, and how Jesus will, for a period of time, rule over the world until Satan - The Dragon - arises from the lake of sulphur again. Jon did intend to ‘rule’ the world, and speed up its demise. Instead of defeating Satan, he intended to defeat the fears.
Again, I don’t think it’s intentional, but interesting parallels nonetheless.
And yes, he is compared to the antichrist, and the antichrist does come from Revelation, but he far better suits the role of Jesus and the Lamb than any of the Beasts.
This is a very messy explanation that I’ll maybe do a more cohesive post on later, with actual sources too!
It’s not meant to be serious as much as it is me noticing similarities between two interests of mine!

It's a second time we get a case told post mortem and explicitly mentioned malnourishment. I suspect all three of them, the unknown drowning victim, Darrien and Violent, were all in a specific fear domain in the post change world and were then transported into the Protocol verse.
The drowning victim and Violet were less lucky than Darrien who managed to survive. The drowning victim was in a Vast/Buried domain and Violet in a Lonely with an influence from a bunch of other fears: Web (spiders), Spiral (turning passageways), Corruption (mold, disease). Darrien was either not in a domain/from a third universe or was in a Spiral domain.
Now onto the statements. Both times the corpses telling of their fears that led to their deaths chronologically happened after Sam and Alice visited the ruins of the Magnus Institute and released [Error] so it could be that [Error] is what's causing them to give statements
Also it's another instance of a case with a potential interdimensional travel on days Celia's sleep walking

Royal Mint Court is a building complex that according to Wikipedia was first a plague cemetery during the Black Death then abbey then the British Royal Mint whose architecture was completed by one Robert Smirke.
Surely that has nothing to do with the plot.

if a supervillain said "you wont kill me thatd make you just like me" i would simply say "no it wouldnt id be saving millions of people" and the villain would say "but youd be dooming yourself. could you really live knowing youre a killer" and id say "well id certainly have trouble. ill probably be very sad about it. definitely a lot to unpack" and theyd say "so you wont do it" and id say "oh no im still gonna" and theyd say "what" and id say "youre a supervillain responsible for countless deaths and yet here you are desperately trying to bargain for your life. you want to live. which means you can easily live with yourself after being responsible for countless deaths. i, on the other hand, will at the very least have tremendous difficulty with even killing just one person and at worst might just jump out a window right after i do it. the very nature of this whole conversation about whether we are the same has proven to me we are very much not the same and i am certain killing you to save millions is the morally correct decision here" and theyd say "what" and id say "get killed idiot"

I think people going about Jon being in the therapist office are forgetting the very important part that they were in a place for court-ordered therapy. We don't have the insane take of a version of Jonathan Sims that seeks help we have a version of Jonathan Sims that somehow commited a crime and was forced by law to finally go to therapy.

x files studies but this time I tired to achieve that VHS feeling. I very vaguely remember watching some episodes as a kid, and I think this is as close as I've ever got to recreating that memory of a small, grainy tv in a dark room
