Reblogging for Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month
At the risk of sounding like a snobā¦Iām glad my country is giving families more choices/resources to avoid public school. Especially for disabled kids.Ā

*TW Animal Death Mention*
If the Kraken is Neptuneās pet ā¦then it makes Book 2ās ending really sad. When Neptune has to help kill the Kraken to stop a shipwreck .
Very reminiscent of when people have to euthanize their dogs for violently attacking someone.
Itās hard to tell if the Kraken was literally Neptunes pet. On one hand he did take good care of it , providing shelter and food. On the other hand he shows 0 emotional attachment to the Kraken. Unlike with the Narwhal.

Back to āEmily Windsnapā goodness. #Mermay is in a few weeks, might as well post this. Enjoy! Characters belong to Liz Kessler. [Video description: drawings of a woman sitting by a porthole eating donuts, a mermaid swimming just outside a porthole with a shocked look at her own tail, a merman hiding right under that same porthole looking lustfully at a woman, two mermaids swimming through a porthole in a shipwreck, and the woman from the first drawing being hypnotized with a watch to sleep while dreaming about a merperson in a shipwreck. End description.]

Having just seen the trailer for The Mitchells vs the Machinesā¦
Maybe this is why the director denied his characters being autistic.
(āThat was never a thought that we had in terms of intentionā¦ā)

Doom-thinking now about how A.I. art may turn all creative jobs into mere hobbies. And how social media has made it much easier to find cheap labor outsourcing for art. Sorry art degree students. Sorry wannabe Disney animators. Your years of blood and sweat and tears and money will no longer be a pipeline to a full time creative career. Back to your shitty day jobsāif you have jobsāand relegating what you hoped to make a creative career, to a mere hobby . Or part-time job. Or a few short gigs. Because full time creative jobs are dying a slow death.

It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!

In light of Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month:
One on hand, Iām glad to see more online positivity for autism and tips for how autistic people can live well.
On the other hand, it scares me to see most of that positivity or helpful advice not come from medical institutions. Instead itās from personal accounts. Or advocacy groups with a clear agenda who wouldnāt dare say anything negative, hence they have reasons to lie. Even worse the only autism positivity Iāve seen is all online and never offline. As though autistic people are never offline.
(Unless itās in a movie like Siaās Music based on stereotypes and not on scientific research. )
