just saw a post about mary shelley losing her virginity on her mom’s grave and it confronted me with the fact that i know So Much about this woman so:

-yes it is true that she had sex on her mom’s grave. she also spent a lot of time there growing up. she used to read in the graveyard, often her mother’s work, as a way of remembering her. she and her mom were feminists of their time. wow what a quirky introvert, just chilling with a good book and some ghosts

-she was kind of a homewrecker. when she met her soon to be husband percy shelley, he already had a (very much pregnant) wife

-this wife died of mysterious circumstances. they found her in a river. spooky af

-she wrote frankenstein (or at least came up with the idea) at 18 i believe as part of a ghost story competition with a bunch of other writers at lord byron’s house, which she won

-she is rumored to have kept percy’s calcified heart on her person at all times after he died. although this is just speculation, since it cannot be proved that she did not do this, i choose to believe it

in conclusion, she’s a spooky bitch and an icon
