Why can’t we be honest with each other? Why can't I bawl in the grocery store? Why can’t I answer the question “how are you doing?” with “I spent most of the morning sobbing on the floor of the shower, how about you?” Why can’t I run to you and cling to your neck because I feel so alone? Why do people tell little civil lies to each other all the time?
How are you really doing?

I could go out at night and party, I suppose, but frankly I really enjoy doing trig substitution integrals a lot more.

When you need to ask an acquaintance a question, but you feel silly sending an email with just one sentence, so you randomly put in filler words so it doesn't look so weird.

I remember the happiest day of my life. We were in New York, at the Met, just wandering around and looking at all the art and talking about nice things. It was like an afternoon of sunshine, a day at the beach, the first bite of a luscious bagel. I was content.

I miss the taste of your love. Everything has lost it’s flavor.

Dear Calculus,
Be my Valentine. I don’t understand everything about you, but every day I am more and more struck by your unusual beauty. I’m not perfect, and even though I try to answer all your questions, I know sometimes I will fail. You give me a headache some times, with all your rules and unknowns. But I will still keep trying because you are beautiful and worth it to me.
With love,
Your ardent student

I keep on saving poems to read to you even though I know I never will. At night I dream of kissing you in spring sunshine and I hope you will be well.

I spend my whole life waiting by the phone for a call that will never come. Insanity, isn't it?

When you rearrange a paragraph and suddenly you sound like a thoughtful, reasonable being with a well thought out and persuasive argument.

I read in an anatomy book that ovaries contain millions of eggs all formed before birth. I think that's really cool, that even before I was born they were there, just waiting for a day when they could make another person like me.
