Tuning In
While looking at an old set of walkie talkies I had I remembered the time a friend and I accidentally tuned in to a police scanner frequency. We just kind of sat there stunned. I wondered what would happen if I pressed the button and talked, but for obvious reasons I didn’t. We eventually shut the walkie talkie off, but I’ll never forget the surprise I felt when I realized what we were listening to.

Thoughts about Santa
Here’s a random thought. If Santa was real he'd be charged with: stalking and unlawful surveillance (the list), forced slave labor (the elves), flying without a pilot's license (the sleigh), going into a no-fly zone (potentially), trespassing (delivering presents), breaking and entering (potentially), causing an auditory disturbance (the bells on the sleigh jingling at night), and probably more I haven’t thought of. So next time you hear someone mention Santa Claus, tell them this.

Release Dates
Planned release dates are dumb. When I finish a game I release it, simple as that. There’s no waiting for a specific date regardless of the progress, it just comes out when it’s ready. It also has the benefit of not needing to announce a delay if one is needed since there is no release date to delay from.

Gource Joke
When you use Gource to visualize your source code, you could say that it becomes gource code.
I’ll see myself out now.

Brewing Java
I really like Java, unfortunately though this blog is called Game Development with No Coffee.
I should be arrested for making jokes this bad.

Ouch
I just bit my lip the other day, hard. Thankfully it didn’t bleed too much, but needless to say that hurt.

I just finished VVVVVV after buying it yesterday. I thought it would have taken me longer but it was so addicting that I just stuck to it and completed it over the course of the last 24 hours. In terms of actual in game time I took just around 4 hours in total to complete it. It was pretty fun and was a challenge that had a reasonable difficulty progression. I will admit though that I did need to look up a walkthrough for some levels, but I’m pretty sure that’s just me and not the game’s fault. All in all it’s a great game and totally worth $5 that I paid for it.

I went down into my basement and got a nasty surprise! I think it goes without saying that this was not what I was expecting to be down there!

Getting there
It’s taking me a little bit, but day by day my passion for creation has been returning. Recently I’ve been a bit down and not very productive, as mentioned in a previous post. However every day the itch to make something becomes harder and harder to ignore. So hopefully I’ll be properly working on something and not just opening a blank project, doing something in it for an hour, and then not doing anything with it for the next two weeks.

A new coat of paint
I updated my personal website. It now looks slightly less terrible than before.
