So, this took root 1 day to write,
me 100 hours to draw
and you 10 seconds to read (spend a little longer plz?)
Really proud of this one! I wanted to practice action and experiment with different coloring styles and I thank root so much for being patient as I tried out different things. Root, I loved going back and forth with you over the pages at every stage. I adore how you captured both Talanah's and Aloy's voices as they casually converse while fighting an angry Thunderjaw.
Hope you enjoyed the Sunhawk teasing her Thrush!!
Happy Covention anniversary (7/2), here are some Lumity crumbs (Final part)
This is a bit angsty
1. In this situation, it is mainly Lilith's fault for secretly putting the glyph on Amity and making her unknowingly cheat. I don't understand how Luz is the one who embarrasses Amity? It's a duel so they're supposed to fight. Luz isn't the one putting the glyph on Amity's nape and making Amity cheat. If anyone has opinions about this, please let me know.
Yet, Luz still says sorry and explains that she doesn't mean to embarrass Amity. She is so selfless and she puts aside her feelings to comfort Amity, who is used by her mentor in the duel.
2. And the next conversation is the reason why Amity makes this deal in the Everlasting Oath, in my opinion.
Amity tells Luz about how hard she has been working to be on top, while Luz doesn't take learning magic seriously, not to mention Amity has magical abilities, and Luz doesn't
So in Amity's POV, Luz is a human having no magical abilities but still claims she's a witch just because she feels like it and she says so. That reminds me of a quote in Zootopia. “Life isn't some cartoon musical where you sing a little song and all your insipid dreams magically come true.” Therefore, Amity thinks Luz wants to learn magic just for fun and not putting much effort into it, and even resorts to cheating, given how Luz gets involved in two cheating incidents: the first time is when Luz pretends to be an Abomination and helps Willow cheat, the second time is in the witches’ duel. Eda creates the traps, and Luz gets involved in that cheating situation even though she doesn't want to cheat in the duel.
3. The first understanding
Hence, when Luz shows Amity that she can do magic by actually learning with effort, Amity's perception changes. Amity now thinks Luz and her now have one thing in common. Even though they're not geniuses at magic, they still try hard to be better by working hard. Amity starts to see Luz in a different light. Luz isn't a natural witch, but she has passion for magic, and she also tries hard to study by improvising just like Amity. Therefore, after seeing how serious and passionate Luz is with magic, unlike how she initially perceived Luz, Amity breaks the Everlasting Oath. In the end, Amity seems to believes in Luz's future abilities to do magic.
“In 1404, King Taejong fell from his horse during a hunting expedition. Embarrassed, looking to his left and right, he commanded, “Do not let the historian find out about this.” To his disappointment, the historian accompanying the hunting party included these words in the annals, in addition to a description of the king’s fall.“
Shoutout to Dana who really said "oh, we have an hour left? well, we're gonna go out in style" and made Luz strike a deal with a bigender God with a dad bod, have Luz quote her special interest whilst defeating a crusty puritan with the power of god and anime, have said crusty puritan get stomped to death by Jesus, a nonbinary musician and a harpy wine aunt, made Lumity kiss again, made Aladarius a thing, gave future Luz the most gender design, broke the 4th wall and flipped off Disney whilst doing so. Truly the creator ever
