Our cousin is a system and they're hanging with us rn and it's nuts. Like this is the biggest crackfic crossover you'll ever experience. We have CJ Starlight Mayhem joke-wrestling Auditor Madcom as they call each other gay because they're adoptive brothers. You have Lemres Puyo Puyo getting math tutoring from Niko OneShot because Niko is better at polynomials than them. You have Yeong-Ho Garcia Blaseball discussing the similarities between Nevada and the Immaterial Plane with Hank J. Wimbleton. We have an Undertale Character talking to a Mii. What is going on. We love our family.

"DID can only develop before ages 6-9″ is a myth, and here’s why
Oh, and the idea that it only develops through repeated childhood trauma is also a myth, and we’ll address that too.
So we should clarify - there are plenty of studies that point to the idea that DID often develops in young children who have experienced repeated childhood trauma. That is not what we’re disputing - many DID systems form this way and is likely to be the most common way DID is formed. However, it’s not the only way.
Firstly, we have an epistemological objection to this commonly circulated myth. The problem with studying DID (and any psychiatric disorder, really) is that you cannot do scientific studies in the same way that you can in other fields. In most scientific studies, your goal is to have something that’s observable, testable, and most important replicable and repeatable. This is simply not an option in psychiatry. You cannot repeat or replicate a study into the development of a child’s brain, because that person will only be a child once. You cannot go back in time to do it over again. You also cannot keep human beings in an environment in which you could study their day to day lives 24/7. And hopefully it goes without saying you cannot run unethical experiments or tests on them.
So when trying to study the development of DID, there’s no way you can run [traditional] scientific studies to determine beyond a reasonable doubt how and when DID forms. The absolute best you can do is a hypothesis or model that is supported by a large amount of evidence. The way the information is often obtained in psychiatric studies is by listening to the experiences of others. You must record experiences that are not provable, that are not something that can be observed or repeated. Experiences are highly subjective! What might be traumatic for one person might not be for another, and what might be traumatic “enough” to form DID in one person might not be for another, etc.
And most importantly, above anything else? No two human brains are the same. Brains are highly complex and individual. There are many things we simply don’t understand about how it works or why it does the things that it does. At best you can make generalizations, but even then there will always be exceptions.
So all of that being said, here’s some relevant sources.
>> An interview with Dr. Mike Lloyd, a DID consultant clinical psychologist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzxqLt0kheY&ab_channel=MultiplicityAndMe
When asked about the cut-off age of DID, he says: “We don’t yet know enough… We don’t have a critical window for the development of identity… That does not exist within the human being. We don’t have that cut-off point to say, the identity is completely and utterly certain, by the age of [blank]. It’s just not there, because there’s so many infinite probabilities for how identity can be formed.” <<
>> Dissociative disorders (including “multiple personalities” in this study) being observed in a 32-year old man following a traumatic brain injury: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10230523/ <<
>> “Multiple personality disorder” found in Vietnam veterans, most likely to be associated with trauma experienced during war, rather than during childhood: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF00946278 <<
>> This study which dives in-depth to the experiences of systems, some of which account their experiences of multiplicity during the “pre-trauma period” indicating the development of multiplicity before trauma: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S246874991730090X?via%3Dihub <<

System culture is every single main fronter using pronouns that don't align with the body's gender and therefore being hyperaware of and uncomfortable with the fact that those pronouns are used every time any of us front.

Last night when we needed to be asleep Cameron was triggered out on accident and proceeded to continue talking for another hour on VC and now we've only had five and a half hours of sleep 🧍
He spent five minutes going back and forth with my friend because he wasn't leaving until they said 'I love you' back. Y'know, like an annoying sibling.

UPDATE New headmate appeared and im 99% sure it was because of the stuff in the last post which is really funny to me because what. Its basically just a musical. On the bright side it's the fictive we've known would be coming bc we've felt them forming for like two months, so I guess its kinda relieving to at least have her around instead of having the brain holding her above our head waiting for the perfect Stressor(tm) to chuck her at us at lightning speed. Hello Annie.

Weird Plural Problems: Watching a youtube video that has a character whose voice sounds exactly like how one of your headmates sounds.
but the video is about said character's death and you get genuinely upset about it because their voice sounds so much like your headmate's you can't help associating them.

So... They Have Started Doing Research On Non-Traumagetic Systems
Info about me: I am a traumagetic OSDD1B system, that's all. I'm not too open about it but I thought I should make it clear that I'm not posting this out of bias.
They recently have started doing research on non-traumagetic systems over the past 4 or so years. Research on this type of thing will go extremely slow and even if you self identify as a sysmed I please beg you to atleast keep an open mind while they do this research. If the main reason you're against non-traumagenic systems is because of the lack of research & evidence, then I expect you to not immediately shut down the research and just let them do their thing and see how it goes.
Here is what has been researched so far.
Tulpas and Mental Health: A Study of Non-Traumagenic Plural Experiences by Jacob J Isler
(If you do not belong to a culture, you can not decide what they should find offensive. However, if Buddhists come forward and say they are uncomfortable with non-buddhist systems using the term "tulpa", I think the community would be open to change the name and use different terminology.)
This study included:
The idea that although plurality can be a part of a disorder, it does not have to be one (defining disorder as the cause for dysfunction or harm in one's life) as it can be possible for a system to live together without harm or dysfunction or that plurality can be therapeutic to some
A small amount of info on the online tulpa community (began in 2010 for example)
The affects having tulpas have on people's brains (Over half of the subjects have been diagnosed with a mental illness and/or neurodivergancy, including 25% of tulpamancers were reported to be autistic, 21% have ADHD/ADD, and 18% have some sort of an anxiety disorder. 94% of these people found improvement in their coping abilities, functioning, and social interactions after developing tulpas)
Details on how a tulpa may help the subject cope with and control their mental illnesses, including a respondent with schizophrenia claiming they're able to help them through delusions and hallucinations.
The average ages of tulpa systems, the average of where they live, and the average of the hosts' race.
How more recent studies say that even with traumagenic plurality, the goal isn't always "merging" the system together but can also be to live with the system healthily
It's important to note that there were only around 365 accounts that responded to the surveys taken, so the sample sizes were kind of small. It's also important to note that this study wasn't done to claim whether or not tulpas are real, but to examine the mental health of tulpa systems.
In short: there is general improvement in the lives of those who gain tulpa systems, according to this study.
Personality Characteristics of Tulpamancers and Their Tulpas by Anna Martin, Bailey Thompson and Steven Lancaster
This study included:
A slightly more detailed (but not by much) history of how the tulpa community formed
More info on how tulpas can be creates to personify and over come fears
91% of participants stated their tulpas positively impacted their life, 9% of participants stated it had a neutral impact
78% of participants with mental health issues stated the tulpas had a positive impact on their coping ability and mental health, 22% of participants stated it had a neutral impact
47% of participants all together stated tulpas had a positive impact on their social life, 49% stated the impact was neutral
This one did test the relationship & personality differences between the tulpa and subject
Some of the people interviewed in the first study were also interviewed in this one, giving similar answers and responses to the questions. So you may find a quote from a subject or two to be the same in this study and the study above.
Multiplicity: An Explorative Interview Study on Personal Experiences of People with Multiple Selves by Gergő Ribáry, László Lajtai, and Aniko Maraz
This study was mostly interviews, but it's important to note that because the url ends in .gov it means that the website it was posted on is government regulated. Frontiers in Psychology doesn't seem to be interested in trying to prove whether or not they exist, but trying to make their experiences more well-known.
This source includes:
Both traumagetic and non-traumagetic plurality
Their message of pushing for more research towards being plural and healthy ways someone can cope with being plural
Historic dates of when major discoveries were found out surrounding multiplicity (From as far back as the 50s to as recent as 2012) and how our understanding of it has changed over the years
How multiplicity is being used to explore the relationship between the stability of the self and the overall wellbeing of someone
Multiple interviews with individual experiences (that lasted from 20 to 70 minutes long) that were consulted by psychiatrists
^^ at the end of the article you can read about the people they interviewed
The different forums including multiplicity over the years
They mention ideas around multiplicity and it's possible connection gender dysphoria
Some extra they pointed out is that they are also moving on to research otherkin identities as well
_____
I kept the studies kinda vague because I want to encourage you guys to read about it yourselves and see what you think.
This should be exciting information for anyone no matter what side of system discourse they're on. Please no trying to contact the people who conducted or were a part of these interviews to send them hate or harassment. The fact that this is being studied at all is very cool in my point of view!
// if I misused some words let me know, I often misplace everyday words or definitions
[ No fighting in the comments. You'll be blocked. Of course, questions & discussions are fine! ]

Anyone else have the issue of feeling weird about making headcanons or fan content of someone who the system has developed a fictive of even if said fictive isn't that connected to their source? Like idk it feels kinda weird bc they are right there even though they're also not the same person.

Welcome to our blog!
Nice to meet you! We're Cosmic Cabin.
We're a system of 11 members as of now, and this is our blog to post our thoughts and our system experiences! We're just chilling, really. We have no intention of getting into much trouble, and most stuff relating to discourse won't be posted here. We just want a safe space to dump our thoughts.
Before You Follow! We are pro-endo, and support all system types. Our body and host are both minors and we'd prefer 18+ blogs not interact. We're ask to tag! Please let us know if there's anything you need! (Though with this in mind, there are a few things we won't tag, such as the word 'queer'.)
It'd be appreciated if you referred to us as 'headmates' or 'system members' rather than any other terms.
Below the cut are the members of our system! (Some have been omitted due to personal preference)
