***Getting to the picture: "Ayumi at Coit Tower"*** This year, I'm going to try not to let my science life snuff out my artistic side. This is a process I do when I take pictures. 1. The first picture is too bright. It brings out Ayumi's sunny disposition, but I wanted to create a more dramatic effect. 2. I brought the temperature down, bringing out the city below and creating a darker tone, but thankfully Ayumi's smile still shines through and carries the photo. 3. I thought I was done, but after going back, I think maybe my I could've made Ayumi's lips a little more red to indicate warmth. But now I noticed that the skyline was too separated and flushed. I had to soften the transition. Finally, I wanted to highlight Ayumi's eyes so I brought out the iris. Then the other eye was drivng. me. NUTS. And I didn't want to use another app so I just created a clone to make a reflection through the iris. In medicine, this is called the fundus (of the eye) exam and is visualized by healthcare pros to indicate health. I finished off the picture by polishing some minor details and voila! I wanted to do more but I've learned a while ago to leave well enough alone or you'll drive yourself crazy. Can you notice the difference in the details? In the mayor's plight to increase visibility, he caused The City's spirit to disappear.
