I did a garden harvest today and got raspberry and strawberries and made some tiny hand pies from scratch!!

The pastry crust recipe:

8tbsp butter room temp

(1 stick)

1Tbsp sugar

1 cup flour (sifted helps)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

2 1/2 tbsp Luke warm water

Mix dry ingredients then add butter cut up mix with fork or whisk until grainy texture then add vanilla and water into dough form. Set in parchment or other closed option for 30 minutes in fridge before working with it!

I just crushed up my raspberries in a bowl and spooned a little in then sealed the edges with a fork. You get a cute tart little hand pie!

Update: forgot to put temp 350 in the oven for roughly 20 minutes or until slightly brown

Did some garden maintenance today in the rain! My potato tower officially has sprouts peaking through the soil, tomatoes have flowers, and a few carrots you can see the tops of peaking out the soil! Our 3rd year rose bush just produce so so so many roses. I forgot to take full plot photos but got some pretty pictures of the roses with water droplets and peony in another garden plot!

For adding to the plot I transplanted 3 of my 4 loofah starts fingers crossed this spurt of rain in Portland doesn't kill them off this week!!

Holy shoot i finally got back into this account after YEARS I'm still here and I'm still gardening!

Here is the current state of our community garden plot. Lettuce, carrots, peas, celery, and 1 black opal basil plant were planted last week. The blueberry bushes are 3 years old this year along with the rose bush! I have raspberry and marrionberry plants year 1 and 2 in the right corner.

We also have my beautiful rosemary bush that's 3 years old and blooming for the first time!! We have temporarily pulled out all the strawberry plants to build a small raised bed to contain them (big issue with them spreading out last year instead of producing) they'll get replanted hopefully this coming weekend. (5/2/25 is planting day) seeds started indoor waiting for transplant consist of: tomato's, lemon and Japanese cucumbers, loofah, and mammoth basil!

It has been a while have a garden update! A tad frustrated though my community garden plot is obviously not the most beautiful its very chaotic (its kinda my thing) i let it do as it pleases and it does wonderful! With that i believe some other community gardeners think its abandoned, resulting in MY PRODUCT IVE WORK HARD GETTING STOLEN! All my pepper plants were harvested early mind you and taken. I intend to put up some signs requesting people quit stealing my produce. I have a family of 4 i feed plus friends i grow all this for us and them. Losing some of it does affect my family. I plan meals around what i grow what to can what to dry. Gardening is also a passion of mine, helps save money, also i just enjoy it. Its a lot of work. Rant over things are doing great!

I realized i had questions turned off! I have now fixed this! If you have any gardening questions ill do my best to answer! Ive been gardening almost my whole life but i am still learning as we all are. Also submissions are open show me your garden or your house plants or even a sprout you are excited about!

Alright we replaced the dead tomatoes with new ones because i was dumb and the soil was too wet not anymore! I did two rows of strawberry plants because yummy tasty berries. My roommate picked out some pineapple sage and sweet mint, and got a jalapeño for my boyfriend. Our 2 blueberry bushes are thriving! And of course my randomly placed flowers for color. Not shown (not super visible): we have 2 kale sprouts that are getting secondary leaves, the radishes are going crazy, carrots are still slim and hard to see, and we threw down a row of bell peppers and hopefully those pop through soon. These photos are from 3 days ago i will be going back today and im super excited to hopefully see progress. I also have more plants.

Hello! Its been a long time! I qualified for a plot in one of my local community gardens this year plus my apartment garden so we should have tons of produce! Excited to updat yall again this year. And heres the first photos of the season! From my community garden plot.

My patio is a mess apologizes ive been harvesting sunflower seeds. The garden this year has been the best so far in my 4 years of gardening. Regardless of my lack of updates on it haha been busy. Ive successfully grown my favorite flowers this year (sunflowers) X3! Ive managed to harvest 2 pumkins which i was stoked about. Called my mom both times to brag a little hahah. Lots of lemon cucumbers which my mom made me drive an hour to her just to give her one (i agreed to).

But ive also made a lot of mistakes. Didnt plant corn soon enough or in an area with proper light so it's still tiny. All my bell pepper plants got over run by my pumkin plant same with my spinach (stupid me for planting them together in the first place). Attempted carrots and radishes.... waaaayyy to many seeds in one pot... oops. We did try again and are much more successful! I should have transplanted my cherry tomato plant into a bigger pot so i got not a lot of produce my bad. But hey now i know for next year!

Last time i made a text post was January and last update was about month ago. So heres an update. January i was impatient and planted some wild flowers in my area to help with pollination, feburary came around and i was informed that i had to move from my comfy studio with not a lot of warning. A week into February i found an apartment and had to scrounge together roughly 2500 dollars to get it. But hey i did it! My new places is lovely and has a porch where ive been starting my new garden! Sense then ive had to rebuild my garden and HO DAMN I HAVE.

Ive built 3 raised beds in my porch area along with x3 the amount of what i was doing last year. Photos coming soon!
