Cleaning the oceans one step at a time

Two Australians created this container that collects plastic, paper, oil, fuel and detergent floating in the ocean. They want to implement it the middle of next year to clean up the sea worldwide. It seems a great idea. The only “but” as always is money, so they are raising funds to get to their goal. You can see their project and donations here.

Red Riding Hood AU

Rachel Gardner is a typical 16 year old teenager, except she lacked emotions.

She often isolates herself from the other children, heading off into the woods to eat her home-cooked buns and pastries. Her parents always warned her of the dangers of werewolves, witches and demons that lurk in there but she didn’t believe them.

She has one friend, Edward Mason; often called Eddie by Rachel. He helps his father at the local mortuary, cleaning dead bodies and burying them with nice gravestones. Rachel also knows the priest, Abraham Gray, and often confesses her thoughts to him.

One day, when Rachel was out in the forest, she stumbles upon a man covered in bandages, a hoodie, jeans and.... carrying a scythe.

For the first time in a long time, she feels afraid of this mysterious being. She freezes in place as his heterochromatic eyes locked into hers, an eerie, bloodthirsty grin stretching across his face. She runs off towards the village, racing against the somehow fast and agile man. He was inhuman..

Rachel runs home, where her parents catch her just before she hides into her room, and they discuss her arranged marriage to a wealthy man that has been particularly interested in her.. or more her eyes. She tells them no, expressing to them that she did not want this. But it was too late as Daniel Dickens walks into their home, holding the signed marriage papers and smiling happily to himself, musing about her beauty.

He brings her to his home for the day, fawning over her and attempting to get her to warm up to him, before their marriage in 2 months. She just avoids his touch and questions, giving him either a simple nod or short answer.

He eventually becomes aggravated with her, becoming more physical towards her, becoming more frustrated and sarcastic, so she sneaks out after he says he needs to get something.

Feeling empty, she goes back into the woods, not caring about the danger and who she had just ran away from.

As she practically drags her almost dead-like body to the forest, she collapses onto the mossy ground, the chilly air biting at her uncovered arms and fingers.

She hears the sound of footsteps coming to her. The man from before stumbles upon her, smiling wickedly once more, holding the scythe above his, laughing maniacally, but stopping from no reaction from the blonde beneath him. 

He mutters under his breath about her being boring and walks off.

How the world works/prompts

Werewolves are made from a human soul becoming corrupted 

Witches are very rare to come across, but are very evil (and annoying)

Arranged marriages are common in this world, mainly happening when a girl has “come of age” normally at the age of 13 or 14 and being no later than 16

They are married off to older men, normally older than 30

Girls normally have children a year after being married.

Rachel hasn’t come of age yet

Her parents were sick of waiting though

Yes its gonna be a zackray thing, but gonna wait till she’s older at least rip
