Unreliable narrators are one hell of an idea. You can just write whatever, and if a reader points out "hey the way this scene happened should not be physically possible if it's done the way this character described it", you can just be like "yeah I don't trust that fucker either."

what if she sees it and goes “hmm. never mind.” what if his bussy presentation is off?? what if his fart box isn’t pretty enough and she leaves him for someone with a designer anus??

he buys a jade egg he doesn’t know how to use. he eats only pineapple and hopes it somehow helps. he takes a Xanax and considers texting her: “would you still respect me if my backdoor had… character?”

he lights a sandalwood candle. whispers “for love” before trying a bleach wipe that immediately makes him see stars.

meanwhile, Rook’s at home like: “i would tongue that dusty academic’s ass raw and thank him for the opportunity.”

It's Forgotten Realms based with my OC Kitalia Deathsinger.

The Statue of Jade - I plan on making it a series eventually called The Deathsinger. I honestly have no idea how long it will be or how often I will be updating it, but it's been living in my head rent free for months. @vera-king-hrfl as always has been reading my random drivel over it for a while and even pinged some future ideas at me (you're the best bestie 😭). I've been exhausted, I'm sure there are gramatical and spelling errors. I try to fix them as I go, but if you see something that just sounds really awful, please tell me.

There's only 2 chapters so far. It's - I really don't know how to describe it, so here's the summary I made for it on AO3 -

Kitalia is lost to time. Her family, friends, all she knew long since dead and forgotten. Hope of ever being free lost.

Un-life is long. Kingdoms, cities, even the lands constantly shift, change, rise and fall. Only Kitalia stays the same. Never changing, never aging, untouched for millennia.

Ancient parchments find their way into the hands of leader of Bregan D'aerth. As Jarlaxle looks over the writings, realization strikes him that there is more to these than a mere record of the past. With the help of Artemis Entreri, he is off to find the jade statue of one Kitalia Deathsinger, a treasure worth it's weight in gold.

I'm thinking of mingling it with BG3 lore, but haven't reached that point yet.

So, there it is. My other fic (World Apart) has been on hiatus for a long ass time mostly because I got stuck on how to deal with certain details and I'm not sure when I'll pic it back up.

I did a double major anthropology/classical studies for my first BA. Even back then (1990s), it was reinforced that race was a social construct. Our education systems need to teach this - WE are all one species. There is no difference between the varying shades aside from the amount of melanin visible. It is something culturally maintained, and parrotted by bigots to oppress those they see as 'different' or 'other'.

never stops being existentially horrifying to realize that someone you're talking to thinks that there is any kind of biological basis for "race" like the amount of people who are like 'racism is bad, of course race is a real scientific thing it's just bad to treat people differently because of it' and it's like no there is no biological or scientific basis for race it's purely a social concept. a dark skinned black person and a very pale white person can share more dna than two black people or two white people like it's all made up you can't tell someone's genetic or biological makeup just by looking at them. it's all socially constructed and there are massive consequences for this construction but anyone who tries to say that there is any kind of scientific basis for race whether they're knowingly purposely racist or trying to be "progressive" is wrong and realizing that someone you're talking to in a completely benign situation dead seriously thinks that such a thing as a "white race" actually scientifically exists is so terrifying
