Strangerville, the newest Game Pack!

After coming out on 2/26/2019, the Strangerville game pack was really hyped up. Of course, as a Sims devotee, I downloaded the game pack and finished the whole mission in a span of 24 hours. Today, I want to share my overlook and rating towards the Game Pack and whether or not it is worth the $20.

Review: The Strangerville Game Pack was not as exciting to me as some others may say. In my opinion, I wasn’t as excited for this pack as I was for the others. Strangerville did, unlike other packs, give the player a sense of gameplay that wasn’t like the regular Sims experience. When creating a sim, there was a new aspiration in the LOCATION category for Strangerville, which focused on figuring out the Stangerville mystery. There was also a new PARANOID trait which allows your sim to become paranoid frequently and feel safer in basements. Along with some new CAS items, the Build Mode items did not spark much excitement. (but there was the addition of laptops!!!) This Game Pack also introduced the new Military Career!

Completing the mission was somewhat confusing, but exciting at the same time. As you move into Strangerville, you notice that some of the inhabitants are walking, talking, and acting in strange ways. After talking with some military personnel, you visit the Secret Lab, which seems taboo to talk about. Collecting evidence, you head back to the town to gain the rest of the data needed to create a dossier, which can be exchanged for a key card to the secret door at the Lab. Once you return to the Secret Lab and use the Key Card, you are allowed entry to the first basement floor, where you see some spore cluster plants and spore stations. Returning home after this, you are warned that the sky is changing color and tiny bright red spores float around your screen! Things get stranger and you are to purchase an incomplete hazmat suit from the secret inventory of the Curio Shop. To complete the suit you must collect enough spores from the Lab (using a spore finder collected from Military personnel) to create a spore filter through one of the Scientists you can find in the Library. After getting the spore filter and adding it to the missing parts of the hazmat suit, you can suit up and venture deeper into the lab to discover who (or what!!!) is hiding down there. 

Deep in the basements of the Secret Lab, you will find the Mother Plant, which is the Patient Zero of the whole Strangerville epidemic. You cannot defeat the Mother alone, so you must gather a team of people who you immunize with a vaccine made of 5 spores and 1 strange fruit (which can be collected from nurturing the blossoming plants around Strangerville). After finalizing the vaccine and creating your team, you will go through a “Final Boss Battle” where you and your team must defeat the Mother. Once defeating the Boss, your quest is over, and you have saved Strangerville. The game states that you can revive the Mother plant if you want to play the quest again with a different sim.

What I do not like about Strangerville is how quick the mission was over. I feel that the town of Strangerville offers nothing after the quest is over but a few houses, empty lots, and two communal lots. I would have liked it better if it was a bigger world to inhabit, but it is not. I also don’t like how the Aspiration in CAS is worthless after finishing the game. I had to change the aspiration on my Sim once she finished her mission, and I feel that it was too easy to complete. With the mission of saving Strangerville being the main premise of this Game Pack, I can understand why the creators would not make this whole pack an Expansion Pack. For $20, this pack definitely is very fun to complete, but I wish there was more to it after the mission is through. If I did want to complete the Strangerville game again with another Sim, I would have to go back and reset the Mother Plant and go through the whole process, knowing what to do and everything. As with all games, when playing them again, you do know what to do, but I feel that the Strangerville pack is different. 

In the end, this Game Pack does offer some great build mode items and CAS items. I recommend downloading the Strangerville Game Pack if you have some free time to kill and want to figure out the mystery of the quaint desert town. I also feel that EA released this Game Pack within a weeks notice of its creation, and it was just here before we knew it. Personally however, I do not feel that the Strangerville Game Pack is worth $20, so if you want to get it for cheaper, wait for a sale to happen on Origin (surprisingly, they happen pretty frequently!!)

Ok Sims, that’s how it’s gonna be

So my sims game completely reset itself, deleted all my cc, and just basically returned to its beginning state. Could anyone tell me why this may have happened? I had a lot of cc that didn’t have meshes and I play on a MacBook.
