So, I have managed to toggle the moveObjects cheat with a hotkey, again. :)

Learning how to accomplish this was quite challenging for me. I first started with the boolProp snapObjectsToGrid cheat to attach it to the Alt key as in TS3 and TS4. But it had another challenge: getting rid of the free camera movement thingy (when you hold Alt). Seriously, who is actually using that in TS2? I'm still looking to learn how to disable that stupid thing.

As for the moveObjects cheat, I have also managed to retrieve the current game state (e.g., live mode, build mode, etc.) to make this hotkey work only for the game states where you can pick and place objects.

One of the final steps is to make it work only when the game is in the foreground. Currently, it works even when the game is in the background. This is an easy step. For the other step, I will also need to make it not work when there is a dialog popup (when simulation is paused) or when the focus is on an input field (where you have to type things, like baby name, family name, etc.).

P.S. I tried LazyDuchess' hotkey mod, but there is no SimAntics or BHAV function to allow me to do this, AFAIK.

MOD UPDATE!

Saying again, my Tumblr was closed for a long time, so I couldn't post it in time.

Remember MoveObjects Cheat with Hotkey? It's now called Quick Cheats with two new features (startup cheats and cheat aliases)!

The original cheat hotkey feature is still available for the moveObjects and constrainFloorElevation cheats by default.

Cheat aliases allow you to set your own custom cheat name for an existing cheat (with or without parameters). By default, the testingCheatsEnabled cheat has the alias testingCheats, shorter and better!

Startup cheats, which is one of the useful and favorite features of TS2, are executed when the original cheat is available (i.e., in the main menu or after a world loading screen).

This mod adds a bulldozer button to the build, buy, and blueprint modes, allowing you to bulldoze lots without going to the town edit mode and evict the existing household from the lot for bulldozing.

I made my first TS2 mods! (aside from a CAS screen mod)

Cell Phones Available Always: This mod eliminates the requirement to buy a cell phone for cell phone interactions, making it always available. Download from MTS or CurseForge.

Make Bed While in Use: This mod allows Sims to make the bed while another Sim or a pet is using the other side of the bed or when a pet occupies the same side. Download from MTS or CurseForge.

I have extracted and cropped the plumbob images from the announcement video on the official The Sims page on Instagram!

You can use them as cover images for your games in your Steam library.

To set a custom cover for a game on Steam:

Locate the game in your Steam library.

Right-click on it.

Select Manage and then Set custom artwork.

I believe you can also do that for non-Steam games in your Steam library, so you may do it for Ultimate Collection or other editions.

Image quality is a bit bad not because of me. But this doesn't have a significant impact as they will appear as small when set as cover images.

This one is named Lesser Ghost Motives and is an update to two mods by KlingonDragon and SimplifiedModding on MTS. The latter can still be used if you don't have L&D EP, otherwise, it will prevent your ghost Sims from progressing in soul's journey and ghost maestry.

testing some workarounds in The Sims 3 - I managed to add a foundation to an existing house!

This method I'm testing didn't make the process smooth, I still had to rebuild some parts and re-insert some objects, but it's better than nothing, I guess? If the house has more floors, it's even worse. Haven't tried that yet, tho.

It's been loads of trial and error just to manage to have a sim receive a pranky text. :)

A new moodlet is also on its way! Is your sim a coward? Let them fall faint. Is your sim neurotic? Watch them freak out! Are they a loner? Maybe getting pranked would cheer them up a bit.

Preventing Mods Disablement After an Update

The Sims 4 has been one rapidly updated game for years. Sometimes you just start the game without ever noticing the update, until that damn popup pops up. Then, you have to re-enable your mods and restart the game. QUITE BOTHERING!

Luckily, I happened to find a very simple solution to that! All you need is your fingers!

Do the following steps:

Navigate to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4. It's basically where Mods, Tray, etc. folders are found.

Find the file named GameVersion.txt and delete it. If there is no such file, somehow, skip this step.

Create a new and empty GameVersion.txt file in the same location.

Make it read-only — right-click > Properties > Read-only > OK/Apply.

That's it. You will no longer bother re-enabling your mods, ever again! Unless Maxis does something about it...

Please note that though: Some mods are indeed likely to be broken after an update until they get updated.
