Seeds of resistance 🪐🌊
[ Reaper Ash. Hunger Games. ]
I can’t get Reaper out of my head. Out of all the characters, he truly stays with you. He was so raw and had a rage so many can relate to. One thing that truly gut punched me was the parallels to real life. The outrage from the crowd as a flag was torn down. Meanwhile not a word for the countless lifeless bodies of children. My heart hurt for Reaper, and my heart breaks for what’s happening in Palestine.

In some my older posts I’ve referred to “Lucy Gray” as just “Lucy” and like…I’m sorry??
I have gotten enough comments for it to be annoying of people being like “how you gonna read the book/analyze the text and yet still call her Lucy”.
First of all those posts are older. Second of all yall can actually calm down. While I recognize the importance of character’s names and how in this case Lucy Gray’s insistence at being referred to as Lucy Gray is central to her character…I just post analysis posts that rarely center on her.
I just don’t see what you’re trying to accomplish by belittling my silly little analysis posts by correcting a minor detail or trying to undermine the point of my analysis in said post. Make your own post on why her name is important to her and keep the attitude out of mine.

Snowjanus has burrowed a little hole in me that I can’t get rid of.
Full disclosure I did not ship them when I read the book despite Sejanus being my favorite character. They just never came off as anything more than platonic in my opinion during the times I read the book.
But the movie put them in a whole new perspective for me. Sejanus definitely wanted to kiss Coryo. I stand by this. And Coriolanus after Sejanus was *spoiler* hung??
Fucking shoot me, I love my angsty ass ships. I’m going to have to reread the book with Sejanus being in love with Coriolanus in mind and see if I pick up on it as well in the book or if it’s just Sejanus’s actor.

Every time I see that TikTok trend with “you were a wonderful experience” vs “you were … everything”, with Lucy and Coriolanus I roll my eyes so fucking hard.
The only people who get a pass for putting them to this trend are people who haven’t read the book.

How am I ever supposed to fall in love with a real man when I read about Peeta Mellark when I was twelve. Who is supposed to top him? He’s not even real.

*ahem* For the love of GOD The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is not a love story.
People who interpret it as one...why? Did we read the same story?

LOL I saw the trend on clock app with Peeta and Katniss to the lyrics; "You're in the wind, I'm in the water. Nobody's son, nobody's daughter".
Yes these lyrics relate perfectly to them but you know who else they relate too? Coriolanus and Lucy...except they ended very differently.

Josh Hutcherson absolutely embodied the casting as Peeta. The charm, the charisma, the sass in cf, and then post hijacking? Acting absolutely fucking wrecked me.
This is me saying that Josh was my favorite cast from the original trilogy and here's hoping that Tom Blyth rivals it- I need him to be a great Coriolanus Snow.

What’s up guys I woke crying over how the Capitol made Peeta’s biggest fear come true.
He became a piece in their games, specifically Snow’s games.

Potential Spoilers for the TBOSAS Movie pulled from the Book
I can not stop thinking about Sejanus barley being in the trailer we got yesterday is a purposeful misdirection from what is in my opinion the biggest heartbreak/betrayal of this story and how they're keeping it purposefully vague for anyone who hasn't read the book.
Look I know it was like barely a three minute trailer but Sejanus was only in it for that one scene making him look like a side character when in reality he is one of the main ones. We got shown more scenes of Snow and that girl who got bit by the snakes then we got of Sejanus. And the one clip we got of him? The one of him screaming at them and calling them monsters? Yeah he's going to make me cry in the theaters. The book readers know what happens with him.
We got a ton of Snow and Lucy and that was to be expected (I'm surprised we got that scene of him firing in the woods) but the cinematic gold that is Snow and Sejanus's storyline. Lucy and Snow's is fucking heartbreaking but honestly Sejanus's fucking broke me.
Lucy started to see Snow for who he was towards the end, she saw the seed of evil in him but Sejanus? He truly thought Snow was good right up into the end. Lol this movie is going to fucking kill me.
I think they're not going to give a lot away with Sejanus leading up to this movie and let that be the emotional throat punch to everyone who hasn't read the book.

Okay I've talked about Peeta and Lucy being mirrors of each other but a lot of characters have mirrors in the series. Katniss and Sejanus, Coin and Snow, Rue and Prim but the one main character I haven't been able to figure who's their mirror is Gale.
To a lesser extent we could say it's Billy Taupe? But I'm not sure.

I am forever reminded how Peeta and Lucy are mirrors of each other and in love with it.
Peeta "I just don't want them to change me in there, turn me into some kind of monster that I'm not." Mellark and Lucy Gray "There's a natural goodness built into us all. We can step across that line into evil, or not." Baird.
Both of them believe in people, in their ability to be good, to choose to be good specifically. Peeta states that he still wants to be him and the only way he'd not be good, to be a monster, is if the Capitol made him. Which they would. Lucy reinforces this sentiment by saying that it's a choice to cross that line into evil. They both ultimately believe in the power of people choosing to do the right things. They both knew how powerful that is.
Snow didn't get a chance to try to rip Lucy's goodness away from her but he did with Peeta. He saw Lucy in Peeta- I know it.
His words to Katniss "It's the things we love the most that destroy us."  mean more than just a foreshadowing of what he did to Peeta. While Lucy and Peeta believe in the goodness of people, Snow only sees how destructive they can be without order. How animal-like they are. He didn't give Lucy a chance to 'destroy him' because Snow never fully believed in the power of love and goodness. After Lucy had told him about her belief in the goodness of people, his direct response was pointing out that sometimes 'there's just tough choices.'
Anyways I could talk and dissect so much from that little section in Tbosbas and I probably will at some point. I just know though that Peeta's torture was personal for Snow in more ways than one.

I could honestly see this but also on that same note I could never see this happening.
The districts uniting- in any way- is/was the Capitol's worst fear. They would go to great lengths to present such a thing from happening. The Capitol need the kids to fight each other for survival so if this was persay starting to happen in the games- it would have to be an early one, maybe after Lucy's though- the Capitol would rectify it quickly.
One tribute would suddenly be gifted with a bunch water and the others would get weapons while they were dying of thirst...look there's a couple reasons why kids are chosen to fight in the games. If they were dying of thirst while one tribute suddenly had a plethora of water, thiere resolve of uniting will waiver. These are teenagers we're talking about, they're impulsive and will ultimately fight to live.
'Oh what if the one with all the water shares it?' - to that I say to what extent? Again teenagers. One will try to keep more for themself and a fight will break out.
But you brought up the career districts and I think the career districts kinda fell into place from their own making- Capitol encouraged it but it was ultimately the districts that lead that to happen.
I always think of D6 which is quoted as: 'Tributes from District 6 have a disadvantage as they have no experience with tools or weaponry, unlike most other districts.' Naturally tributes from districts like 6, 9, 12, ect would start to come into the games at a disadvantage because their district doesn't have an industry that while working in would prepare them for the games. Katniss even makes a note of this when talking about Johanna from D7, how the industry of lumber made her naturally good with an axe, giving her an advantage.
Then you have D4 which is fishing. This would produce naturally athletic tributes who were pretty handy. D1 produces luxury items and is the wealthiest district so it's tributes will be well fed, have time to participate in outdoor activities and then D2 is masonry and weapon manufacturing- need I say more on them.
I honestly think that the Career districts would've just come into their own primarily by themselves and the Capitol would've seen the potential in that and that when they started encouraging it. Not because some tributes tried to 'stand together' in a the games one year.
Let’s believe that once, many years ago, the Hunger Games tributes decided to not fight each other to the death in the arena. But instead to help each other survive as long as possible.
The kids wanted everyone to see who really is killing 23 of them every year.
(Remember who the real enemy is)
They fought for each other, fought everything the Gamemakers threw at them!
And after this games the Capitol decided to let 1, 2 and 4 train, to eventually become the Careers.
Thus, there will never be an alliance like that ever again, since the kids will never be equal from the very beginning of the games.
Your thoughts?
