What is the extent of keisuke’s past life’s knowledge? Like, the canonical year that she died in 2013 when the fic started? Or is the year she bit the dust not specified so she can be up to date on current events.

Basically, do the bat fam have to tell her that the queen died?

Per prior fics, Kei's last memory of IRL is 2013. That isn't changing. It's half-buried under her new lifetime, but she's got some baggage still.

But also: the history of these worlds only touches on reality where convenient for writers and artists and copyright licenses.

The 2023-ish Batfam (A Ninja's Guide to Gotham) can totally drop some cultural events on her head if they particularly wanted to. She's way out of date, but also not from their version of history (alien invasions, etc.), so she gets to be double-confused.

The 2002-ish Batfam can't, but more because their world history is so different up to this point that Kei's response to most of it would be "what." I'm not really sure what you're supposed to think when local history books feature six super-duper powered individuals dismantling the Vandal Savage-led German army in WWII.

Should probably specify that ‘Shayla’ is every unlucky schmuck involved

-Naruto: stuck in a weird world

-kakashi: can’t fucking find his rugrat

-sasuke: now a person of interest in Naruto’s disappearance

-keisuke: only person with a recognize-able chakra signature gonna raise alarm bells when he’s looking for the culprit

-Batfam: a new feral demonic shelter cat but this one doesn’t have an inside voice.

Well, based on how the search for Sasuke went in canon, it'd be unlikely that Kakashi or the rest of Konoha's forces would be able to track him down for an interrogation. Orochimaru generally has been pretty hard to locate.

But it also means that Kakashi's down to just Sakura of his three students, and she's apprenticing to Tsunade.

Who has just lost her surrogate little brother again.

And Jiraiya has lost his last (known) surviving student and his godson.

Everyone else from the Sasuke Retrieval Team lives, barely, but Naruto's just gone?? They definitely assume that Orochimaru has him now.

Or worse, of course, but there's not much worse than being captured by Orochimaru and having your entire being unraveled for SCIENCE!!

Meanwhile, Naruto is actually even farther from home than anybody thought possible, but at least he isn't in the same kind of danger they're afraid of?

Wait is it NOT canon Naruto? Or is it keisuke’s naruto a few years older. Or was I so tired when I read that chapter that it’s something else entirely and I didn’t clock it?

Kei doesn't know this yet because she has a tendency to second-guess herself, but here's the truth of it:

This is specifically canon Naruto, who won the Chunin Exams (functionally, by defeating Gaara), trained with Jiraiya, and made it to the Valley of the End fight, and then lost the fateful Sasuke match-up.

And the summoning spell grabbed him while he was lying unconscious in the rain, before Kakashi could retrieve him.

i've had yet another thought! this one regarding Kei's fuinjutsu.

it occurred to me that while the Bats have some impressive gear protecting them from Most of the threats they face, they got jack shit capable of protecting their squishy bodies from hostile bijuu chakra on the off-chance they come into physical contact with it.

i figure the Bats primary objective when facing an angry jinchuriki is something like "Let Genbu and/or a Super handle it, stay out of range, focus on civilians, etc etc", but as with any fight, shit happens, and a squishy Bat might get got.

so i'm wondering, would Kei be able to put seals on their armor to give it some chakra resistance? i don't actually remember if this is something seals can do, tbh, like using them to "enchant" armor lol, and idk if Kei would have dabbled in that area of fuinjutsu.

but now that Naruto's been yoinked into this world, Kei would figure pretty quickly that jinchuriki were being targeted, and maybe start panicking over the possibility of even more jinchuriki wreaking havoc. and bubbling the Bats every time they get too close might not be too feasible if they're all determined to pitch in.

so i can imagine her scribbling drafts of "armor enchantments" or something like that. is that something she could/would do? oooor would the inert chakra in the seals put more of a target on anyone wearing it?

(also, sorry if i keep spamming your inbox, both of your CYB/Batman crossovers are just incredible and make me wanna rotate all the details and "what ifs" in my head like a rotisserie chicken 😂)

I, ah, couldn't quite figure out how to give a response to some of this without feeling like I smacked straight into spoiler territory, so it's kinda been a few months since this was sent in thanks to the power of writer's block. Whoops.

For the most part, the Bats are entirely willing to get into scraps even with people who thoroughly outmatch them physically, because those opponents almost never have the skill or cunning to really get around the tools a whole clan of detectives prefers. They probably shouldn't, but if these people ever operated solely what was sensible, there wouldn't be a Batman at all.

That said, magical equipment would be nice. Kei hasn't yet figured out the trick to making her more complicated fuinjutsu compatible with them, though. Most of them either need asource of chakra to prime it (barriers, etc.) or an ignition source (bombs), so she's gotta do more weapons' development. She's putting it off a bit until she can work more with Isobu's coral, which can at least do one of those things.

Kei hasn't had enough time to dig through the investigation, but there is a specific suspect for the summoning situation. The Justice League has already run into evidence of the other bullshit the problematic party gets up to, but they haven't got a solid name or location yet.

For a good while, I thought it was canon Naruto that got airdropped into Gotham and I was like:

Naruto's actual level of "ability to tell if something is a problem" varies wildly. Much like most middle schoolers.

Luckily(?), Naruto is also very much not in the know about most jinchuriki drama. At the point in the manga where we are, Kishimoto had only just introduced the concept that there were nine total, and the only one Naruto's ever actually met is Gaara. Who he hasn't seen since the Chunin Exams, actually. And we all know how wild that intro was.
