Thiruvananthapuram City Police mobile app new feature iSafe for immediate police help in panic situation Thiruvananthapuram City Police mobile app has a new feature iSafe for immediate police help when you are in a panic situation. Through the app, women will be able to send instant alerts to the police control room by using the Panic Button or just by the long press of volume rocker (down) key of their mobile phones. The police control room receives the alert along with information of the location, the subscriber ID and the IMEI number of the mobile. The police then immediately dispatches help via the police CRV (Control Room Vehicle) that is nearest to the distress location. Once iSafe sends an alert to the control room, its position can be tracked until the situation is resolved. The position is visible to the police at the control room and also on tablets that the police force carries. Source

This provides a panic button which can be used when an emergency or panic situation happens. iSafe is a new feature in TCP application which help Trivandrum residents to seek emergency police help in panic situations.  With a long press (7 seconds) of the volume down key, an alert is sent to the police control room along with the location, subscriber id and IMEI number of the mobile. Disappointed Union Budget 2015 for Kerala - No AIIMS Kerala disappointed in Arun Jaitley's Union budget 2015-16 as the expected setting-up of AIIMS in the state did not mentioned in his budget. But National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) in Thiruvananthapuram would be upgraded into a University of disabilities studies and Rehabilitation. Union Budget has allocated Rs 599.08 crore for Kochi metro. കേന്ദ്ര ബജറ്റ് 2015 - കേരളത്തിന്‌ കിട്ടിയത് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ നാഷണല്‍ ഇന്‍സ്റ്റിറ്റിയൂട്ട് ഓഫ് സ്പീച്ച് ആന്റ് ഹിയറിംഗിന് സര്‍വ്വകലാശാല പദവി നല്‍കിയത് മാത്രമാണ് ബജറ്റില്‍ കേരളത്തിന് വേണ്ടിയുള്ള പുതിയ പ്രഖ്യാപനം. മറ്റ് പല സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും എയിംസ് അനുവദിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ കേരളത്തെ ഒഴിവാക്കി. കൊച്ചി മെട്രോ പദ്ധതി 599.08 കോടി രൂപയാണ് ബജറ്റില്‍ വകയിരുത്തിയിരുത്തിയത്. കൊച്ചി മെട്രോക്ക് കേന്ദ്ര വിഹിതമായി 60.64 കോടി രൂപയും, കേന്ദ്ര നിക്ഷേപമായി 273.8 കോടി രൂപയും വിദേശ വായ്പയിലൂടെ 264.64 കോടി രൂപയും വകയിരുത്തി. ഫാക്ടിന്റെ പുനരുദ്ധാരണത്തിന് 35 കോടി രൂപ മാത്രം പ്രത്യേക പാക്കേജ് ഇല്ല. കൊച്ചി സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രത്യേക സാമ്പത്തിക മേഖലക്ക് 6.38 കോടി രൂപ, കൊച്ചിന്‍ ഷിപ്പ് യാര്‍ഡിന് 40 കോടി രൂപ, കൊച്ചി പോര്‍ ട്രസ്റ്റില്‍ ലൈറ്റ് ഹൗസ് സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിന് 3 കോടി രൂപ, ഐസറിന് 396 കോടി രൂപയും ബജറ്റില്‍ വകയിരുത്തി. ഹിന്ദുസ്ഥാന്‍ ന്യൂസ് പ്രിന്റ് ലിമിറ്റഡിന് 17.10 കോടി രൂപ. വിക്രം സാരാഭായി സ്‌പേസ് സെന്ററിന് 679.60 കോടി രൂപ, ഇന്ത്യന്‍ റെയര്‍ എര്‍ത്ത് ലിമിറ്റഡിന് 65.14 കോടി രൂപയും അനുവദിച്ചു. തേയില ബോര്‍ഡിന് 116.98 കോടി രൂപ, റബര്‍ ബോര്‍ഡിന് 161.75 കോടി രൂപ, കോഫി ബോര്‍ഡിന് 136.54 കോടി രൂപ, കശുവണ്ടി വികസന കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന് 4 കോടി രൂപ, സമുദ്രോല്‍പ്പന്നങ്ങളുടെ കയറ്റുമതിക്ക് 120 കോടിരൂപ, മത്സ്യബന്ധനമേഖലക്ക് 410.69 കോടിരൂപയും നീക്കിവെച്ചു. കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ നികുതി വരുമാനത്തില്‍ നിന്ന്‍ കേരളത്തിന്റെ വിഹിതം 13,121.77 കോടി രൂപയാണ്. കഴിഞ്ഞ സാമ്പത്തിക വര്ഷത്തെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് 5195.48 കോടി രൂപയുടെ വര്‍ദ്ധനയാണ് നികുതി വിഹിതത്തില്‍ കൂടിയത്.

South Indian comedy group Enna Da Rascalas released a video song, and it pays tribute to South India. The video explains that not all South Indians are "Madrasi" but belongs to different states and neighbours to each other. “We are not a single state; we’re here to clear the slate.” This song is sung to the tune of Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’.  

"Are you a Madrasi?" is a question many a south Indian anywhere north of the Vindhyas has perhaps faced at some point in their lives. And violent protests that "No, there is no such thing as a Madrasi" and "There are four states in South India" have fallen on stubbornly ignorant and deaf ears.

'മദ്രാസി' എന്ന്. ഈ ഉത്തരേന്ത്യക്കാര്‍ക്കെന്താ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ തെക്കന്‍ മേഖലയെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ വലിയ പിടിയൊന്നുമില്ലേ. കേരളം, തമിഴ്‌നാട്, കര്‍ണാടകം, ആന്ധ്രാപ്രദേശ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ നാല് സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യയില്‍ നേരത്തെ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോഴിതാ തെലങ്കാനയും പിറവിയെടുത്തു. എന്നാല്‍ ഇതൊന്നുമില്ലാത്ത മട്ടിലാണ് വടക്കന്മാര്‍ പ്രതികരിക്കുന്നത്. മദ്രാസിയാണത്രെ മദ്രാസി. അറിയാത്ത പിള്ളമാര്‍ക്ക് തിരിച്ചറിവിനായിതാ തെക്കന്മാരുടെ ശ്രമം. നിങ്ങള്‍ മദ്രാസിയല്ലേ എന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഉത്തരേന്ത്യക്കാരോട് 'മദ്രാസി' എന്ന ഒരു വിഭാഗം ഇല്ലെന്നും ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ദക്ഷിണമേഖലയാണ് തങ്ങളെന്നും വിവരിക്കുന്ന വീഡിയോയാണ് ഇത്.  വിവിധ ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ ഭാഷകളിലാണ് ഗാനം ആലപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ‌യോഹാൻ ചാക്കോയും, രാജീവ് രാജാറാമും എഴുതിയ വരികൾ ആലപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് യോഹാൻ ചാക്കോയും അഞ്ജന രാഘവനുമാണ്. 

'സാലേ മദ്രാസി' വിളിയിൽ നിന്ന് മലയാളികൾ മാറ്റിനിർത്തപ്പെട്ടത് 'മല്ലു' തരംഗം നവമാദ്ധ്യമങ്ങളിൽ ആഞ്ഞടിച്ചതോടെയാണ്. എങ്കിലും ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യക്കാരോട് ഇപ്പോഴും അയിത്തം കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നവരാണ് ഉത്തരേന്ത്യക്കാർ എന്ന് അനുഭവസ്ഥർ പറയുന്നു. ഈയവസ്ഥയ്ക്ക് പരിഹാരം കാണാനുള്ള ഉദ്യമമാണ് 'സൗത്ത് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ'.

For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC.

Before Diwali night, people clean, renovate and decorate their homes. On Diwali night, Hindus dress up in new clothes or their best outfit, light up diyas (lamps and candles) inside and outside their home, participate in family puja typically to Lakshmi - the goddess of wealth and prosperity. After puja (prayers), fireworks follow, then a family feast including mithai (sweets), and an exchange of gifts between family members and close friends. Diwali also marks a major shopping period in nations where it is celebrated. On the same night that Hindus celebrate Diwali, Jains celebrate a festival of lights to mark the attainment of moksha by Mahavira, and Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas. Diwali is an official holiday in India,Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji.

  Diwali is also the end of the cropping season. This is the time of the year when farmers would be getting the results of their sweat and blood. The hard work they do all through the year is supposed to pay results in terms of a healthy crop. Harvesting period generally bear a lot of prosperity for agrarian society. Thus, the farmers pray to Goddess Lakshmi (the Goddess of wealth) for the best results.
