“I think we’re motivated when stuff is working well for us. When we start a new exercise routine or a new project. But over the months or over the years that motivation can wane a bit. Sometimes that can mean we need more discipline or more patience, but other times it means it’s time to try something new. See, I’m not motivated to go to a public gym. For me, that lack of motivation wasn’t a bug. It was a feature that led me to explore working out at home. So I would say use discipline to get started and get on the road, but use motivation to sometimes explore other roads, even if it’s just to rule them out.”

This past Saturday I raced a 10k. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. The week before I ran a 5k with a time of 19:47, which was a PR for me. I was really excited for that 5k and training was consistent up until that day. But I felt kinda meh about the 10k. Only ran it because my coach mentioned it should be a good, fast course.
I showed up really late and didn’t even get a chance to warm up. By the time I threw on my bib it was time to line up. Now I have a new sub 40:00 10k PR. I just remember the days when I was pushing for that sub 20 5k and then I just went sub 20 twice in one race? Pretty sure I PR’d in the 5k in this race too.
I’m definitely happy about it and I’m not complaining. But when things like this happen I can’t help but beat myself up a little bit. It feels like I was rewarded for bad behavior. But definitely makes me want to lock in on my consistency.

is this a musicblr now??? the answer is NO. i run everyday now and i kinda forgot its something i like to share details about 😅 it’s not burnout out but it’s like track workout, recovery run, medium long run, recovery run, long run, rest, repeat. with some lifting sprinkled in there. i mean i LOVE it but it’s giving second full time job 🤣 planning to post about my run tomorrow when i get that done 😅

Another open mic tomorrow! Can’t believe I’ve been doing these for almost a year and still get nervous and still dislike the sound of my voice.
The crowd is always nice of course, but I always wonder like, “hm but what do you actually think” >.> …I know I should take compliments that come my way, it’s just hard to when you don’t like how you sound.
That all being said I’m always looking forward to it :)

There was a point in time that I said I’d post music here more regularly, what happened to that?
I’ve been performing at open mics pretty regularly now. One issue I always face is looking at my fret hand when I play, which takes my focus off my voice and also points my mouth away from the mic. I took this video to try to force myself to look forward while playing.

Typing this in so much pain. Currently in one of my teammates car. She offered to drive it over, blast the heat/seat warmers and give me a place to recoup. Of course I wasn’t gonna say no.
FIRST MARATHON COMPLETED. Been looking forward to this for quite some time. The training wasn’t perfect but I felt ready. Felt confident AF through the first half. Legs definitely started screaming after that but we kept pushing. My goal was sub 3:30 so I am happy to have met that goal. I just didn’t expect for it to hurt so bad!! I remember seeing video of people post marathon trying to walk down stairs and thinking, “hm i get it, it’s far, but does it hurt THAT bad??” Yes. Yes it does.
…can’t wait to do it again someday

Hey y’all. I haven’t posted since last year (HA HA HA)
Started my year off with a race. Just a mile. I was pretty happy with the day. And this race holds a special place in my heart since it was at this race last year that I met my running coach and joined the team. Come such a long way since then and I want to go so much further.
Gifs show the Blue Jean Mile that happens after the main one. Gotta keep the tradition going. Yes it sucked. Immediately ripped them off post-race 🤣

Asking for advice!
So I have job offer on the table. They gave me the offer last Thursday and I asked for the weekend to think about it. Yesterday I asked for more time and they gave me another week. The reason I asked for more time is because I am still interviewing for this other job that I REALLY want. Today the other job called me to set up a THIRD interview with them happening next Tuesday where I’ll be observing/meeting some team members…and job offer said call them on Monday.
What would y’all do? My mom is straight up like just tell job offer yes to make sure they don’t take it from you and then tell them never mind when the other job gives an offer since it seems like they want you. Another option is to be straight up with job offer and be like, “hey, wasn’t expecting to get far with that other job, they want a third interview, they match my goals better, blah blah blah.” Although that would be the “nice thing” to do, I fear they might pull the offer after hearing that, and then worse case scenario other job tells me no after the third interview 😭
Thoughts? Although mean I’m leaning more towards mom’s thinking but it seems soooo mean!
Anyway I ran today, something my coach calls a medium long run, then took a FAT NAP that I just woke up from not too long ago. I hope all is well with everyone!

Hey y’all.
Had a long run workout today where I did 2 sets of 5 miles at marathon effort. Also drove over to the course to get a sneak peak. Workout went well. Still nervous about the race but a little excitement is creeping its way in.
Day uneventful otherwise. Hit up a place I never been to get food after, the food was alright. Had a singing lesson, went to the sauna. Eating dinner now. Meal prepped some Thai Green Curry the other day, but I’m actually eating Jamaican Curry I meal prepped before that.
Thanks for all the “welcome backs” :) Nice to see the community is alive and thriving. I hope everyone had a good day.

Hey, long time no see.
Currently in a transitional period in my life, but to be honest when am I not. Still been training, still been running, but haven’t been sharing on here. I want to change that since this community has done so much for me and it’s nice to see that everyone is still around and posting.
Feels weird just jumping back in but here we go. Currently marathon training, had a run today. Pictured is me bored at the laundry waiting for my clothes to dry, gonna hit up the sauna afterwards before going home.

Hey y’all! Long time no see. I would say it’s because I have no time because of training and grad school. But that’s no excuse 😤 I wouldn’t be where I am without this lovely community, and I should be here more to cheer y’all on just like y’all have done for me.
I had another race!! Raced a 15k and got second place in my age group! Averaged a 7:45 mile! Couldn’t have done it without my teammates pacing and encouraging me along the way.

Been a while y’all, been too long. Happy New Years to you all.
I started the year off with a race! Ran the mile. Pretty happy with my time, and ready to get faster! The gifs show my second race that day, the Blue Jean Mile 😅 Honestly wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I pretty much ran the same times for both.
