I have to apologize and say that there will be a delay with ‘The bridge’ part 3, as my brother jokingly deleted it when I went to the bathroom and left it open. I’ll try to rewrite it as fast as possible, again, sorry for the delay.

——————————
It was Chaewon's birthday, and her girlfriend, y/n, had been planning it for weeks. This was their first birthday celebration since they started dating, and y/n wanted it to be perfect. She had everything planned out, from the decorations to the gifts, and most importantly, the cake.
Y/n had always loved baking, and she wanted to make the cake herself, feeling like it made everything just a little more special. She had spent hours researching recipes and watching tutorials, trying to find the perfect one. She finally settled on a delicious chocolate cake with layers of buttercream frosting.
Y/n woke up early that morning to start baking. Usually, she hated that Chaewon had to get up at crazy times in the morning to get to her schedule as an idol, but now it worked in her favor as she could focus on the cake without trying to hide it.
She worked tirelessly in the kitchen, mixing ingredients and measuring out the perfect portions. As the cake baked in the oven, she prepared the frosting, carefully spreading it over each layer.
Hours passed, and the cake was finally finished. Y/n stepped back to admire her work, feeling proud of the beautiful creation she made. She placed it carefully on the kitchen counter, waiting for Chaewon to come home.
As the hours ticked by, y/n began to get nervous. What if Chaewon didn't like the cake? What if it didn't taste good? She tried to shake off her worries, reminding herself that she had put in so much effort to make it perfect.
Finally, Chaewon arrived home from work, a tired look on her face, y/n greeted her with a smile. "Happy birthday, love!" she said, pulling Chaewon into a tight embrace.
Chaewon looked around the apartment, noticing the decorations and the wrapped presents. "Wow, y/n, you really went all out," she said, smiling at her girlfriend, noticing a small amount of flour on her nose.
Y/n felt her heart swell with pride, knowing that she had planned the perfect celebration for Chaewon. She led her over to the kitchen counter, where the cake sat waiting. "And I made you a cake too!" she said, beaming with excitement, picking it up so Chaewon could get a better look.
Chaewon's eyes widened as she looked at the cake. It was beautiful, with layers of frosting and a sparkly "Happy Birthday" topper. "Y/n, this is amazing! You made this yourself?" she asked, looking impressed.
Y/n blushed, feeling a sense of pride at Chaewon's reaction. "I did! I wanted to make it special for you," she said, smiling warmly.
Chaewon leaned in to take a closer look at the cake, admiring the intricate details. Suddenly, there was a loud crash as the cake slipped from y/n's hands and crashed onto the floor.
Y/n's heart sank as she looked at the ruined cake, feeling a sense of defeat washing over her. She had put so much effort into making it perfect, and now it was ruined. "I'm so sorry, Chaewon. I didn't think it would be so heavy," she said, her voice choked with emotion.
Chaewon rushed over to her girlfriend, carefully avoiding the splattered cake on the floor, putting her arms around her in a tight embrace. "It's okay, y/n. It's the thought that counts," she said, trying to reassure her.
Y/n felt tears welling up in her eyes, feeling like she had ruined Chaewon's special day. "But I wanted it to be perfect. I wanted everything to be perfect for you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Chaewon pulled away from the embrace, looking into y/n's eyes. "Everything is perfect, y/n. You're here with me, and that's all that matters," she said, smiling warmly.
Y/n felt a sense of relief wash over her, realizing that Chaewon was right. It wasn't about the cake or the decorations, it was about celebrating their love.
Seeing that y/n had calmed down, Chaewon led her to the couch and sat her down, taking her hand in hers. "I know how much effort you put into that cake, and I appreciate it so much. But accidents happen, and it's okay," she said, rubbing circles on the back of y/n's hand with her thumb.
Y/n felt a warmth spread through her chest as she looked at Chaewon, feeling grateful for her understanding and compassion. "Thank you, Chaewon. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me," she said, leaning in to give her a gentle kiss on the lips.
Chaewon smiled against y/n's lips, feeling her heart swell with love. She pulled away, looking into her girlfriend's eyes. "I have an idea," she said, a mischievous glint in her eye.
Y/n looked at her curiously, wondering what she had in mind. "What is it?" she asked, feeling a sense of excitement building in her chest.
Chaewon stood up, taking y/n's hand and leading her to the computer. "We're going to order a cake online," she said, grinning from ear to ear.
Y/n looked at her in disbelief. "Really? Are you sure?" she asked, feeling a sense of guilt. Chaewon shouldn't be ordering her own cake.
Chaewon nodded, scrolling through the options on the website. "Absolutely. We'll find the perfect cake together," she said, eyes scanning through the different flavors and designs.
Y/n felt a sense of relief wash over her, feeling grateful for Chaewon's understanding and flexibility. They spent the next half hour scrolling through different cakes, debating between chocolate and vanilla, buttercream and fondant, and finally settled on a beautiful raspberry and lemon cake with delicate white frosting.
As they waited for the cake to arrive, they cuddled on the couch, watching their favorite movie and laughing about the mishap with the first cake.
Finally, there was a knock at the door, and Chaewon jumped up to answer it, cutely hopping towards the door like a bunny. She returned with a beautiful cake box, setting it down on the kitchen counter. "It's here!" she said, her eyes sparkling in excitement.
Y/n looked at the box, feeling a sense of anticipation building in her chest. She opened the lid, revealing the most beautiful cake she had ever seen. It was a delicate shade of white, with layers of fluffy sponge cake and tangy raspberry and lemon filling.
Chaewon leaned in to give y/n a gentle kiss on the cheek. "This is the best birthday I could ever wish for," she said, her voice filled with affection.
Y/n couldn't help but blush, feeling lucky to have someone as thoughtful and caring as Chaewon in her life. They spent the rest of the night eating cake until their stomachs hurt and snuggling on the couch, feeling content and happy in each other's company.
As y/n lay in bed that night, limbs tangled with Chaewons, she felt a sense of contentment wash over her. She had wanted everything to be perfect for Chaewon's birthday, and although the first cake had been ruined, the night had turned out perfectly. She stared at the smaller girl who snored softly, her head buried in her shoulder, and knew that this was just the beginning of a lifetime of birthday celebrations together.

The steady beeping of a machine was the first thing y/n heard when she woke up, followed by a quiet voice mumbling along with the lyrics of some generic pop song she remembered hearing on the radio a few days ago. The ceiling was hurting her eyes, colored with an uncomfortably bright white, just like everything else in the room. The only significant pop of color was the young girl sitting across from her.
Yunjin still had her school uniform on just like she did, but instead of the white undershirt that everyone was required to have, Yunjin sported a Louis Vuitton shirt. It was her signature look, as she was known to wear expensive brands anytime she could. Y/n remembers seeing her get sent to the principal's office for breaching the uniform dress code almost every day, but nothing ever came of it.
It was strange, seeing the other girl outside of school, that is. She looked different. Y/n didn't know what it was, but something about Yunjin seemed off. She had the same clothes on. The same make-up. The same headphones that their teachers would constantly confiscate from her. Only for her to steal them right back when they weren't paying attention.
Y/n decided that it was her demeanor that was so different. She seemed small, curled up in the uncomfortable hospital chair as if y/n could tower over her, despite being several centimeters shorter. Her legs pressed against her body, knees up towards the chin, head resting on them and occasionally bopping to what y/n presumed was the beat of some song she was listening to.
When Yunjin finally noticed y/n staring at her, their eyes connected, and for a split second, y/n could see something other than the usual arrogant smirk that seemed to be permanently stuck on the older girl's face.
“Oh! You're awake…”
Yunjin's words trailed off, both girls unsure what to do, sitting silently for a few very long moments. The tension in the room was so thick it could be cut with a butter knife.
“Yeah, I just woke up.”
Y/n answered as if it wasn't obvious, mentally berating herself for being so goddamn awkward. Yunjin just nodded, staring out of the window. It stayed this way for some time before Yunjin seemed to remember something as she snapped her head back to y/n.
“Oh, right! You were asleep for only around 30 minutes, so you should be fine. The nurse told me to give them a buzz once you woke up. Something about checking that you don't have a concussion so that you can go home safely. From what she said, it shouldn't take too long, plus they already called your dad, so you don't have to worry about spending the night here.”
Yunjin smiled at her, placing her headphones into her bag and standing up to alert the nurses about y/n waking up. Before she could even take one step, though…
“No!”
Y/n yelled at her, almost jumping off the bed. Her heart was racing so fast she thought she was having a stroke. As soon as Yunjin let the last sentence out of her mouth, y/n felt her breath stop.
They called her father, oh god, they called her father. Her vision was beginning to blur. What the fuck was she going to do? Once her father shows up, it's game over for her. They will see what she did to him, and she will be sent straight to jail. No. Knowing that bastard, he would make up some excuse or just hide it so he could take her home, and.…she didn't want to even think about it. Her chest felt like it was being constricted with a corset, tightening every second she thought about him.
“Hey…hey, y/n, what's going on? You good?”
She could hear Yunjin asking her concern on her face. It was as if she was underwater, her voice muffled and quiet, not reaching her ears properly.
“No, not dad…he- he will-”
Y/n managed to squeeze out, hyperventilating so quickly that she felt like she was about to pass out. Her father was about to be here at any moment, and she was having a fucking panic attack…great.
She could feel Yunjin rubbing her back, trying to calm her down, which surprisingly worked as she felt the world get clearer. The girl's warm hands let go of her. Usually, y/n would be glad as she hated physical contact, but for some odd reason, she missed the feeling.
“Y/n, I need you to be honest with me, okay? Does your dad…hurt you? Is he the reason why you ended up like- like this?”
Yunjin's voice quivered at the end, looking at the other girl softly. It felt strange, having someone look at her that way. Her whole life, y/n had tried to be as invisible as she could, not liking the feeling of someone staring at her. Maybe it was because of him. He always looked at her after he finished, admiring the damage he had done, just standing in front of her bed, watching.
Not finding the strength to speak, y/n just nodded, wiping the tears from her eyes with a sleeve of her school uniform. She could hear Yunjin curse under her breath. It was in English, a testament to her parent's job and overall status.
Y/n remembered hearing the word on some rap song one of her classmates was obsessed with, playing it over and over during breaks. He always tried to sing along, but his pronunciation sucked, making y/n cringe every time. She wondered what Yujin would sound like. Her limited English skills told her that Yujin seemed quite good, if not fluent. It would definitely be better than Hyunsik, which she knew for sure.
“Okay, I don't really know what I should do in this situation, but I won't let him hurt you again. I have never done something like this. I think we just have to run away before he comes. Do you have any friends or close relatives that could take care of you?”
Yunjin asked her, pacing around the small hospital room, one hand buried in her hair. Y/n was silent. To the older girl's credit, she could understand what that silence meant, trying to change the topic.
“I guess you can stay with me. Is there anything that you want to take with you?”
Y/n suddenly remembered about her bag. It was probably still next to the door, knowing her father's aversion to cleaning anything.
“Yeah, I have a bag with some clothes and money. It's still at my house. I was supposed to run away to Busan today, with it being my 18th birthday and all, so I had everything prepared already. You can see it didn't really work out…”
Y/n tried to joke, forcing a small smile on her face. It was a pathetic attempt at humor, but she felt the situation needed a little light, uncomfortable with the tense atmosphere.
“Okay…We could sneak out to the parking lot, hide and wait until your dad shows up, and then make a break to your home. We can quickly take everything you need and book it to mine!”
Yunjin smiled at y/n, who could only nod as she grabbed her right hand and walked out of the cramped room.
The girls tried to walk as fast as possible without looking suspicious to the staff roaming the hallways. It was exciting. It felt like they were spies on a secret mission in an American movie about saving the capital or something.
Just as they made it to the parking lot, y/n recognized a white sedan pulling up. She quickly tugged Yunjin towards a blue van and signaled for her to be quiet, carefully peeking out from behind it.
She could see her father struggling to get out of his car, a dark blue sweatshirt on. She had been right. He wanted to act as if nothing had happened so he could take her home and deal with her in his own way. For a moment, y/n wished she had killed him in that kitchen, but she quickly snapped out of it.
“Why is he walking so weird?”
Yunjin asked from beside her. Y/n almost got a heart attack, forgetting that the other girl was with her. She squatted next to her, squinting at the awkwardly hunched-over man shuffling toward the revolving doors.
“I…I kind of…stabbed him.”
“What?!”
Yunjin yelled out, making y/n slap her hand on her mouth, pulling her back behind the van with panicked eyes.
“Shhhhh!”
The younger whisper yelled, making Yunjin realize just how loud she was. Both of them stayed crouched there for a few moments, afraid to look from behind it in case her father could see them.
After a minute or two, they decided it was safe again and peeked out. To the girl's relief, y/n's father had already gone inside as they couldn't see him anywhere.
“The coast is clear! Follow me, okay?”
The younger girl said and quickly ran towards the gate of the hospital. Luckily for them, y/n had been to the hospital before, when one of her dad's outbursts got a bit out of hand, and he broke her arm. She had to go to the hospital alone since he refused to drive her. At that time, it was hell, as it coincidentally started raining just as she got out of the door, but now it helped them, as she could remember the way home.
Y/n kept looking back at Yunjin, who was a few meters behind her, with a pained expression. She could hear her panting from the front, loudly cursing at herself and everything else. Y/n remembered how she used to skip gym class, yelling at their teacher, declaring it 'bullshit that wasn't useful for anyone'. Well, Yunjin skips pretty much every class unless the threat of immediate expulsion isn't hanging over her head, so it wasn't all that unusual. The shared gym class was the only place y/n could see her up close, as they were in different grades.
It seemed that Yunjin's skipping had finally caught up to her, though, and y/n couldn't help but laugh as she heard her complaining, begging her to slow down a bit. Both of them knew that they couldn't. It was only a matter of time before the nurses realized she was gone. Y/n counted on her father's selfishness, hoping that he wouldn't call the police on them out of fear that they would take her away from him.
“How long until we get to your house? I feel like I'm going to die, y/n!”
Yunjin yelled from behind just as they made it onto her street. It was tiny, so they had to slow down, dodging the trashcans and an occasional bike. Y/n lived right on the edge of the street in a corner building that didn't get all that much sunlight, even when it was noon, so unlocking the door was a lot harder, especially since the lamp in front of the building broke two weeks ago and nobody had bothered to fix it.
“Come on, come on.”
Y/n mumbled to herself as she finally managed to open the heavy door, sprinting up the flight of stairs to get to her apartment.
Just as she predicted, her bag was still at the entrance, some loose money laying around it. She quickly tried to shove everything back inside, zipping it up.
Since she was already home, y/n decided to grab some other stuff she didn't have the chance before as it would be too noticeable and could get her father to suspect her. Well, he wasn't here now, and hopefully won't see her ever again.
Taking her jacket from the hook next to the door, she ran to her room, grabbing her only stuffed toy, a small teddy bear she nicknamed Pup. It was the only thing left of her mom, as her father had thrown everything reminding him of her out a long time ago.
Y/n turned around, facing Yunjin, still standing in the doorway, trying to catch her breath.
“Let's take my bike. That way, we'll be a lot faster. I have it locked to a post outside.”
Yunjin nodded, and both ran back downstairs, skipping the last few steps and choosing to jump instead. Y/n almost fell on her face but quickly regained balance. She yelled the password to the bike chain to Yunjin, who was ahead of her.
Just as Yunjin got the bike, the shine of headlights entered their vision. Y/n could recognize that car anywhere. Her father was back home.
“Fuck! Yunjin, hurry!”
She yelled out desperately, still running toward the other girl, whose hands she could see trembling, fumbling around with the lock. It was a miracle she managed to get it open just as y/n stood next to her.
Y/n ushered Yunjin to sit on it as she hopped onto the back, making a seat out of the flimsy bag holder. Her hands clamped around the older girl's waist.
As they rode away, y/n turned around to see her father getting out of his car, yelling something before Yunjin turned a corner, making him disappear out of her field of vision. She couldn't help but laugh at the situation. Curled up on a bag holder, desperately holding on to Yunjin as she frantically paddled away.
Y/n let out a breath, letting her head fall onto Yunjin's back, and watched as the world passed by.
The sun had set, the only source of light being the harsh lamps along the road, making her squint her eyes.
Contrary to everything that has happened today, it was a beautiful day, well, night, the kind you see in dramas and films. The ones that talk about the meaning of life and make everyone feel a bit strange after watching them.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Yunjin announcing that they were almost there, tapping the clasped hands on her stomach and pointing across the river.
Y/n felt strange. It was as if they'd known each other their whole lives, even though they had only interacted a few times before today.
“Well, this is it.”
The bike stopped, making her let go of Yunjin.
She missed the subtle warmth under her fingertips and almost reached to touch her again, stopping herself before she could. Instead, she follows Yunjin inside.

jiwon groaned into her hands as the lunch room became louder, more students coming into it. wonyoung patted her back sympathetically.
“i’m gonna jump off a cliff,” she complained, muffled.
hyunseo looked at the older girl, silently meeting eyes with yujin and gaeul in worry. she frowned as she ate a spoonful of pudding.
rei looked over as she stole a fry from the girl’s lunch tray. “what happened?”
jiwon groaned once more with an incoherent jumble of words that could only be heard by yujin and wonyoung sitting beside her.
yujin shook her head, trying to repress a laugh.
wonyoung glared at yujin and turned to rei with a grimace. “jiwon got paired with y/n for science.”
rei nodded, watching as the blonde girl continued to grumble into her arms. they all knew how hopeless jiwon was when it came to you. all jiwon could do was stare at you from a distance.
“isn’t that a good thing?” hyunseo asked, watching you talk to your friend, hikaru from across the lunch room. “now you can stop staring at her from across the lunch room.”
jiwon raised her head, sending hyunseo a look of disbelief.
wonyoung shrugged as she grabbed the burger off her tray. “that’s what i said, but jiwon said that-”
“how is it a good thing if i can’t even talk to her?” jiwon reasoned, cutting off wonyoung.
“you can though.” gaeul said. “it’s called using your mouth.”
“i’ve tried that,” jiwon grabbed a fry, eating it bitterly. “i just end up staring at her with my mouth open.”
hyunseo hummed, almost like she was thinking to herself. “you could always think about what to say before you meet her.”
“like a script?”
“kind of.” the youngest shrugged, genuinely not knowing what she meant by that.
beside jiwon, wonyoung agreed enthusiastically.
“you could practice introducing yourself and take it from there.” rei smiled, trying to help her blonde friend.
jiwon nodded, thinking of a way to introduce herself to you (in which all scenarios she cringed at).
“or you can use pick up lines.” yujin said. everyone’s eyes moved to an annoyed wonyoung. “it always works with wonyoung.”
“that worked one time.” wonyoung rolled her eyes, ignoring the smug grin from her girlfriend. “and it only worked because it was so stupid that i ended up laughing at you.”
“it still worked.” yujin shrugged.
wonyoung glared at her. “don’t listen to yujin.”
“no, she’s right.” gaeul grinned mischievously. “maybe using pick-up lines would work.”
“i don’t think that’s a good idea.” hyunseo muttered. she cringed at the thought of jiwon somehow mustering up the courage to do so.
“how would you know?” yujin probed. wonyoung eyed hyunseo suspiciously. “you’re still a baby.”
“i wouldn’t want someone to use pick up lines on me.” the freshman reasoned out, her eyes wide with confusion. “i’d just want them to be straight up with me.”
wonyoung frowned. “don’t tell me you’re getting hit on.”
“yeah, me and gaeul-unnie’ll scare them off.” yujin stated as gaeul nodded.
“i’m not.” hyunseo looked around, trying to find someone to defend her. she turned her head to meet rei’s only to find the japanese girl looking at her with disbelief. “i’m not!”
hyunseo groaned. “just don’t listen to them, unnie.”
“we’ll talk about this later, lee hyunseo.” wonyoung raised her eyebrow.
“okay…”
“you don’t have to do it if you’re uncomfortable.” rei consoled jiwon as the others continued to pester hyunseo. “just being yourself is enough.”
“okay…” jiwon whispered. she thought for a moment, playing with her fingers. “but do you think it would really work?”
wonyoung sat up in disbelief. “n–”
“of course.” yujin cut her off. “it worked for me–”
“no, it didn’t.”
“–and you know how gaeul-unnie is with girls.” yujin said, earning a wink from gaeul.
“yeah, just go over there and say something like…” gaeul thought for a moment. “i don’t know, ‘have we met before? because you look like my next girlfriend.’”
rei shook her head. “oh god.”
yujin nodded, following the older girl. “or 'is it okay if i follow you? my parents always said to follow my dreams’. that one’s good.”
“don’t listen to them.” wonyoung told jiwon, who was listening to them quietly. “seriously.”
hyunseo looked at yujin. “which one worked on wonyoung-unnie?”
wonyoung groaned. “don’t encourage her.”
“oh it was, ’want a cookie? no. well, you want to go on a date?’” yujin smiled, remembering it vividly in her head.
hyunseo sent a look towards rei, both shocked that something liked that worked on wonyoung.
“i laughed at you and told you to try again next time.” wonyoung tried to explain.
“it still got you to laugh.” yujin pointed at her, making wonyoung roll her eyes again.
jiwon stayed silent, absorbing the information that she had just acquired. was she going to use them? probably not, but she was still gonna keep it in the back of her mind.
rei noticed how quiet the blonde girl had gotten. “jiwon, please tell me you aren’t actually considering this.”
“i’m not!”
“good.” wonyoung nodded. “don’t listen to them. just try your best at being you. i’m sure she’ll love it.”
“wonyoung is right. and if she doesn’t then it’s her loss.” rei sent a smile of encouragement to jiwon.
“or you can just do what we do.” yujin shrugged, earning a high-five from gaeul.
wonyoung glared at her girlfriend once more. “stop it.”
Tumblr media
jiwon wiped her hands on her skirt as you sat down beside her. it was the next day, and science happened to be the last period before lunch.
“hey, jiwon!” you greeted her enthusiastically. “you ready for the lab later.”
jiwon mustered a smile.
you frowned briefly before hikaru walked up to your desk.
“hey, y/n!” hikaru sent a smile towards jiwon, giving you a look the jiwon couldn’t decipher afterward (she had missed the glare that you sent towards hikaru). “i heard from the earlier class that we were going to dissect a frog today.”
you tilted your head. “no shit?”
jiwon frowned.
“that’s what they said. i don’t know if it’s true though.” hikaru continued, looking between you and your seatmate. she smirked. “i gotta go. i need to grab the notes from wonyoung.”
“you can just have mi–” you started. she left to sit with her seatmate, wonyoung, who was diagonal from you. hikaru sent you a thumbs up. “i’m gonna kill her later.”
jiwon picked at the skin of her thumb. she was already nervous as it is with you. dissecting a frog, especially when she was squeamish with gore, wasn’t gonna help in any way.
you looked over to her, noticing her frantic energy. “you okay?”
jiwon nodded.
“i’m not really good at the writing part.” you said softly, watching her calm down. you sighed thankfully in your head. “is it cool if i do all the dissecting?”
jiwon looked over to wonyoung, who gave her a nod of encouragement. the blonde girl opened her mouth, but ended up nodding instead.
you grimaced, trying to hide your disappointment (and ended up missing hers).
ms. kim entered the room, a cart full of surgical boxes that most likely had frogs in them. she started the class as usual, putting up instructions on the board and proceeded to hand out the necessary equipment.
the class soon got started with dissecting, the room bustling with excitement. jiwon stared at you as you tried not to get distracted while ripping the frog apart.
jiwon could feel herself already blushing. she took a deep breath, trying to remember what she practiced in the mirror. “hey, y/n.”
“jiwon.” you smiled as you focused on the frog.
upon hearing her name, jiwon short-circuited. she gave a look to wonyoung who had been listening in.
you looked up at her curiously.
“uh,” she wracked her mind for something to say. “have we, have we met before?”
wonyoung facepalmed, startling hikaru beside her. “oh my god, jiwon stop.”
you looked at the blonde slightly frightened as if she knew something that she shouldn’t have. you looked back at hikaru who gave you another thumbs up.
“i’m gonna kill yujin later.” wonyoung muttered, turning back to her work as she continued to listen.
“uh, yeah.” you said, trying to keep your composure. “i was in your class two years ago. physics with ms. choi.”
jiwon’s eyes widened. “you were?”
“you were at the front with rei and wonyoung i think. yujin would stop by sometimes and bug you guys.” you chuckled as you took out the frogs intestines. “i was really quiet back then, so…”
“oh.” jiwon frowned. it had only been a couple months since she started liking you, but it still made her upset that she didn’t know you sooner.
“why do you ask?”
jiwon suddenly found her paper interesting. “no reason.”
“oh.” you sighed in relief.
another silence followed, only filled up with the occasional assignment talk.
“um,” jiwon started once more. “is it okay if i follow you?”
“you… want to dissect the frog?” you looked at her, not entirely sure what she meant by that. “are you sure? you don’t have to follow how i do it if you don’t want to.”
jiwon opened her mouth, looking down at the frog. “i can.”
“okay…” you slid her the animal, carefully giving her the scalpel. “if you say so.”
you watched as she struggled not to cry, shakily grabbing the frog’s head and preparing to slice it open.
“hey, jiwon.” you muttered, your heart pounding in your chest. “i’ve been meaning to ask–”
“would you like a cookie?” jiwon asked, dazed from the idea of cutting a dead animal’s head open.
“what?” confusion pooled in your eyes. “like for lunch?”
“is that a no because–”
“actually, jiwon was wondering if you wanted to sit with us for lunch.” wonyoung said from behind you, sending a smile to jiwon.
she was definitely gonna kill yujin later.
you looked at jiwon wide-eyed. “me?”
“she will.” hikaru rushed. you turned to give her a death glare. “right, y/n?”
you smiled tightly. “uh huh, right.”
Tumblr media
you found yourself sitting between yujin, the school’s resident jock and wonyoung’s long-time girlfriend, and gaeul, the senior your younger sister had been obsessed with for the past month, for lunch. you stared at your food, feeling too awkward to move.
“y/n.” gaeul looked at you curiously. “i don’t want to be rude but why are you sitting here with us?”
you cleared your throat, sitting up straight. “jiwon invited me.”
gaeul’s eyes tore away from you to jiwon. the blonde smiled sheepishly, her entire face turning red.
“she did?” gaeul looked impressed. “no way.”
“did you actually use the pi–” yujin smirked, only to be kicked by wonyoung under the table. “ow, what?”
wonyoung glared at her, refusing to speak to her.
“that’s good.” rei hummed, trying to ease the tension (and by tension, she meant jiwon) “jiwon had mentioned that you guys were lab partners.”
jiwon looked over to rei with wide eyes.
“jiwon mentioned me?” you blushed, clearing your throat. hyunseo giggled. “i mean, yeah, we are. lab partners, i mean.”
gaeul sent a look to yujin, both knowing that each other had the same idea.
“what do you think about her? jiwon, i mean.” yujin leaned in. wonyoung rolled her eyes. “what? it’s a normal question.”
gaeul bit back a laugh as you answered, your entire face turned red. “jiwon’s nice.”
“do you think she’s pretty?” gaeul asked.
with a small smile, hyunseo rubbed jiwon’s back lightly. she could feel the heat coming off the girl’s sweater.
“yes?” you looked over to jiwon, who also seemed red.
“y/n, just ignore them.” rei grabbed your attention. she smiled sympathetically. “they get like this when they meet a new person.”
you nodded, still not feeling at peace between the two girls who were interrogating you. “okay.”
you sent a smile toward jiwon, hoping that you didn’t seem too awkward. she could only manage to grimace.
“are you single?” gaeul asked once more, catching you off guard.
you stiffened, tearing your eyes away from jiwon. “yes? i am.”
“that’s good.” gaeul grabbed a spoonful of corn as she smirked. “jiwon’s single too.”
jiwon looked over to rei, her eyes wide with a cry for help. rei nodded, trying her best to calm the girl down before her head burst from embarrassment.
“o-oh.” you avoided gaeul’s knowing eyes. “that’s good, i guess.”
yujin hummed, chuckling quietly beside you as hyunseo continued to watch after jiwon.
“if you could date anyone in this table, who would it–” yujin felt a harder kick this time. she was sure it would bruise. “ow! what?”
“if you speak again, i’m breaking up with you.” wonyoung said with a smile.
yujin nodded, looking away from the taller girl and suddenly becoming interested in her food. gaeul shook her head and looked at jiwon, who seemed like she was about to cry anytime soon. she winced, part of her realizing she might have taken it too far.
the rest of the lunch period was filled with rei and hyunseo asking you questions (none of which involved your love life), with the occasional banter between yujin and gaeul.
you watched as jiwon stayed silent, your confidence dropping as you heard the bell ring.
Tumblr media
jiwon walked beside you as you made your way to your classes. the others decided to go to their classes early for whatever reason.
“sorry about my friends.” jiwon broke the silence. “they can get–”
“no no, it’s okay!” you shook your head.
the both of you continued to walk, waiting for the other to speak. eventually, you ended up in front of her classroom, one she happened to have with wonyoung.
she cleared her throat. “i’ll see you in two days. for science, i mean.”
you nodded, watching her turn to open the door. you bit your tongue before shaking your head.
you were gonna do it.
“wait.” you called out before she could open it. you could feel the palms of your hands start to tingle. “i was actually meaning to ask you this earlier but i backed out.”
jiwon nodded, looking away from you.
“i was wondering, uh…” you took a deep breath and kept your head down. “do you want to hang out sometime? like outside the school, just the two of us, alone.”
jiwon looked at you, her mouth hanging open. “…like a date?”
“hopefully?” you answered.
“why?” she looked confused, not sure if she was suddenly living in a dream.
you could feel your face turn red as you explained. “i’ve liked you for a long time, so i’m asking you on a date?”
“oh.” jiwon nodded slowly, still trying to process what was happening. she couldn’t believe this was real.
you stared at her silently, waiting for an answer before assuming the answer was a hard 'no’.
“it’s okay if you don’t want to!” you exclaimed, slightly startling her. “we can just forget about this and–”
“i want to!” she interrupted. realizing how it must’ve sounded, she cleared her throat. “i mean, yeah, sure. a date. we can go on a date.”
the both of you stared at each other, both trying your best to bite back your smile.
“cool. that’s good.” you tried not to freak out. as you opened your mouth, the warning bell rang, startling both you and jiwon in the process. you sent her a smile. “i’ll talk to you later. i’m gonna be late to class. i’ll just get your number from rei.”
“okay!” jiwon laughed nervously, watching you as you started to hurry down the hallway.
“okay!” you waved back, accidently bumping into a teacher (who you profusely apologized to).
jiwon entered to room, holding back a squeal as she sat down next to wonyoung. the tall girl sent her a confused look, which jiwon was too giddy to reciprocate.
she buried her face in her hands as she giggled to herself quietly.

The bridge — Yunjin x reader (Part 1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: Y/n hasn't lived a happy life, but maybe, an encounter at a bridge might change that
pairings: Huh Yunjin x fem!reader
tags: angst, it gets worse before it gets better, non!idol au
word count: 2,8k
warnings: su!cide, sexual abuse (implied/talked about but never described), abuse in general, violence, part 1 is just suffering (I'm sorry)
——————————
When y/n was young, her mother used to say that the strongest people hide their scars the best. Her mom often talked about suffering, pain, scars, and the inability to heal if you didn't try.
Y/n thought it had to do with the fact that her mother was deeply religious, to the point that she pushed her fate onto everyone near her, mainly y/n. When she thought about it now, she realized how obvious it was that all of that talk stemmed from a much different place but cut her some slack. She was just a child.
Y/n realized her misconception about her mother a few days after her eleventh birthday when she found her in the living room after she returned from school. It was Mother's Day, and she drew a picture of the two of them together at a playground just a few meters away from the apartment block they lived in and used to visit frequently. She wanted to ask her mother if she wanted to go there together and maybe get some ice cream after. Instead, she found her hanging body, face purple and puffed up like an overripe grape. She still can't eat them to this day, reminding her of that awful day.
Y/n found it funny now, the age-old saying that the daughter takes after the mother. Her father used to say it every time he got mad. That she looked like her, that she was just as useless as her, just as pathetic…he knew it cut deep. That y/n despised her mother the most out of every living being on the planet.
She knew it was wrong to hold such a grudge against a person that was long gone, but she couldn't help but feel that what her mother did was selfish.
Y/n knew that she was a bad person. Everyone said so when she confessed to what she felt about her mother, but she didn't care. That woman left her alone with her father, and that was enough.
That sick fuck, oh god, how she hated him. Every night she dreamed of the day she could finally escape from this hell hole, running out and never looking back.
She had a plan written out in her notebook from when she was thirteen. It had been altered and modified to be as effective as possible, but the main goal remained. Get enough money and leave forever.
Over the years, y/n had learned how to trick her father so that he would remain clueless about her plan. She knew that if he ever found out about what she'd been planning, it would be her end.
She had convinced him that she was taking extra classes after school to get better grades but, in reality, she started working at a cafe far away from their home. It took her around 30 minutes just to get there, but it was better than having her father find out.
The pay was abysmal, but after working there for almost four years and not spending a single won, she managed to save up to around 75,000,000₩.
The money is safely stored in an old backpack she used to wear in middle school. The good thing about her father not doing any cleaning or cooking is that he will never find where she hid it.
It's not as much as y/n would want, but because her father doesn't allow her to leave the apartment on weekends, she can't pick up the long shifts that would make it easier to gain more money.
“Y/n! Where's the dinner? It's almost eight!”
Speaking of the devil. The apartment door slammed shut with a loud bang. Y/n could hear his feet dragging on the floor, and combined with the slightly slurred speech, she could tell he was drunk again.
“It's on the stove. I wanted it to still be warm for you. I will plate it soon.”
Y/n responded to him, standing up from the small bed she was resting on. Since her mother died, they have never upgraded the furniture, well, her furniture.
She still had to sleep on the tiny bed with pink butterflies she got for her tenth birthday. She had to deal with her feet dangling over the edge while her father bought a new stone bed for himself every year, insisting that he needed it because of his back problems.
“I don't want it soon, y/n. I want it now. Now get your ass here so I don't have to do something I will regret.”
The girl clenched her fists before entering the kitchen, trying to calm down. It was wide and spacious, littered with the newest equipment, a complete 180° from her room that looked stuck in the past.
Her father was sitting on a chair in the center of the table. His hands gripping both edges, legs spread out as far as humanly possible. His chin was pointed upwards, eyes forming small slits from where his gaze followed y/n as she moved around. It was as if he was trying to show her who was the boss, who ran this household in any way possible.
“What's this?”
He asked as she started placing the food in front of him. Meat in the middle on the biggest plate, and rice in a bowl on the right. Side dishes belonged on the left and were organized by how much he liked them, kimchi always first, followed by the rest. A glass of chilled beer belonged next to the meat, closest to his hand.
“Bulgogi marinated in a sweet soy, sesame, and garlic sauce with-”
Her father cut her off mid-sentence, an irritated look on his face.
“I know what it is, y/n. I'm not dumb. I'm asking because I had the same meal yesterday. Are you getting lazy? No one will want to marry you if you can't switch it up sometimes.”
He scoffed at her, taking a long swing from his beer and placing it back on the table with unnecessary force.
“No…I just bought a bit more and didn't want to waste it. I can make something else if you want to…”
Y/n answered through gritted teeth, trying not to sound too annoyed as she knew what that would cost her. Her father just waved her off, mumbling under his breath how incompetent she was.
God, how much she just wanted to pick up the empty bottle of beer from the counter and smash it on his head, but that would get her nowhere. She just had to remind herself that this would soon be over.
Her birthday was tomorrow. In just a few hours, she will be eighteen. And then she will finally get out of here, the one-way ticket to Busan already in her bag.
As she got ready for bed that night, slipping on the worn-out pajamas that were too short on her, she checked on the hidden bag one last time, making sure that everything was in its place so that there was no way that anything would go wrong.
As she slid under the covers, the door to her room opened. The small crack let the light from the living room in and cast a dark shadow on the figure of her father. 'Enjoy it as much as you can, father.' Y/n thought, clenching her hands together as he removed the thin blanket from her body. 'Because this is the last time you will touch me like this.'
——————————
To her utter horror, when she returned from school the next day, her father was sitting in the kitchen, her 'secret bag' next to him on the floor, its contents spilling out on the pristinely clean linoleum, almost as if they were dirtying it. He had a glass of whisky in his hand, the cubes of ice in it almost melted and he was waiting, waiting for her.
“F-father-”
Y/n's voice trembled. Her expression betrayed how she felt. Wide eyes, mouth slightly open. The deafening silence was interrupted by her school bag falling on the floor, her fingers dropping it from shock.
“Good evening, my dear daughter…I realize that this is quite a special day for you.”
He paused for a while, looking her straight in the eyes. He was smirking slightly. It was the closest thing to a smile that y/n had ever seen from him.
Even before her mother died, he always had that constant look of disgust and utter disappointment reflected on his face. The only exception from this was when he beat her or came into her room late at night.
That look of pure power and satisfaction as he watched his daughter get forcefully put back into her 'rightful place' that he always described. Beneath him in every way possible.
“Happy birthday, y/n. I know you've been looking forward to this day for a long time. Do you even know how I felt? When I found this 'diary' of yours?”
He slammed the small book onto the table. The loud 'slap' made y/n flinch in place, hands instinctively moving up to shield her face. A habit she developed awfully young.
“I- When- When did you…”
Y/n couldn't will herself to finish the sentence. Her voice was so quiet that she could barely hear it. It felt like she was naked, stripped bare, and presented in front of her father to observe. His piercing dark eyes that have lost their humanity a long time ago, burrowing deep into her flesh.
She wanted to throw up. Not being able to stomach the way he looked at her. She could feel his superiority oozing out of him as she once again proved that he was two steps ahead of her.
“Almost a year ago. You didn't close your drawer properly. I guess you grew too comfortable, thinking I only entered your room at night and when you were there.”
He paused again, letting his words resonate around the room, taking a sip of his watered-down whiskey.
“You have no idea how hard it was for me to stop myself from beating you to death right that day when you returned from school. But that wouldn't be fair. That would be giving you the easy way out, leaving me in this shit hole alone and without anyone to make it more bearable. Then I wouldn't have someone to take my frustrations on.”
He stopped talking, mumbling something under his breath that y/n couldn't hear. Picking up the glass again, he took a long sip, clearing it of any remaining liquid before throwing it in her direction. It shattered against the door, his aim affected by the alcohol.
“You think you can just leave me here after everything that you put me through!”
His voice was getting louder by the second as he grabbed the bag and threw it at y/n in anger. For a moment, she had hoped that someone would hear the screaming and call the police, but she knew that even if someone did, it wouldn't change a thing.
Her father was a well-respected priest that always got away by saying that y/n was just a problematic teenager that didn't respect her father enough. Most of the police officers in their area attended his sermons and believed everything he fed them, like pigs.
The money spilled all over the floor, all of the hard work she put in in the last four years being trampled on by her sick son of a bitch father that couldn't even admit to his own faults.
“I don't think so…I don't think so…”
Her father kept repeating as he removed his belt, wrapping it around his hand. When the first hit came, she couldn't even cry out in pain, her body refusing to make noise, trained by the constant beatings and threats to make everything worse if she kept crying.
At first, she just stayed there, curled up on the floor as she took hit after hit, her skin darkening from the bruises. Her father slipped on some of the spilled banknotes and was now kneeling in front of her. She could see directly into his face, that twisted smirk mocking her.
'No, no, I can't continue living like this. What about my future, my dreams, my-'
Y/n's thought ran at a hundred miles per hour. She couldn't live like this anymore. She was an adult, a human being. Someone worthy of love and affection. Her father couldn't dictate her life anymore!
She gritted her teeth and reached for the bag just a few centimeters away from her reach. Y/n had gone over the contents of that bag a thousand times, so she knew a small switchblade rested in the small pocket on its right side. She had put it there as protection if she couldn't find a safe place to sleep at night and had to spend some time on the street.
Ignoring her father's hits, who had now switched from his belt to his hands, she slid the knife from its confinement, tightly gripping it by its base, the silver blade glinting under the fluorescent lights.
Her fingertips had gone white from the lack of circulation as she held it in her twitching hand. With as much force as she could exert in her uncomfortable position, she stabbed the blade into her father's side, holding it there for a short while, before twisting it.
The man let out a horrifying scream as he rolled away from her. Before he could even realize what was happening, she ripped it from him and buried it back inside, ignoring the pool of blood forming underneath him. She repeated her action several times, her face contorting with pent-up anger.
As he rolled around the floor in pain, she got up, ignoring the dozens of cuts and bruises on her as she ran out of the door, not even bothering to close it behind her. The only thing she had on her mind was to get away as far as possible. Somewhere he wouldn't be able to reach her.
Her lungs were burning, and her feet were in pain, the switchblade still clenched in her hand, droplets of blood dripping from the tip as she ran.
Y/n collapsed at the beginning of a bridge connecting two sides of the city, divided by a river, quietly flowing into the night. She was so tired it felt like it was lulling her into sleep, her eyes fluttering to a close every few moments as she fought to stay awake.
Despite the bridge being completely desolate, not even cars driving by, the sun was beginning to set, and she didn't want to be so vulnerable in an unfamiliar place in the dark. Her hand finally released the knife, letting it fall on the pavement, the sound reminding her of a bell.
“Oh my god!”
She heard someone exclaim and quick footsteps approaching her. Y/n didn't have enough energy to respond, so she just looked in the direction she heard the voice from.
She could see a tall figure of a girl running toward her, blonde hair almost glinting in the orange sun, making her look otherworldly. As the girl got closer, y/n could recognize the same school uniform she herself had on.
“Y/n? Is that you? God, what happened?”
The girl's face appeared in front of her, a look of genuine concern staring down at her.
“Yunjin…?”
She wanted to laugh. What were the chances of her school's resident troublemaker finding her beaten half to death in a ditch? How fitting.
Yunjin was known around their school for skipping most of her classes and hating any type of authority. She had flunked her senior year and was older than everyone in their class by a year. Her parents were living in the USA and sent her a fat check every month to live off. As long as she didn't get in trouble with the law, they let her do whatever she wanted.
Y/n remembers being so jealous of her. Of how confident she was, how she always seemed so carefree. And oh, what she would give for her father to live far, far away from her.
“Y/n, come on, stay with me. Don't die on me, please! Oh god, what do I do? Hello, 112. Yes, I need help-”
Yunjin's voice faded into the background as she frantically yelled at the 112 operators, not knowing what to do with her. Y/n let out a small laugh that sounded more like a cough as she looked at the older girl pacing in place, casting her panicked glances every few seconds.
“Yeah, yeah…I can do that, for sure.”
Y/n heard Yunjin say as she approached her again. She heard the EMT responders from afar, their siren and bright blinking lights announcing their presence.
Suddenly, Yunjin's hands slipped from behind her, enveloping her in a strange half-hug. Y/n guessed it was more for comfort than for help. But as they waited there, leaning against each other, y/n noticed just how warm the other girl's hands were, rubbing comfortingly at her back.

The consequences of dancing in the rain — Wonyoung x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: Y/n finds out that being sick isn’t such a bad thing
pairings: Jang Wonyoung x fem!reader
tags: sick fic, fluff, short and cute, non!idol au
word count: 639
——————————
Ditching the umbrella and dancing with Wonyoung in the rain seemed genius and romantic at first, but now that y/n was laying in her bed, unable to move, she wanted to kill her past self.
What was she even thinking? Their past period that day was PE which definitely didn’t help with preventing her from getting sick. Now she had to suffer the consequences.
The only benefit was the fact that due to Wonyoung having a freakishly strong immunity, she wasn't sick. Which meant that y/n could be coddled by her sweet girlfriend however much she wanted.
Speaking of her: “Wonyyy! Comeback already! What is taking so long? I miss you!”
Y/n whined, her head tilting to try and see out of the half opened door to her room. Wonyoung left a few minutes ago to get something to eat for y/n, but her absence was much worse than going hungry.
When she received no reply, y/n shuffled out of the thick covers that were basically suffocating her (Wonyoung’s request, she couldn’t decline), and tried to walk towards the door in an effort to see if she was coming back.
Just as y/n was about to step outside of the room, she ran into a surprised looking Wonyoung with a tray in her hands. Y/n could see a bowl of steaming soup and a glass of presumably tea. She shuddered at the combination, before Wonyoung started scolding her.
“What are you doing out of bed y/n? I told you to stay under the covers, you need to be calm and hot to get better!”
Her eyebrows furrowed adorably as she guided y/n back to the bed, trying to balance the tray in one hand.
“But I’m already hot.”
Y/n smirked as she winked at her girlfriend, who just placed the soup down, before pushing her into the mountain of blankets.
“Ouch! You aren’t supposed to hit sick people! You should be gentle with me.”
Y/n pouted, whining and burying herself deep into the covers. Wonyoung could help but laugh at how cute her girlfriend was with only her eyes and the top of her head sticking outside of the thick blanket.
“Please, I just barely touched you. Plus, who’s fault is it that you got sick?”
Wonyoung could basically feel y/n roll her eyes at her.
“Stop blaming me! I just wanted to be romantic…”
Y/n mumbled the last sentence, a heavy blush rising on her cheeks. Despite dating for over three months already, y/n still felt shy with things like these. This was her first relationship, so she wanted to do everything right. It didn’t help that Wonyoung was just so stunning it made her flustered just looking at her.
“Oh? Is someone blushing?”
Said girl teased, a smile on her lips.
“Shut up…It’s just the cold, it’s- it makes cheeks red…and stuff.”
Wonyoung laughed at the older girl, slipping into the bed as well.
“W-what are you doing? You’re going to get sick!”
Y/n exclaimed, the blush on her face increasing significantly. Wonyoung just pinched her cheek, snuggling towards her.
“I don’t care, you’re just too cute to leave alone.”
Y/n had to admit that she really liked it when Wonyoung treated her like this. She usually tried to be the proper ‘unnie’ in their relationship, so it felt nice being treated so softly.
“What about the soup? It’s going to get cold.”
Y/n asked, her voice muffled by the younger girl clinging to her like a koala, despite being taller by several centimeters.
“You can eat it later, for now, let’s just cuddle.”
Y/n let out a quiet “okay”, wrapping her hands around Wonyoung waist, placing her head underneath the younger's chin.
She could feel her soft breaths on her face, slowly lulling her to sleep.
Y/n had changed her mind, being sick was the best.

Invisible — Liz x reader
Tumblr media
summary: Liz and y/n have been dating for almost a year, but recently, y/n feels like she’s invisible.
pairings: Kim Jiwon (Liz) x fem!reader
tags: high school, secret relationship, angst
word count: 1,3k
——————————
It had been almost a year since Liz and y/n began dating. Both of them came from completely different social circles, so it was a miracle they even met each other. While Liz was one of the most popular girls in school, known to be kind, helpful, and overall just a sweetheart, y/n could be described as a loner who didn't eat lunch in the cafeteria, scared of having milk dumped on her.
They first met in middle school but didn't have a solid conversation with each other until years later, when Liz lost her dog while walking him in the park. Coincidentally, y/n was just returning from her part-time job when she saw a small puppy running towards her, dragging its leach behind, and a very frantic Liz sprinting after him, waving at y/n to catch the dog from far behind.
After that whole fiasco, they sat on a nearby bench and got into a conversation. Y/n could relate to Liz. She herself owned a stubborn dog that would just randomly take off to far away land. Both of them remembered this moment fondly and considered it the start of their relationship.
They had started to walk their dogs together almost every day, talking about school and other struggles they faced in everyday life. It was comfortable, and Liz appreciated having someone who understood and respected her around. So, around three months after becoming friends, she asked y/n out on a date. To say that y/n was surprised would be an understatement. She had liked Liz from the moment she laid her eyes on her during middle school and never stopped loving her since. Imagine her surprise when Liz came to her after school once and shyly gave her flowers and a box of chocolates, asking her out.
It was like a dream come true. They began dating just a week before the summer holidays, so they could spend every day together without anyone bothering them. Y/n took Liz to her 'secret spot'. It wasn't anything amazing, just a secluded part of their local park with a small bench that overlooked the whole city, but Liz loved it anyway. It became 'their place', somewhere they could come when it felt like the whole world was against them.
It wasn't all sunshine and roses. When y/n announced their relationship to her parents, they forbid her from ever seeing Liz again. Even locking her inside her room for almost a week. Eventually, they came to an understanding, but seeing their reaction, Liz decided not to tell her parents about dating y/n. She understood, after all, Liz's parents were even more traditional.
Y/n was okay with not being open to the world. It didn't matter. Liz treated her as if she was her entire world, that was enough…at least until school started.
It started small, like when Liz stopped going to school with her, saying: “It's better for me to go with Yujin and Wonyoung. What if someone sees us and starts to ask questions?”
Y/n tried to be as understanding as possible. Liz was just afraid that someone would find out and report back to her parents, but lately, it started to feel like too much.
Liz wouldn't speak to her at school and avoided her like the plague. When she tried to set up dates, they had to be indoors and somewhere where no one from school could see them. Then she had just started rejecting them, choosing to instead hang out with Yujin and Wonyoung. It was always the same thing. “It's just so that they won't become suspicious, y/n, I promise.”.
One of the worst things that y/n had to endure was Liz constantly getting asked out. As the school's sweetheart, she had several secret admirers who left sweet notes in her locker. Y/n didn't mind them as much. They were probably too scared to ask her out, content with staying anonymous. The real problem was the hundreds, okay y/n was exaggerating here, the number of guys that had the guts to ask Liz out in front of the whole school. It would've been fine if Liz just outright turned them down, but she never did, always being gentle, not wanting to look mean.
The final straw was the resident heartthrob Yeonjun confessing to Liz during lunch. He asked her out on a date and gave her a rose. 'Her favorite flowers are lilies, you dumbass.' Y/n thought, almost laughing at how stupid he looked. She had already turned away, knowing how the rest of that interaction will play out. Liz was going to thank him for the flower and then gently reject him, saying that she's focusing on her studies and doesn't have time for a relationship.
“I'll think about it.”
Y/n froze for a moment before her head jerked back. Liz was smiling at Yeonjun, who had an irritating smirk on his face, as the girls sitting with Liz squealed, gushing at how cute they looked. Y/n just looked at the pair, her body refusing to move.
She jumped out of her seat, legs carrying her out of the cafeteria as fast as possible. Tears were streaming down her eyes, making it hard to see what was in front of her. Y/n headed out of the school, not caring about the bag she was leaving behind. She just wanted to get home so she could cry as much as she wanted without people looking at her weirdly.
She already had a hand on her bike when someone jerked her back. As she turned around, she saw Liz standing in front of her, a guilty expression on her face.
“What do you want, Liz?”
Y/n almost shouted. She was already humiliated enough and just wanted to get away.
“I'm so sorry y/n. I didn't mean it. I don't like Yeonjun. It's just that the girls were staring to ask why I kept rejecting everybody, and I didn't want them to become suspicious, so I just-”
Y/n cut her girlfriend off before she could finish speaking.
“It's always the same thing! You didn't want them to become suspicious? Then just say that you don't want to date anyone or that you don't have time for it. Your love life is none of their business!”
Both of them stood still for a moment before y/n started speaking again.
“You know what, I don't believe you. You just don't want to risk your reputation as the school's sweetheart. You'd rather cheat on your girlfriend than have someone dislike you. And are you that embarrassed of me that you can't even look at me in the hallways, or do you just don't want me dragging down your social status?”
The dam broke, and y/n just couldn't stop talking. Everything that she suppressed down, the way she felt every time Liz chose someone else over her just poured out of her.
“It doesn't even feel like we're girlfriends anymore!”
Y/n stood there, her chest heaving from talking so long, waiting for Liz to speak.
“Don't you have anything to say?”
Liz opened her mouth a few times, not knowing what to say.
A sound came from the school's doors. Wonyoung, Yunjin, and the rest of Liz's group stood there, obviously worried about their friend who just ran out of the lunch room after being confessed to by the most popular guy in school. Maybe unconsciously, Liz took a step away from y/n, looking back at her friends.
“I see how it is.”
Y/n said, sighing a bit, before turning around and sitting on her bike. She gave Liz one last look, the other girl not even facing her anymore, more concerned with how to explain this situation to her friends.
“I think it's best if we break up.”
With that she rode off, tears threatening to come back. It hurt, knowing that the person you love doesn't care about you anymore, but like with everything in life, this too will pass.
Y/n was still young, and who knows, maybe once they're older, their paths will cross again. Until then, we’ll just have to wait.

Haerin has had an online friend for a while now.
When she had begun her life as a trainee, a lot of the pressure that came with it made her feel horrible. Not wanting to seem weak in front of the others, she buried all of her feelings inside.
She felt like she couldn’t talk to anyone about it. Her parents weren't the most supportive ones, so she was afraid that instead of comforting her, they would use it as a “We told you so” moment, insisting that she quit. So she decided to vent her frustrations out on a blog.
It was anonymous, of course, god forbid the company found it and kicked her out, or something. They had very strict rules about social media and a blog isn't that much different.
It didn’t receive much attention, which was fine with her, she just needed a place to complain and rant. But one day, she received a private message. It was from a user under the name ‘raccoon_luvr05’, who was apparently also a trainee and related to Haerin.
They had started to talk on the blog site, eventually exchanging their phone numbers, agreeing to only texting, as they wanted to remain anonymous. Haerin would be lying if she said she was never curious about the person behind the messages. They understood her more than anyone she has ever met, and she didn’t even know their name!
The only thing she knew was that they were a year older than her, they were from Jeju and a three year trainee under Starship Entertainment. It was honestly impressive how little they knew about each other, despite sharing their deepest secrets with each other for around two years.
If she were to be honest, Haerin had developed sort of a crush on them. She didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl, but the way they comforted her and cheered her up during her hardest days when she just wanted to quit, made her heart jump. Just thinking about it made her blush, making Hanni tease her from the other side of the practice room.
Her phone was in her hands, the messages between them open on her screen. Haerin stared at them intensely, mentally hyping herself up to send an already written message. After about two weeks of thinking and mulling everything over, she decided that she wanted to meet them. She knew that it was risky, her school made her watch all those cautionary videos about strangers online, but she just couldn’t help herself.
This particular week made her even more sure in her decision. They weren’t able to text as often as they used to, as her friend was currently moving companies, due to Starship delaying their groups debut once again. Haerin missed them so much that it surprised her. The whole week she spent wondering about how they were doing, and if they were fine. Their separation was the final nail in the coffin that made her realize just how much she liked them.
Just as she was about to send the text containing her question about finally meeting up, someone came into the practice room she was in. All of the members stood up and greeted the manager that stepped inside. Haerin saw a young girl behind him, nervously clutching a bag in her hands.
“All right, as you all know a new trainee is joining us today. She will be one of your group's members from now on. I know it may feel a bit strange, since you haven’t met her before, but please be kind to her. She is very talented and we believe her to be a perfect fit with you guys, so please don’t disappoint us, okay?”
All of them nodded, saying yes, bowing to the manager as he left the room, leaving just the girl behind.
“Nice to meet you, my name is Kim Minji, and I’m the oldest. You can consider me an unofficial leader, so if you have any problems or concerns, come to me.”
Minji smiled at the newcomer, the rest of the girls following her example and introducing themselves as well.
“Nice to meet you all, my name is y/n and I was born in 2005, I hope we can be friends.”
She had a soft voice and her eyes almost never left the ground. Haerin was the same when she just joined, understanding the girl's position. She was sure that y/n would open up soon enough.
They had talked for around an hour, before Minji seemed to remember something.
“Oh, I almost forgot. Could you give me your number, so that I can add you to our group chat?”
Y/n nodded, waiting for Minji to take out her phone, before saying her phone number.
As she started speaking, Haerin paused for a moment. It felt like she had seen that number somewhere already. She quickly opened up her phone, scrolling through her contacts, trying to see if that's where she remembered it from.
“Oh.”
She let out quietly, her finger stopping at a very familiar contact profile. It seemed that her wish of meeting her mystery person came true quicker that she had imagined.
