Genuinely think that one of the skills that will be the most useful to a writer is identifying those strengths and acknowledging their worth. That way, whenever you find something interesting in someone else's writing that you might wanna try, you're better suited to find a way to integrate that into your skillset in a way that *serves* what is already there rather than trying to copy a process or style or whatever and neglecting what makes *your* writing so special.

Also, when it comes to writing, I'm always thinking about the time that Russell T. Davies and Steven Moffat each wrote a novelization of one of their Doctor Who episodes.

Both of them were pretty happy with the books they wrote. Then RTD read Moffat's and was like, "Oh, this is how you're supposed to do it. It's chock-full of amazing ideas and has this wonderfully intricate time travel plot. Mine just takes place at a department store."

Meanwhile, Moffat read RTD's and was like, "Oh, this is how you're supposed to do it! It's got layered characters and a vivid setting, not seventeen twists per page."

To me, it's just a perfect illustration of the creative mindset. The things that you're good at are always going to seem less impressive than the things that other people are good at. The things you're good at writing seem easy. The people who are good at the parts of writing you struggle with are so much more talented. It's easy to forget that the things you're good at might seem just as difficult--and be just as impressive--to them.

It's good to notice other people's strengths. But don't underrate your own.

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Dreamer's Moon Ritual

Illustrated a scene form a personal project, intended to be printed as a tcg playmat! I first designed this character about two years ago but have slowly updated him since, and wanted this to be a partial look on the final iteration.

(Also, testing out Glaze! The result looks pretty awesome imo.)

While the "AI art is meaningless because it lacks a soul and human voice, plus it's just ugly" argument is deeply personal to us artists I think we should really focus on the arguments against it in regards to copyright, safety and security for it to be properly regularized.

Congress people don't really care about the humanitarian aspect of art but if we can show just how dangerous it could be if left rampant to create abominations such as revenge porn or falsify criminal evidence, (especially with the recent Sora reveal) laws and regulations will surely pass in no time. And we'll get what we need as a result, protecting the spirit of art, stopping scraping, and looking after the jobs of thousands of creatives everywhere.

Current obsession: clonesclonesclonesclones forever. I haven't had a special interest/hyperfixation this deep since I was like 12-14 so like this is one of the most important things in my life tbh. Specifically like thinking about how their culture would work, and their solidarity, internal conflicts, shared trauma and how that would relate to those things. Their ideas about personal and cultural identity and how that would vary individually. Things like how their upbringing must have felt, how that affected them and who they became later in life, the things they're taught vs what they truly come to believe once they're out on the field, the psychological effects of O66 on the clones who survived and the devastating impact it must have had- Bro stop me or I'll keep going forever like. I'm in deep and tbh? I wouldn't change it for the world.
