anthropocène, installation #02 ongoing Knysna seahorse (hippocampus capensis), endangered. The primary habitat of this species, the Knysna estuary, is among the most heavily used water bodies of South Africa. Human settlements and associated industrial, domestic and recreational activities are increasing around all estuaries where the species has been recorded. The area is under threat from urban expansion and land-use changes in the catchment; stormwater runoff has increased in volume, and peak flows carry suspended sediment into the estuary (strong currents sweep animals and plants out into the sea and silt depositions result in the clogging of gills); rising population and developments to provide piped water threatens freshwater inflow and waste water disposal brings in chemical and biological pollutants. Development surrounding the estuary is known to deposit trace metals, hydrocarbons, pesticides and organic wastes into the estuary. Within the estuary, the cumulative impact of boats may significantly affect the seagrass habitats of this species. Pollution events or other disturbances which affect the submerged plant beds of these estuaries will have a direct and indirect impact on hippocampus capensis populations. source : www.iucnredlist.org #1milliontomiss #seahorse #endangeredspecies #hippocampe #hippocampus #especesmenacees #habitatloss #pollution #anthropocene #anthropocenedmj https://www.instagram.com/p/CFFrge9qBiH/?igshid=1njoo1bvdb8sb

some of the most (detail) 2020 Barbary macaque (macaca sylvanus), endangered. The destruction and degradation of the forest habitat is the most serious threat to the species. Severe habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation have been caused by domestic and industrial consumption of wood, use of fire, clearing for cultivation, overgrazing by sheep and goats herds and extensive logging; rivers pollution and lack of watering places are also putting this species, among many more, at risk. Barbary macaques are also one of the most trafficked species, they are captured, exploited as photo props in tourist areas or sold to be domestic animals #1milliontomiss #barbarymacaque #monkey #endangeredspecies #macaquedebarbarie #macaque #magot #especesmenacees #exploitedspecies #iucnredlist #embroidery #broderie #anthropocene https://www.instagram.com/p/CFC5oqWqk_u/?igshid=cr8t7ipukpv8

anthropocène, installation #02 (detail) ongoing Incidental capture by commercial longline fisheries represents a major threat to the Indian yellow-nosed albatross (thalassarche carteri). Estimates suggest that up to 600 birds are killed annually, comprising mainly adults in the winter months and immatures during the summer fishing season. The populations are decreasing and the species is endangered source : www.iucnredlist.org #1milliontomiss #thalassarche #albatross #albatros #seabird #embroidery #broderie #anthropocene #anthropocenedmj #indianyellownosedalbatross #yellownosedalbatross https://www.instagram.com/p/CFAPx3GqRD_/?igshid=15jjv5aurj353

@savethereef : "Please sign this new petition in the @savethereef bio to protect the Galápagos Islands from 200+ Chinese Fishing Vessels! Right now, these vessels are operating all around the Galapagos Islands, home to one of the most bio-diverse ecosystems on the planet, including species such as whale sharks, scalloped hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, silky sharks, manta rays & more. The site where the Chinese vessels are located is a major migration route for endangered species. A whale shark named Hope was last recorded going 8 knots in the area where the fishing vessels are operating and sadly that is faster than a whale shark can swim. Three years ago, a single vessel was intercepted straying into the protected area around the Galapagos Islands and 300 tons of scalloped hammerhead shark fins were found onboard…that’s just 1 vessel & right now are now 200+ vessels operating! This massive fleet is positioned between the Galápagos Islands Economic Exclusion Zone & Ecuador’s territorial border, which simply means what this fleet is doing is “legal”, because fishing in this area is not regulated since it’s in international waters, & no country has a jurisdiction. But marine life in the area don’t know the borders so WE MUST PROTECT THEM! While China says they will stop fishing in the area from September to November, we need ALL fishing to stop & to do that we need your help! Please sign the petition using the link in our bio to stop ALL fishing in this critical area, directed to the UN to help protect the biodiversity of the Galapagos. Thank you #sosgalapagos #galapagos #saveouroceans #savethereef " https://www.instagram.com/p/CECzlb1KeUl/?igshid=9w3gj81vfkrz

Here is an other image from Moments Before, Study For Telecaster, the animation I made for one of Gabriel Naïm Amor's songs (link in my bio to watch the film) and here is a presentation by What a Mess! Records : "It all started on a gentle spring night in Ramsgate, while on tour to support the release of ‘Moments Before’. Some friends in a backyard, dim multicolored fairly lights, a good bottle of white wine and Barney Kessel playing in the background. Two years later, we are incredibly proud to present the first-ever collaboration between our beloved Gabriel Naïm Amor and Brittany-based visual artist Daphné Jamet, a 3:44 stop-motion animation film centered around ‘Study For Telecaster’, the closing song of the album. Over 1,700 ink drawings on glass slabs, 18 months in the making. Daphné tells us more about the process: ‘There’s something very cinematic about ‘Study For Telecaster’ that immediately caught my ear. I listened to the song a lot and began to imagine a forest, at night, some yellow, pink and gold sparkles against deep bright shades of blue. I wanted a fluid material to work with and the idea of using ink on glass slabs came pretty quickly. The ink allowed me to develop the color palette I had in mind and the glass to play with the transparency and the light. I also wanted great freedom in the dialogue between the images I was creating and Naïm’s music; two breathings meeting, tuning in and moving away before finding each other again, like a dance improvisation’. Let me add this : 💙 @wam_records @amorsonic #animation #stopmotion #ink #gnaxdj https://www.instagram.com/p/CDjO-KmKkb0/?igshid=2babr7qq6z0t
