Nobody’s getting “triggered” over his name. Literally nobody asked for this. The “Twitter snowflakes” want a better environment for actiblizz employees, but that’s apparently too hard for a multi million dollar company so the best they can do is change the name of a fictional character. Which nobody wanted and only serves to distract people from the fact that they’re not fixing anything.
Check the tumblr tags for McCree, and also literally the first few tweets on Twitter. You'd be surprised that a few people wanted it.
Personally, I still believe that this is destroying lore and just a plain pathetic way to please the few people.
When you think about it, it's always backfired horribly every time someone at Blizzard tries to "correct" their mistakes.
It's like when they removed the noose/lasso spray from Overwatch because it triggered little babies into thinking about suicide over a video game item. If video game shit makes people upset that bad, why the fuck would they play it? Wouldn't the same logic apply to what's going on right now over Jesse's name?
I'm gonna ask what that's gonna solve, cause it doesn't take back anything that happened. It's just more work, and all they did was please the Twitter snowflakes.
Not entirely sure why they're changing McCree's name. It's disruptive to the lore, and it's just silly that people are really getting triggered over the name of a fictional character. The name of McCree and the one who was a pred are two completely seperate things. Not only does it destroy lore, but it will also be difficult for creators to rebrand their art for whatever the Hell they decide to change his name to. On top of that, the Overwatch team will have to re-record new voice lines, and even shorts that he was in / mentioned in.
