my fav characters all die wth. niang gets gassed (i didn't hate her so she's close enough) suni and baji get EXECUTED BY A FIRING SQUAD??? ramsa GETS SHOT, and unegen and enki end up leaving....what the flip. but rin gets stabbed by my glorious prince nezha so that's ok....if he dies I'm gonna freak out

rin was always in the wrong and she will always be - a rant

i habent been on tumblr for awhile. here's a rant about rin.

Arson (against the Federation): I won't say that she was wrong for fighting the Feds in the first/second book, because...war. Duh. But what she WAS wrong for was burning Mugen when there were obviously going to be more civilians than soldiers. By the time she was able to burn the place down, the soldiers would have probably already been all around Nikan, so that was just a stupid choice on her end.

Dehumanisation (against the Federation): I get that if she was going to really look at the number of potential victims of the arson, she was going to spiral, but the amount of times she referred to the victims as "numbers" is quite HORRIBLE. I am aware that she felt guilt, but this also brings me to my next point.

"I won the last war. You wouldn't even be standing here without me." (Rin, page 177): Rin has shown mixed feelings on the opinion of if Nikan won the war or not, with her saying "It seemed horrifically unfair that life could keep on going and these people could be celebrating a war that they hadn’t won for themselves, when they hadn’t suffered for it …" Honestly, I felt kind of annoyed at that. OF COURSE THEY WERE CELEBRATING. THEY SURVIVED A FREAKING WAR??... AND IT ENDED?? (as far as they knew). Any place, even if not as severely affected by war as others, WOULD CELEBRATE THE END OF A WAR.

meanie (to nezha , aka, the BEST character in the poppy war): Rin was really mean to Nezha. Sure, he might've been racist or classist or whatever, but HE'S LITERALLY NEZHA? He might not be the Third Lotus Prince in this (which I'm surprised didn't pop up in the first 2 books or any reference to actual nezha), but he is CLOSE ENOUGH. Anyways, Nezha is the reason why I started reading TPW, and seeing him slandered so many times really made me angry. I may or may not have a bias towards Nezha/against Rin, but everyone can agree that Rin is NOT a girlboss and Nezha slays.

Nezha is awesome. He's probably one of the best thought out characters in this book. But I CANNOT visualise him as his in-book descripiton.
