Any #Bucky fans out there? This is my #Immortal variant cover for #Strikeforce issue 1, out later this month. I wanted to keep a softer look to the faces morphing on this one, so I opted for doing a traditional gouache tonal painting (with a little digital blur) instead of the usual pencil and ink line art (swipe through to see my greyscale painting). Here’s the finished #Storm piece, rendered in #CopicMarkers, with some gouache highlights. I like adding some subtle colour to some of my grey marker pieces, it just adds a little extra touch to the art. I really like using #Holbein Artists Gouache for my white effects too. My second cover for War of the Realms: Uncanny X-Men issue 2! I've been trying to mix a bit more digital into my workflow lately. A lot of my layouts and pencils have been 100% digital lately. I still prefer inking on paper, so I've mostly kept that side traditional, but it's been interesting adding an iPad into my workflow. I'm still not 100% happy with the hardware/software of the iPad, so I do lean a lot more towards my laptop for finished work; I find I have a lot more control on my Cintiq, and more options and versatility in Photoshop.
