Jenna Heap redraws!! I’m falling back into the obsession…

UPDATE: Y'all, we just started Part 2 a couple days ago, and things are POPPING OFF. Now is a great time to get caught up. It's no exaggeration to say that every single chapter I have left to post leaves me as excited as a HUNGRY DOG.

So you guys know The X-Files? Dana Scully Fox Mulder love of my life? Do you guys also know that Dana Scully is absolutely 100% immortal?

Like do me a favor and Google "scully immortal tithonus" right now. Take a peep at those results. It's mostly people on various forms of journalism websites DECONSTRUCTING REALITY over the INDISPUTABLE FACT that DANA SCULLY IS IMMORTAL. (tldr in the episode "Tithonus," this guy describes becoming immortal by "giving" Death's gaze to someone else at the moment of his death. And at the end of the episode he "takes" Scully's chance to look at Death by telling her to close her eyes after she's shot. So... how else am I supposed to read that. She's immortal bro. She came down in a bubble, Doug)

This "plothole" has obsessed and consumed me ever since I first watched The X-Files in 2017.

So I wrote it.

It's called X-Tropy.

Mulder comes back as a ghost because there's no way in hell that man is "moving on" without her. You cannot even begin to fathom the levels of BURNING ANGST AND YEARNING that this generates.

I've already written the whole thing. I'm just posting it one chapter at a time. This is risk-free on your part. I've done all the work. You just get to sit back and GO INSANE. FOR FREE. ON THE INTERNET!!!

Anyway here's a picture from a real photo shoot of Scully and Mulder posing as dead bodies in a morgue because that's just how canon this fic is I guess

the Herblore skill, i thought about what i was gonna do for this skill specifically for a bit, until i did the farming skill, i had the idea of plants growing around the character, but i decided to move that imagery to this skill cus i think it fits better with how long you stay in the same spot cleaning herbs and grinding ingridients to make potions

Magyk Characters as Onion Headlines Part 1

Binding of the technically-unpublished technically-unfinished Doctor Who novel, Time's Champion by Craig Hinton! This was a commission for a friend, and they've officially recieved it now so I can ramble about design choices. The book is a folio binding with rounded spine, which is something I've been working on learning for a bit now.

The book cover - obviously designed to look like Six's coat! I used this excellent blog post as a reference while tracking down all of the bits of colorful fabric I'd need, it was a lifesaver. There's a little cat charm on the ribbon, because of course there is, and (it's not really visible in any of the photos) hand-sewn headbands in black-and-yellow, to resemble the sleeves of that coat.

If the book itself is Six, then the case is the Valeyard! Because obviously, this book is all about the conflict between those two. The clamshell case was a last-minute addition, because I hadn't ever done one before and wasn't sure if I'd be able to pull it off. But I did, and it looks great - that's metallic silver HTV on the outside. 'Time's Champion' is on the spine using the WS Simple Gallifreyan font - I thought about using Sherman's, but it's a bit too circular. The writing around the front and back frame is in Assassin's Gallifreyan, aka the writing the Doctor uses in the serial The Deadly Assassin. It's the names of all of the gods of Gallifrey, who show up in the book itself - Time, Fate, Life, Pain, Hope, and Death - repeated over and over. The book fits snugly into the case, and I've got my fingers crossed that it managed to protect the book on the way over.

I kept the internal typeset simple - Alegreya typeface with Bernard MT Condensed chapter headings and highlights. These are the straightest margins I've ever cut in my life. I impressed myself.

It seems that nobody has ever really been able to agree on what genre Faction Paradox is - it could arguably fit into fantasy, sci-fi, weird fiction, magical realism, or a billion other categories. I think the closest I’ve ever seen someone get was classifying it as historical fiction. However, with its emphasis on differing perspectives - for example, chapter 2 of the first part of Warring States shows an account of an expedition into a Chinese tomb by the British archaeologist who lead the expedition while chapter 2 of the second part shows an account of the same expedition by a Chinese worker, and Warlords of Utopia is told in the first person to show the mindset of a citizen of Roma I - and on history as a structure - history being imposed on the Spiral Politic by the Homeworld maps fairly nicely to the fact that, in real life, history isn’t just the past, it’s the narrative around the past, and the primary view of history can be seen as being imposed on the rest of the world by Europe - I think the best genre classification for FP is historiographical fiction.
