Obviously Erskine & the Children of the Spider’s plan was never going to work. You can’t have a world where sorcerers rule without it leading to mortal oppression in some shape or form. And Erskine did a lot of awful shit to get to the point where he could try and enact that plan. That being said…

It’s always bothered and will continue to bother me that Derek Landy handles Erskine with very little nuance. Because if you boil it down to its barebones… Erskine was a man in a fairly comfortable position. He saw people who couldn’t navigate the world like he could, and he decided he wanted to make things fair for them. That doesn’t make his end goal or any of what he did okay, but I think we have to acknowledge that Erskine’s motivation boils down to wanting to create a world he perceived to be fair for people who were a lot less fortunate than he was. That’s who Derek Landy decided was a borderline irredeemable villain, deserving of a pretty awful death no one can come back from. And Idk, it’s always rubbed me the wrong way.

blue sargent who ran away from home as a kid but got dragged back by the cops. who got told her true love would die, so she resigned to never love. who felt suffocated by her home town and her loving family and just needed to leave. who felt like her love results in tragedy, and that she would always be abandoned, by her father, mother, persephone, and someday her raven boys.

but blue grows, and learns that she can leave and come back. that she can love and be vulnerable to being hurt. she learns that she does not have to escape to become free, that she can have her roots, with trees in her heart and eyes on the stars, and that her love is worth everything. blue learns that her home and love are not her prison, they are her beginnings

im up and im thinking about ghastly bespoke.

what if you lived through a 300 year war, watched your best friend die, your mother die, almost everyone around you dies. and then you cut yourself off from the majority of society, you board yourself up in your home and you make your new purpose something safe. you have your best friend back, but he's not the same he was and he never will be. none of you will.

and then you're roped back in, you lose several years of your life as a human statue, and when you come back, you lose the woman you've developed feelings for. you're roped into a job in politics you don't want to have because a friend asks you to do it, and this the closest you can get to finding a way to bring that woman back.

and so now you've given up the life of peace you crafted, you never have time for yourself, you're living for other people. but you're not alone, you have your friend, he understands. and then he stabs you in the back, tears in his eyes as he kills you, and you realise you will never get back to who you were when you were peaceful, you'll die here in a job you didn't want in a place that isn't home.

valkyrie cain truly is the most character of all time. she killed a guy at 12 years old. she inherited a haunted house. her coworker is a skeleton. she didn’t fucking go to school. she’s ripped as hell. she accidentally started a cult made up of about five people. she’s bisexual. she sees the future but really inaccurately. she has a pet dog. she’s the antichrist. she dates a scottish necromancer who works as a teacher. she survived a zombie apocalypse. she has guilt over killing someone who is still alive. she’s not allowed to drive the bentley. she destroys humanity. she saves humanity. she accidentally discovered the Bad parallel dimension. she’s broken out of several prisons. she birthed a race of gods. she has a brief stint as the antichrist again but this time religious flavoured. she can fly. there’s a timeline where she turns into a harpy. she does everything out of spite. she’s been decapitated. she has two evil doppelgängers. she’s a victim of medical malpractice. she fucking hates one cop in particular. she’s friends with loser gay zombies who own a pub. she accidentally caught the attention of budget edward cullen. she hates walking. the list goes on and on. truly the most character of all time.

and also not to sound like a conservative but please stop turning your gender identity into a personality trait. if we want to be treated like the normal people we are, we can't also be acting like the fact of being nonbinary somehow inherently makes us special and unique and interesting. because it doesn't. it's just gender. nothing about it is inherently interesting and nothing about it makes us interesting. and i know this because some of you have like three different slurs in your gender identity and you're still impossibly boring and hollow
