you know a lot of people get really sad about killua saying "friends shouldnt thank each other, doing stuff like this is just a qualifier/expectation of friendship" yet accepting a thank you from gon at the world tree, taking it as an implication that their relationship has deteriorated. but imo its a sign both of their perceptions of friendship are beginning to mature enough to where a) they can be vulnerable like that, b) not be so overreliant as to take crazy shit as an inherent given. killua specifically i think has learned that hes allowed to expect stuff from people and "thank you" / "im sorry" is the first baby step

i do think the idea that thank you = not friends is another example of killua saying some bullshit and people absorbing it as true and real without recognizing that he is traumatized and also frequently stupid lmfao
