Easy roles? Since when playing six personalities in one scene and a man losing his control before the woman he loves, became easy?
Dude is being wasted by his company and yet manages at least one memorable scene in every drama he has a role.
Let's not forget that he's made all that by solely acting abilities and zero brand ambassadorship and minuscule fan service (which has been zero for his two latest dramas).
Saw someone complained about liu xueyi acting too much in xianxia dramas, claiming that he's just doing easy roles with no growth.
Some people really hate seeing a hot man be pathetic and desperate, huh. Personally, I hope he keeps playing these roles forever. For one, he looks incredible in xianxia. And also he actually brings a lot of complexity to his characters, making him a compelling watch.
#liu xueyi#he does look good as a morally gray costume drama character#but i can't help slapping the one who says his roles are easy#it is a lot being wasted by your company#and your looks being ruined by heavy costume makeup#watch his interviews for cctv spring festival gala#you can see how much his face has suffered#and he has managed to accumulate all his fans by only acting and zero commercial activities#while huanrui has enough money to give him more resources

It's a bit cruel to call him Meng Yao-coded. He goes overzealously far in redeeming himself while Meng Yao goes too deep in acting on his traumas.
if yun biqiu has a million fans, then i'm one of them. if yun biqiu has one fan, then i'm that one. if yun biqiu has no fans, that means i'm dead. win or lose. 0 deliberately sabotaged traps or 10 deliberately sabotaged traps. good form or bad form i will always love and support you even if the whole jianghu stands against you 🤘😔

Nope. He does have extreme self-esteem issues than even therapy might not fix, but a man able to rebuild everything from ashes will never go this low. He might disapprove of your opinion but will never abandon you.
[ref. At Guanyin temple, when he intercepted the guqin string aiming for Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, and was furious when he realized Wei Wuxian was framed for what happened to Jin Zixun.]
If Jiang Cheng was in the modern day right now, he would be one of the first pioneers of "male loneliness epidemic" that spewed hateful rhetoric against child-free women using the traditional value jargons.

haterisms beneath the cut
this hater poll brought to you by....a series of Bad Mcfucking Takes i had to read with my own eyeballs. seriously did we read the same book or not.
explanations:
"jiang cheng killed wei wuxian": jiang cheng did not kill wei wuxian in any version of the story. in mdzs wei wuxian died from backlash and in cql wei wuxin chose to let go of lan wangji after jiang cheng stabbed the cliff face. you can argue till the cows come home about how responsible jiang cheng is for wei wuxian's demise, but "jiang cheng killed wei wuxian" is just factually incorrect.
"jiang cheng abuses jin ling": jiang cheng does not abuse jin ling. first, the narration goes out of its way to establish that jiang cheng does not hit jin ling, specifically in a setting where hitting children is normalized and expected. in fact, wei wuxian says that jin ling is bratty specifically because he's never been hit. second, jin ling is also clearly comfortable talking back to jiang cheng and needling him in a way jiang cheng definitely was not with his own parents. even when jiang cheng is actively losing it when he captures wei wuxian in qinghe, jin ling remains completely unruffled - which speaks to how much jin ling takes for granted that he is safe with jiang cheng.
"jiang cheng could have easily helped the wen remnants, he just didn't": antis love to act like yunmeng jiang could have easily taken in the wemnants and jiang cheng simply chose not to because he was a hater/super jelly/various synonyms for ontologically evil. which is not the fucking case. learn to read. yunmeng jiang's own position post sunshot was very weak - they were a great sect in name only and were excluded from the alliance tying the three other great sects together - and jiang cheng could not politically afford to protect wei wuxian after wei wuxian alienated lanling jin. that's why jiang cheng says "if you insist on doing this, i can't protect you," and why wei wuxian then tells jiang cheng to let him go. because they both understand this. come on
"jiang cheng forced jiang yanli to marry jin zixuan": jiang yanli as a character makes so many sacrifices for her family and her brothers. her relationship with zixuan is like the one thing she chooses for herself. she loves him!! the tragedy in wei wuxian killing jin zixuan is that yanli genuinely loved zixuan!! ngl i think antis argue this purely to try to exonerate wei wuxian: if jiang yanli didn't love jin zixuan then wei wuxian donutting him isn't a problem anymore, apparently. this is the result of people thinking of jiang yanli as purely a thing for wei wuxian, rather than a human being in her own right.
"jiang cheng should have protected wei wuxian from yu ziyuan": this one is annoying because jiang cheng was also a child. when a child is abused, it is the fault of the abuser, not the fault of another child who is also subject to the whims of the abuser. come on.

I haven't read the novel thoroughly, but I know the timeline of the drama is a bit different:
In the backstory of Mu Qingge taking in Su Yi Shui, everyone keeps saying that Mu Qingge is no older than 25.
Su Yishui is 10 years old when his father comes for him (his mother: isn't that the biological father of my son who hasn't shown up for 10 years)
8 years later (he overhears the conversation between his father and that wizard, who declares that eight years have passed and the língquán (灵泉) has taken root in Su Yishui's heart), just before his birthday, Mu Qingge kidnaps him. So he's eighteen when he is taken to Xīshān (西山).
Three years later, he forms his golden core, making him 21 and Mu Qingge 28. Just after that, he becomes a demon and Mu Qingge dies during the chaos.
Nearly 18 years pass, Xue Ranran is a teen, Su Yishui is 39, since during his seclusion, he was alive unlike Chu Wanning and his 5 year seclusion:D Xue Ranran's age isn't specified but given the early fall of her fruit and her characteristics, she's at least 16 and at most 18.
(From here on, everything else is quite as you said) 2-3 years pass before Ranran forms her golden core and the chaos ensues: Su Yishui is 41 and she is 18-20.
Su Yishui's memory shrink back to his teen self so now he's a 16 year old boy in a 41 year old's body.
Xue Ranran gains 28 years of lost memory, so she becomes (the oldest) a 20 year old with the mind of a 48 year old.
Su Yishui's memory matches his life again and three years pass. He is 44 in every way but appearance:D and Xue Ranran is a 23 year old with a 51 year old's mind.
Ages of Su Yishui & Mu Qingge/Xue Ranran
SYS is 16 (in the novel) when MQG originally kidnaps him and she's over 25
3 years later, he's 19/20 and she's late 20s when she dies
SYS spends 18 years in Ice Cave Hibernation, so does that really count as growth/aging? But either way, he's 38 and she's 18 when SYS meets XRR
2ish years pass
SYS reverts back to his 16 year old self when he loses his memories and XRR regains her past memories, so she's like 48
SYS gets his memories back, 3 years pass
When they marry, SYS is 45 and XRR is... I don't know, her body is 23 and her mind is 51
They have three kids at SYS 57ish and XRR&MQG at 36/64 but they both have like 1000 year lifespans to who cares
Math.

I'm so desperate to go back home and restart doing fics. Now I have a handful of MLC fics to complete, but what my heart wants the most is doing a big, slow project on Tushan Jing and Xiaoyao's relationship coz their codependence and swept-under-the-rag traumas gives space to some deep existential issues.
#lost you forever#mysterious lotus casebook#yaojing#theres just less than 250 lyf fics and all of them are either yaoliu or yaoliujing#jing has loads of issues under that sweet facade and that's worth exploring in my eyes#tushan jing#xiao yao
