Building on my last posted piece, I’ve decided to create a series of pieces each building on the other. This is my OC Ianthenna. Since the last piece, I’ve been focusing on heads, torso shape, and curly hair. I’ll be posting the practice pieces between the first Ianthenna painting and this one soon ^_^ (also just figured out tonight that I can add image ALT text in the iOS app. Wish I could add it on desktop though -_-;;

Finally posting to Tumblr again, yessss T____T

I have felt so art blocked; even though I’ve been working to fill two sketchbooks (and am just a handful of pages away from accomplishing just that!), I haven’t felt like I want to share anything.

Maybe I can work through those feelings and share the artistic messiness anyway, even if it feels strange and confusing. November has always been the time of year where I feel energized to start projects, so onward!

Alright - last artwork to post of the night & I’m all caught up! This one of is of my OC Arienna.

I’ll admit, I kind of fail to use Tumblr as much as I would like, compared to Instagram or Twitter, because Tumblr’s note/commenting system totally intimidates me and I don’t understand it and I feel like I *should* since I work as web designer/UX person...but alas ;_;

Was dealing with art block for the last two months T_T 

Good news though - finally pushed through it & have a couple more art pieces after this to post ^_^v Though they are kind all over the place in terms of style. Ah well! It’s more important to me that I make the art, than to try to make it perfect or even terribly cohesive.

“The Sorceress of Eventide”

Wrapped up a WIP last night that I started way back in September of last year (but mostly worked on in April). Building on top of the original file’s layers made me realize how much I’ve started to learn to make forms feel more rendered/three-dimensional. It was hard trying to work over an older piece and make it work, but I didn’t want to give up on the idea. Definitely struggled with the lighting; looking at it now, the shadows could have been better. Still, I am trying to learn to finish a piece and move on. I could nick pick a painting so that it’s trapped in WIP-mode forever or I could do my best at the moment and learn as I go forward.

Work, work, work in progress gently on the screen. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, I can’t believe it’s 11:31p.m. my shoulder feels like it’s going to fall off X_x

Another WIP - having so much trouble with this one T_T - I tried starting in gray scale and then coloring and its’ been kind of a mess of overlay plus just painting over my under-painting completely. Clearly need/want to practice skin tones more (and a wide variety) plus the whole gray scale to color technique.

My hope right now is to just finish another piece - too many work-in-progress files haunting my computer ._.*  The light source on this one is going to be an amulet (that I painted over while trying to fix the neck…), so hence the odd lighting angle.

Finished! :3  A celestial muse ~ the energy behind the mask, nothing you can really ever grasp.  But perhaps one could wear its beauty for a bit?

Might as well add the rest of my Huevember pieces, while I have the motivation :sweat drop: All studied from Pexels.com creative commons zero photos. I enjoyed the challenge, hope to do it next year with simpler subjects, maybe quick speed painting landscapes or cute designs.

Oh, one day I’ll get caught up posting art here... My IG has been dormant the last few weeks as well, after my 10 year old kitty unexpectedly passed away from cancer in early February :( It’s been hard getting back into art after feeling loss, even though that feels weird and selfish to express :/

Huevember No 13-18 I am soooo behind on updating Tumblr with past art 😭 I’ve been mostly using Instagram...but I wanna be able to post messy WIP and practice over here! I’ll admit part of it is I’ve never really understood how to use Tumblr hahaha...I grew up with LiveJournal and Deviantart and the reblogging/commenting system here makes me so confused 😓 Ah well, as in art practice makes...better than before (since perfect isn’t what I’m concerned about 😛) All photos referenced from Pexels CC0 photos.
