Yes, both Ace and Murdoc definitely knew there was something going on there, the bet was, mainly, about when it would happen. Murdoc lost for a few good years.

Noodle's training has always been so interesting to me, and it has so much potential. We don't know much about it in canon, which gives me more room to try and fill the missing holes and build her character. It marked her as a child and a woman, of course. All the horrors, all the pressure. But what if that training kept going until she was a young woman? That's how The Nox AU was born.

As for Stu... He's such a good guy with a shitty life, really. And his connection with 23 is a proof of that.

Your art is glorious I'm obsessed

I saw gorillaz in Sydney recently and like now I've gotten hyperfixated on them which hasn't happened since like the plastic beach albums release when I was in primary school lol

Anyway I saw you have drawn a few sandman references in your art and was wondering if your had any opinions on the new show (I'm going to watch is with my dad cause it's like the one comic we both love after we finish the riversounds festival)

First of all, I wish I could see Gorillaz live! I am sure it was a wonderful experience.

As for The Sandman, I can only say two words: watch it. I watched the entire series in two days right after it was released, and the new extra episode just yesterday. And. It. Is. Breathtaking. I, like you, read the comics first, and they became my absolute favorite series and universe of all times. There's just something about Neil's writing... it consumes you, traps you and makes sure you never want to let go. The series does just that.

It is, possibly, one (if not the!) of the best adaptations to screen of a comic I have ever seen. The series brings to life every favorite panel and scene of all fans. The Dreaming feels like a place of true fantasy, the Library is everything I ever hoped it would be, the Diner, Hell, the prison... And the acting!

I can say a million things about Tom's performance and it will never be enough, because it's brilliant and absolutely ethereal. He truly understands Morpheus and it's breathtaking to watch. Death is such a beautiful character, and we get to see her gentle nature as well as her doubts and fears. Desire, Lucienne, Lucifer, Rose, the Corinthian (and I swear, every time he shows up on screen is like a breath of fresh air)... They are all the same characters we know them to be, and yet they have something new, something alive.

And yet, of all the performances, I think my favorite was David Thewlis'. That man... John Dee... It was terrifying to watch.

So, yes, I only have two words for you: watch it.

Hello! And yes, I have a few — some settled in The Nox AU, while the rest can work nicely both in canon and any other AU that includes them both as a couple, and really good friends.

Noodle has nicknames she uses to name the boys, ones she came up with when she was a child, and uses regularly to either express her care and appreciation of them, or try and convince them to do anything she wants. She always succeeds. These nicknames are Japanese words that remind her or define the rest of the band. Murdoc is Karasu — Crow. Russel is Haku — White, due to his eyes. And 2D is Chi, which means Blood.

2D's eyes were the first thing 23 saw when she met the boys. They are her favorite thing about Stuart, and likes to get lost in the red of them. They are made of warm Blood and, as such, that became his name.

Both Noodle and 2D share a tattoo of the Chi Kanji. They also have a tattoo of the name of the other — 2D for her, 23 for him.

They love to read The Sandman together. Stuart introduced the comic to Noodle when she was young, and she became obsessed with it. They usually cosplay The Endless, Death being Noodle's favorite.

The mask she used during Plastic Beach (the same one she wears in The Nox AU) used to belong to Stuart, who used it in carnivals when he was a child.

Noodle steals 2D's clothes, and refuses to give them back unless he buys more. That is, of course, so she can steal more.

Noodle's mother was a woman named Sora Misaki. When they found out about this and couldn't contact her, Noodle decided to travel back to Japan and search for her. 2D goes with her.

2D has Marfan Syndrome, which means that his vision is nearly nonexistent — the accidents and the hyphema did not help with this. He has glasses, of course, and he needs them permanently. However, after years being bullied, he decides not to wear them in public. It's a silly thing, really, but also a scar and Noodle tries to heal it. So, she helps him walk without bumping into anything and acts as his eyes when they're in public.

She has made her mission to help 2D understand that he is not alone, that he is not useless, that he is worth more than most people and that he is strong. Anyone who dares to speak a word against him because of his looks or personality will face her anger.

No one wants to be the target of an angry Noodle.

Due to his condition, 2D needs to take beta-blockers to keep his blood pressure in check, along with the pills for his headaches and pain. He usually forgets, so Noodle reminds him to take them every day.

She takes care of him and this, eventually, drives them closer. Noodle knows every need of his, and 2D tries to make it up to her in every way he can.

Their feelings develop naturally, and it takes years and help from their friends to accept them. It is hard, with the life they live and everything they've been trough. Sometimes the differences between them feel abysmal. But they grow and learn together.

When they finally tell the rest of the band they're together (which comes as no surprise) Murdoc frowns and gives two hundred pounds to Ace, who smiles deviously and says "I won".

2D, surprisingly, is a master of the art of flirting. No one can believe it when he decides, all in good fun, that Noodle makes a good teasing target. To his own amazement, she flirts back.

Every Saturday night, 2D and Noodle visit a club downtown and play a little game of theirs: Who can get more phone numbers through the course of the night, both from boys and girls? Noodle wins. Every. Single. Time.

Rachel Pot loves Noodle. They are both passionate, they both protect those they love fiercely, and they both command Stuart to put on his glasses at the same time and with the same posture. Murdoc fears the women, Russel is amused by them and Stuart is torn between hiding from their gaze or hug them both and thank them for their care.

Every once in a while, 2D and Noodle listen to old disco hits all the way from the 70's to the early 2000's — and they listen to them loudly. And dance. A lot. Ace loves to join them, as does Russel, if only to see them make a fool of themselves. Murdoc, however, never joins. Expect for that one time when they all watched, terrified, as he danced to the tune of Barbie girl with all his might.

Hi! And yes.

Sora plays an important role in The Nox AU (and, by extension, any other AU she might be a part of, including the original universe). Her story is tragic, and the events that separated her from her baby daughter are not easy to talk about.

You'll get to know her better in time. But, for now, be glad to know that Sora is a woman that keeps her feelings at bay, shows nothing but a cold facade to the outside world and is a dear friend to one Rachel Pot.

I wonder what her reaction would be, after spending most of her life looking for her daughter, once she meets 23...

All 2D ever wanted was to reach people with his music, to touch their very soul and find comfort within the lyrics he wrote late at night.

But that was something that proved itself difficult when you work in a bar, a record shop and giving private piano lessons simply to survive. Life was hard, but he did his best. One night, after a long shift at The Nox (the bar was far more silent than usual) Stuart decided to take an alternative route home, just around the alley behind the building.

That's when he saw it.

At first it was just a shadow of a person, dressed in red and catching their breath in quick and sharp moves. He got closer, asking out loud if they were okay, if they needed help. No one answered. So Stuart reached out and, slowly, pressed a soothing hand against the girl's shoulder (as he had come to recognize the figure as that of a woman).

The next thing he knew, he was on the floor with his own switchblade pressed against his throat.

She was not dressed in red, but her white coat was drenched in a crimson liquid he suspected to be blood.

She was in control, hovering over him and pressing his hurting body against the cold concrete, sharp metal on his skin.

He was going to die.

He could not die. Not so soon. So he watched her.

The way she pressed her lips together, or the unnatural strength of her hand on his shoulder. Stuart watched as her empty and cold eyes pierced his soul. She was haunted and he was dead. Her eyes were even sharper than the blade.

That's how he met Number 23.

That's the first of two first encounters.
