The discourse on terrorism is generally devoid of historical perspectives (‘terrorists are pure evil’ is one popular trope) and lacks any positionality because, it is assumed, terrorists simply live outside of morality and social norms. But such ahistorical and essentialist attitudes came to haunt this discourse when a former terrorist, Nelson Mandela, became a Nobel Peace Prize winner, or, more recently, when Osama bin Laden, a former American ally, ‘turned’ terrorist. The discourse on terrorism also does not account for state terrorism, whereby state institutions such as the army or police inflict violence on civilian populations, as was the case in Nicaragua and Chechnya (and by the US via the Contras). This last point is particularly missing from the discourse on the Palestinian–Israeli conflict. All attacks on Israelis, whether inside the 1967 border or outside, whether targeting soldiers or civilians, are dubbed terrorist attacks. But dropping a one-ton bomb from an Israeli airplane on a five-story Palestinian house, in which a militant may be present, knowing full well that dozens of civilians will be killed, is hardly ever described in Western media as terrorism.

🤍 🖤 💀
ask me for my unpopular opinions
🤍: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think?
genuinely Elder Abbadina from Hearthdell... like she was inspired by Ludinus' speech, but immediately condemned the man himself when the Hells told her abt him. Being a former cult member who did not completely change all of their foundational belief systems is not inherently wrong. Even with her pushing the Hells into taking the temple that night - at that point she had a golden opportunity with powerful allies, or her one chance to secure her town's freedom was about to be deeply compromised if the Hells instead decided to, say, tell the church of her plan in exchange for Scry. So like. I get why she wanted things to move quick lol
🖤: Which character is not as morally good as everyone else seems to think?
Orym. He's very good! He has such a big heart for such a little man! He means so well and is so empathetic! But. He struggles a lot with his own grief getting in the way of the big picture, and is incredibly afraid of change in general. The status quo carried him quite fine for 29 years, and there's a part of him at his core that wants nothing but to return to the world he lived in then, before Will and Derrig died, even if he knows it was cruel to many.
💀: If you had to choose one major character to die, who would you choose?
I'm going to say one of the gods, specifically the Prime Dieties. I don't think Predathos should get to eat em all, but I think it getting to chomp at least one of them is way too good a moment to pass up. it also feels like it should be one of the gods most prominently featured in this campaign, but NOT the Raven Queen, so its probably either the Dawnfather or the Wildmother I fear

🧡🧡🧡 ask me for unpopular opinions
🧡: What is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?
This is wracking my brain bc it feels like most of the theories i see double as character interpretations or are like, baked DEEPLY in pre-Calamity lore I am only beginning to grasp. But I would say the theory that Predathos will successfully eat all the gods and then move on to eating mortals too. Not only does the vision Evontra'vir showed the Hells suggest the gods will leave Exandria and Predathos will give chase if its released, but also. If you are living on a diet of prime rib steaks, you are not going to start eating ants the instant you run out. It is not worth your time. You will go to the store.

thank you!! ask me for unpopular opinions
🧡: What is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?
well this was gonna be my answer regardless, but i'm glad that you asked lol: the idea that Ludinus is simply power-hungry/jealous of the gods' power, and ultimately aiming to replace them himself. just the most boring way you could interpret the actions of a villain who seems to have way more complicated and unique motivations.
🤍: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think?
it's hard to say anything or anyone from the Ruby Vanguard given that they are in fact Quite Evil. but their beliefs regarding the gods are not!, and certainly a lot of, if not most of, the individual members are much more morally conflicted and redeemable than people On Here like to think.
💖: What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?
Anyone who thinks that c3 should be, is, or is supposed to be a fairly morally black and white story about saving the gods no questions asked and killing all the bad guys is the weakest link and will not survive the winter.

ty!!! ❤️ ask me for unpopular opinions
❤: Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom?
This is a hard one bc there are truly. So many options. I'm going to go with Ashton, just bc a lot of people who like him don't get him either, and also bc they're the only example where i've seen people accuse the player themself of lying/not understanding the character bc they gave an insight into the characters' thought process that directly contradicted their interpretation. shout out to Imogen, Liliana, and Orym especially though
💛: What is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?
Callow/moore lol. even before shardgate I was already of the opinion that, once you got past the chaos flirting, their personalities and damage would actually clash pretty badly in any real relationship. so
💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
since I answered for Ashton above i'll throw this one to Imogen, although that is also difficult. bc also no one understands her. but the idea that she has ever been at serious risk for willingly joining the Vanguard and Predathos is insane. it was deeply unlikely in ep 49, and it only becomes more unlikely as time goes on to the point of feeling near impossible now.

ask me for unpopular opinions!
💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
EVERYTHING... I AM THE ONLY ASHTON UNDERSTANDER IN THE UNIVERSE IT FEELS... but seriously like. the biggest thing is that everything Ashton does and says is not bc he doesn't care but because they care SO MUCH about everything and everyone. There is endless love in that rock, and when you've lost all that they have that becomes a horrible vulnerability and a terrifying weakness to be exposed. And so you try to hide it as much as you can. But you can’t because it bleeds out anyways. Ashtonnnnnn
Also he would not fucking have abs
💜: Which character is way hotter than everyone else seems to think?
On that note, Ashton. But mostly in the sense that people try to make them hot in a buff masc barbarian way, when really he's hot because hes insane and has a pretty face and linecook energy

💙: Which character is not as hot as everyone else seems to think?
This is a bad one for me I fear, because I like. Specifically try not to be mean abt who other people find hot bc I get that its deeply subjective. I guess my answer would be Fearne? And even then she's like obviously still hot lol

ask me for unpopular opinions!
🤍: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think?
I was going to say all of Bells Hells, but really I mean Imogen, Laudna, Ashton, and Fearne, although with Fearne it tends to be more dismissive, or overemphasize her "chaotic fey" behavior, while the other three all get plenty of people who cast them as heartless and selfish.
💔: If you had to remove one major character from the series, who would you choose?
DCHDGSG OKAY LOOK... I love Dorian and I love Robbie as a player even more but. Dorian. His whole deal upends the Hells' whole low institutional power "party of npcs" deal completely, and I am simply more interested ih what that thematic resonance adds to BH than what he does 😭 also his stans are annoying
💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?
Widobrave my beloved... there are a lot of rarepairs I like less popular than it, but Widobrave feels like the one where the most people actively dislike it
🏳️‍🌈: Which character who is commonly headcanoned as queer doesn't seem queer to you?
Jester and Fjord are giving ally to me sorry
