After the proposal presentation feedback about our concept or idea, these are the feedback that I have received and what I am doing and planning to iterate it.
HMW statement: How might we create a recruitment process that empowers and supports women, while mitigating the impacts of gender stereotypes, fostering an inclusive workforce?
my concept idea: is to create an app (EmpowHer) that empowers women by providing them with the tools and resources they need to navigate the recruitment process and reach their career aspirations. This includes helping them build confidence, enhance their skills and make informed career decisions, connecting women and their dream career. By creating an app, empowering women and giving them with the opportunity by rating, helping to change your workplace. using these ratings to help women make smarter decisions and help companies better understand how to retain top female talent. This app also helps them find opportunities and companies that best suited to what they are looking for, whether it is flexibility to work, salary satisfaction, mentorship, wellness initiatives and more,
feedback received:
"Empowher"
A recruitment process and supports women.
only 10% of workforces are gender balanced
Gender and racial/ethnic diversity and equality
confidence up-skilling, informed career decisions.
giving workplaces ratings
matchmaking with employeers/employees
rating, feedback, gender-neutral profiles
anonymity and privacy
educational content
BI-cultural filters
podcasts, videos
missing what is your industry question in the app workflow
embedding biases in design when the product is so gendered
articulated within the app the varieties of experiences around parental leave etc.
empowher negates the effect of gender neutral profiles
what is your empathy connection to the project?
universal design principles
flexible, inclusive
needs to be intersectional.
next steps:
I am to rebrand the name to be more inclusive with other genders, rebranding "EmpowHer" to just Empower to make it less gendered. To create an option where people have the choice to add their gender, race/ethnicity, etc. into their profiles to give them their voice. Within the rating and review system - add filters where it can show reviews based on reviews submitted by gender, race, ethnicity, etc. In the app workflow, i wil move the industry question from advance section, then add an option on the advance section whether they would like to change the current industry in and they are ale to select what they would want to change into.
This week I will be focusing on creating my brand, and create concepts of the first iteration of the app workflow and aesthetics using figma and procreate.

Blog Update 2
The current status of my project is going well as planned. This week and during the holidays, I was to ideate solutions for my How Might We statement of...
How might we create a recruitment process that empowers and supports women , while mitigating the impacts of gender stereotypes, fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce.
My proposed idea for next week's practice presentation is to create a recruitment app for women called EmpowerHer. In a fun way of thinking, it is like a dating app for women and their dream career.
The problem that lead me to this is that despite the advancements of gender equality, women continue to encounter biases and stereotypes during the recruitment process. These biases and stereotypes often results in limited opportunities, unequal pay and lack of representation in leadership roles.
The key features are:
Ratings: women can anonymously rate their past or current employers based on key category metrics as flexible hours, maternity, and adoptive leave, family growth support, management opportunities for women, female representation in leadership, sense of belonging
Feedbacks: feedbacks adds incredible value to the data and directly helps the workforce, measuring the company’s success using individuals stories.
Gender-neutral profile creation: Provide the option for users to create gender-neutral profiles, focusing on qualifications, skills and achievement rather than gender-specific information.
Anonymity and privacy controls: Ensure user privacy and anonymity by hiding their identity when submitting reviews and ratings.
Educational content: Includes podcasts, videos and webinars to provide women the tools and resources they need to succeed in their career aspirations.
Bi-cultural filters: the app ensures that it is not only accommodating to women but also respects and recognizes their diverse cultural backgrounds. This helps create a more inclusive environment and workforce. Bi-cultural filters can help mitigate these biases by standardising the evaluation criteria across different cultural contexts.
I have made a flowchart for how this app will work and I will be doing some design concepts for the appearance in the following days. The tool that I will be using for this is, procreate for illustrating and Figma to create my first draft of the app.
The current challenges that I am facing with this project is time. balancing studies, work life and personal life is difficult. I think that I still have many things I should do for my project, each to do is time consuming so its difficult to keep on track with the timeline, however its doable.

During this week, I have made a new design brief catered for my new how might we statement of "How might we create a recruitment process in the corporate industry that empowers and supports women, while mitigating the impacts of age and gender stereotypes, fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce"
I have used the e employee life cycle to narrow down my demographic as creating a solution for my old HWM statement was too broad and complicating. The result of this is that I have found that through the respondents of the demographics in new Zealand, female (73.3%) in between the ages of 18+ and 65+ years of age.
Design Vision: Empowering recruitment in the corporate recruitment.
overview: My design visions centres on revolutionising the recruitment process within the professional industry, with a specific focus on empowering women and dismantle age and gender stereotypes. Creating a transforming experience that not only attracts varied talent but also promotes equality, diversity and equity, through the use of technology and inclusive practices and education.
Key principles:
Inclusivity and diversity:
technology-driven insights
education awareness
collaborative partnerships

The current status of my project is going well as planned. I have define my design brief starting with my defined, how might we statement:
"How might we overcome age stereotypes (demographics of 50-80 years of age) in the workplace and recognise it's impacts on employee experiences and organisational culture"
my design vision is to create an inclusive and diverse workplace environment that challenges and overcomes age stereotypes, fostering a culture where individuals of all ages are valued for their unique experiences, skills and contributions...
The tools that I am using for this project is the triple diamond methodology as I am familiar with it through the three years of study. I am familiar with how to use it, which I find very helpful because I think it can take time to understand how frameworks works. The triple diamond method is for systemic design of services, in which I think my project will be heading to a solution relating to service design. The toolkit I will be using is the Human Centred Design.
The strengths of using this tool is that toolkit as it focuses on serving people in this project which requires us to centre human needs. It can be valuable for addressing stereotypes in the workplace, which is the centre and main focus for my project. The toolkit's iterative process allows for continuous feedback and improvement, as this is an important aspect of increasing the likelihood of creating a successful product or services. The flexibility that it can be adapted to different context and projects, making it applicable for wide range of challenges I might encounter during the project.
The weakness of using this tool is that, it can be time-consuming especially during the research and user-testing phase as it might not be suitable for project with tight timelines. While also involving human and their needs, balancing the user needs can sometimes lead to competing interest and design compromises.
The current challenges that I am facing is having enough preliminary research to support my statements. This is the current challenge that I am trying to solve and I will resolve this by using my time wisely as background research is very important to show that we understand the problem and brief that we are trying to solve. I will also seek my fellow students for help and feedback.
The part of the project that has made me happy is creating the mood board, the theme of my miro board as well as filling out the online worksheets of the diversity works awareness spectrum, intersectionality, and wheel of privilege and power worksheet, as these tasks does not require much thinking and it involves colours.
The part of the project that has made me sad is the concept of my project that either young or old employees are facing stereotype biases in the workplace. It is saddening to see the 62% of employees are experiencing this and 90-95% of workers age 50-80 reported having personally seen or experienced age discrimination. It Is sad that people who have witness this ca possibly be bystanders to these occurrences.

During this first week of this semester, I have started on creating my Miro board to plan out my projects and to get an idea what task I will be doing each week.
From the announcement made by Ayla about planning week 1 and 2, I have started in completing this list.
Miro board link: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVM1F4xZw=/
create your Miro board
choose a buddy or a group
define the specific methodology you wish to use and map the stages of the methodologies to a timeline.
think about what it is you might like to achieve by week 12 (just a draft)
add your to do list for week 1 on Miro board.
I have also started on the A2: proposal refinement and planning + ethics modules - 6 key "ingredients slide"
I have used the scope/limits I have made in Des300 project proposal for this project. I will be refining this next week and onto the coming weeks when the project has roughly finished its planing stage. I will be using the human centred design (HCD) methodology and the process that I will be using in this research is both qualitative research and quantitative and I will be using the design thinking method to map the stages to a timeline.
