Presence of video editing in my research project
Videos in my research project are explorations into the past and present.
Connecting ideas of what is GOOD, NORMAL or EVERYDAY like, expressed in cinema in the Soviet Union, with what is COOL and GOOD now, expressed by commercials and presentations from technological companies, was expected to produce films that can HIGHLIGHT in front of the contemporary consumer the CONTRAST of realities in a different time.
Meaning, that in 20 more years, times will be DIFFERENT again.
And so there is no need to rush into change, but rather to progress into it with awareness and honest connectivity, one that is designed by the user through her own rituals.

"Countering technology through a practice is to take account of our susceptibility to technological distraction, and it is also to engage the peculiarly human strength of comprehension, i.e. the power to take in the world in its extent and significance and to respond through an enduring commitment."[5]
In his 2000 book Holding onto Reality, Borgmann uses the concept of the device paradigm to analyze an emerging postmodern culture heavily reliant on digital tools. He notes that "information technology is currently the prominent and most influential version of the device paradigm" (page 352).

As you might well imagine, electrical appliances in a landfill or the junkyard will have damaged outer shells but could contain perfectly working electrical stuff, which can be reused.

Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human traits, emotions, and intentions to non-human entities[1] and is considered to be an innate tendency of human psychology.[2]

19.4.17 plane to London
My project ended up being a lot more than merely kitchen space, but about the weight, we bear on our shoulders realizing the meaning of being born as one or other sex. When we acknowledge our families past and present. When we become aware of our society and our personal desires and importances.
Through design (I can, I choose?) I can express the conflict the kitchen space is expressed for me, by presenting it in in a physical matter with references from the censored cinema of the late Soviet Union
To lead my views and feeling. (Is) To have an output, to express and analyze what can be better now.
To realize that hope is a drive and use what makes me unsure and uneasy as a creative vehicle to care for others.

Fundamentally, memory represents a change in who we are. Our habits, our ideologies, our hopes and fears are all influenced by what we remember of our past. At the most basic level, we remember because the connections between our brains’ neurons change; each experience primes the brain for the next experience, so that the physical stuff we’re made of reflects our history like mountains reflect geologic eras. Memory also represents a change in who we are because it is predictive of who we will become. We remember things more easily if we have been exposed to similar things before, so what we remember from the past has a lot to do with what we can learn in the future.

Adding the kettle to the chain of communication allows the user to experience the ACTION with more intensity, as it involves more things to do.
The call is only ON while the kettle is ON. It will be terminated depending on the amount of water there is to boil. Choose wisely what you would like to say.

UNDERGROUND thoughts
Bespoke is a word only some of our society can use when describing their kitchens. Bought in IKEA or as installed part of the house/apartment one moves into, kitchens for students is a space that just exists. We find it in accommodations or the houses we share with 3 or 4 more other students, usually strangers sometimes friends.
Communal living was an expression of the ideology practiced in the Soviet Union after the 1917 revolution until Khrushovs 'thaw' period in the late 50's. Artists and architects took the mission of supporting a helping communism flourish and expand have been designing experimental living during the 20s and 30s.
One such house has been called the Narkomfin house, inhabited by the architects who have planned it to test the ideology they have been planning for. Were the conditions not perfect?), and the experiment stayed at the stage, second world war changed the face of the social living separations. Yet Soviet propaganda of that time has echoed loudly into the future and today communal housing viewed from different angles, called by different names and described with other actions. The urbanized are has many of such; shared home, student housing, renting, subletting, airbnb culture, couchsurf.
The new media transformed this concept, shaping it into the new culture. Pinterest and DIY options create dreams, "next projects", a present for.., a post on your facebook feed,  "white lie" reality on your Instagram story.
We disconnect and make new connections until absurdity takes over. The internet of things era, though is saying it will connect thing together. But will they be the right things for us to connect to? Have we even been asked what makes life easier for us? Or did that conversation have been dismissed? Made redundant u der the profit aim.
It isn't all evil, of course, a lot of the already affecting connected devices, are interesting, useful, help people and do connect them not only as data mules. But my idea of connectivity is zoomed in in its design. Localizing Iot should be in communities priorities. It is an up to date with the latest technologies way to create the old but good relationships as well as many tools with NFC and GPS.
Having fun and cooking. Food connects people, and the kitchen is the designated area for this activity. Outside inside or in between.

This meant that there was no ambiguity about who was in the house and when, which had implications for privacy and made for some uncomfortable interrelationships. “People were quick to add levels of interpretation on the data. They would layer it with their own meanings,” says Brown. “And often the interpretations of what data meant about other household members were based upon a worst-case scenario, often drawing on their own insecurities.

We can see the transition of the home through the kitchen
It was in the basement and untouched by the owner of the home, managed by the woman.
Then it became small and minimalistic in use, going through 2 world wars.
Moving into a big kitchen, developed in the USA when after WW2 it had an economic superiority and had developed its consumaristic nature.  A cooking ‘island’ and electrification in every corner.
Moved towards efficiency and got back to the cozy family warmth (the nuclear family). Machines that made things faster and more efficient are now transforming into privacy complicated objects. Connected objects, wifi, security, surveillance, are we making our domestic environment more aware or maybe over shred? Is it more interesting now or before, and how it will be?
Are we sharing? Or are we giving away? if there a symbiosis in this or it is a one-way street?
Exploring the relationship between an object and a human in an environment supported by history as warm, tiring, working, buzzing, feeding, cleaning, chatting, knowledge sharing, shushing, speltnishкршт
