Our approach was simple. Rather than go down the avenue of stereotypical imagery and naff gift shop feeling packing, we wanted to embrace the eccentricities of the quintessential British behaviour. Each tea had its own unique quality so we celebrate that by creating individual characters that defined the tea’s profile. As an already established brand we needed to be respectful of Burgen’s past and so developed a new look that not only felt both fresh and bold but also one of familiarity. Under our new brand positioning of ‘Plant Power Positivity’ we reignited Burgen as the catalyst of both taste and health. Although it’s now becoming a more established market, a large amount of CBD based products still lack credibility or authenticity, this was an important tension to navigate as we wanted to drive efficacy and reassurance through the brand without the stereo typical design cues. Taking inspiration from the Botanical Pharmacy we developed a high science binary language through detailed dot patterning that categorise the range whilst an earthy card stock softened the science with a natural aesthetic. Our approach was simple. We needed to be honest with Ecover and its heritage. This was a bold & confident brand that did things differently, not blend with the norm. Under the strategic platform ‘Boldly transparent, defiantly clean’, we rebuilt the brand from the ground up. Ditching category cliches and traditional efficacy cues and adopting a confident brand mark, proud of its eco credentials and a pared back architecture to cut through the clutter.
