We won. Dean may not have been given the chance to come out like Cas, but the fact that the show made it romantically canon on one side is irrefutable proof. Dean and Cas were a romantic couple. They are canon. Dean didn't reject Cas' love. He tried to see himself as the man Cas saw in him. This is reciprocity. He tried to continue living to honor Cas's sacrifice for him. He didn't go out to meet anyone for the 6 months he was alive. When he arrived in Heaven, his father figure said that Cas was there while raising his eyebrow suggestively and that was the first time Dean smiled in heaven. They were endgame, even if censorship doesn't allow many to see it. The finale was like "Dean and Cas can't reunite on screen and Dean can't live a whole life without his endgame love interest, without the love of his life and the reason for his happiness. That ending wouldn't work, Dean moving on and dating other people. Not after all. So we need to kill Dean and take him to heaven while informing the viewer that Cas is there waiting for him. That's the way to make Destiel endgame ."
