hey so have we talked about cardan’s earring?

I’m listening to TWK on audiobook for the 2nd time and during balekin’s trial/hearing thing, jude mentions that cardan is wearing the earring he got from grimsen. 

the earring he got from grimsen.

i vaaaguely remember it being mentioned offhand that grimsen had given him an earring, but I think it was mentioned in passing without much attention drawn to it. but we KNOW anything that grimsen has made is good for more than just looking pretty.

so what does it do?

was it talked about somewhere and i just overlooked it? does anyone remember if the earring was mentioned in other scenes?

side note, i think it’d be cool if it did something like “lets the wearer hear through lies” which would be pretty useless in Faerie unless you have to deal with a certain pair of duarte sisters. i doubt this is it, but it would explain why cardan turns to putty whenever jude says “i hate you” ;)
