Black Vulture! A popular in south. I’m posting all the wildlife I shot down in the States (if they look good!) so expect more “common” birds in my feed! Large raptor. Uniform black with silvery patches on undersides of wingtips. In flight, broad, rounded wings with distinct "fingers" are held flat like a board. Notice very short tail and small black head. Soars in flocks, often with other vultures and hawks. Flight style is distinctive; bat-like, strong snappy wingbeats followed by short glides. Look for them along highways eating roadkill, or picking through dumpsters. This squirrel was hiding from me. That hiding skills 😂 it’s on the same tree the lizard from the previous post was on, at the same time. They were both hiding from me 😄 This is at 200mm focal length, but cropped extremely to the equivalent of at least 1000mm. Great test for the Tamron 70-200 sharpness if the settings are right! San Antonio’s Missions San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is a National Historical Park and part of a #UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving four of the five Spanish frontier missions in San Antonio, Texas, USA. These outposts were established by #Catholic #religious orders to spread #Christianity among the local natives. These missions formed part of a #colonization system that stretched across the Spanish Southwest in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. -Wikipedia I think I have heard that story before…🤦‍♂️ Anyways… it’s always good to learn. Alamo Mission, San Antonio Buildings and statues are always tricky; you may offend someone without even realizing what you did. I didn’t educate myself on San Antonio Missions, and I have no idea what these statuses are for. Those Texan police officers were pretty handsome with those Texan cowboy hats; I in no means support police brutality or adoration ban in Texas. Wrote these just to be safe. Well there are other missions in San Antonio, and I know some of them were built for military and some for religious purposes, and there is a big chance that aboriginals got dislocated, “educated” or murdered while these were being built. So please forgive me if any of these are offensive. They are so damn pretty though and that’s the sole reason for sharing! (Tell me about overdoing something) The Alamo is an historic Spanish mission and fortress compound founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries in what is now San Antonio, Texas, United States. It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836, a pivotal event of the Texas Revolution in which American folk heroes James Bowie and Davy Crockett died.[4] Today it is a museum in the Alamo Plaza Historic District and a part of the San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site.
